BBC Archive | 1977: Another CHARMING RAILWAY story | Nationwide | Retro Transport | BBC Archive @BBCArchive | Uploaded July 2024 | Updated October 2024, 7 hours ago.
When Bernard Clark drove Nationwide's trusty 'On The Road' van past a railway signal in Surrey eight miles from the nearest British Rail, he simply couldn't resist investigating - even if his first thought was "not another railway story".
What he found was the miniature Ewhurst railway, running from the bottom end of the garden, past the rosebushes and vegetables, around the far side of the greenhouse and on to the garage.
Clip taken from Nationwide, originally broadcast on BBC One, Tuesday 5 July, 1977.
