The American Chestnut was once a very common sight in the forests and woodlands of Eastern North America but was brought to near extinction due to the introduction of the deadly Chestnut Blight Fungus. Although outside of the species historical range, the American Chestnut has called Minnesota home for at least 150 years, with trees currently being found both in the wild and in landscape settings.
