Imagine being turned away when you go to fill up your car... because there's no petrol in the pump!

That was a very real issue for British drivers during the 1973 Oil Crisis, as petrol pumps ran dry. Only one garage in 20 was open, with some motorists running out of fuel before they could fill up their car.

ITN reported from London as taxi drivers especially struggled to find diesel, including one who tried 22 different garages.
