I've been battling trying to tune the Amal carb on the 1975 over the last few years, although it's it's a new one with all the right jets it's never run right.
I decided to try a cheap carb of Ali Express and the running and balance if the engine is like night and day. no more tickling the carb or protracted start up procedures, just turn on the fuel and ignition and kick it into life. in theory any carb of the same diameter should work ok. But the Amal has been a pain. The Ali Express carb is set up out of the box for tick over and mixture.
I'm actually amazed how well it works.
