LIKE & SUBSCRIBE! One of the most iconic images in LA history, the 3-sided neon Felix Chevrolet sign with the image of TV cartoon star Felix the Cat, with permission from Felix’s creator Pat Sullivan who was friends with dealership owner Winslow B. Felix. Confused yet?
This commercial was a typical automotive dealership ad from the 1950s well into the 1990s or later - a simple rundown of the cars in inventory and what a fantastic bargain they were. Turns out, all too often, dealers would advertising a crazy low price for a particular vehicle only to tell folks who showed up to look at it, that the car was sold already. But hey, look at THIS (more expensive) model…
Established in 1921, I can remember driving by that car lot on Figeroa in the 1990s, amazed it and the sign still existed. Still in business today, Felix Chevrolet is the oldest auto dealership in Los Angeles and the sign is still up.
