Very nice amateur film shot in the tragic 1973 USGP where another driver was killed. Shot on film - no sound.
The 1973 United States Grand Prix was held on October 7, 1973, at the Watkins Glen Grand Prix Race Course in New York. The race was won by Ronnie Peterson of Team Lotus, with James Hunt finishing a close second and Carlos Reutemann in third.
The event was tragically overshadowed by the death of Tyrrell driver François Cevert during a qualifying session the day before the race. In tribute, the Tyrrell team withdrew from the Grand Prix, meaning that the already three-time World Champion Jackie Stewart's intended 100th and final race start did not take place, and his retirement from F1 competition began a race early. The withdrawal also effectively handed the Manufacturers' Cup to Lotus.
