This jaw-dropping 1969 Chevrolet Camaro COPO 427 4-speed Hugger Orange Tribute has been restored to show-quality standards and built to capture the spirit of the legendary Nickey Chevrolet and Bill Thomas performance Camaros. This first-generation Camaro combines a date-code-correct 427 big-block V8, Muncie 4-speed manual transmission, 4.10 Positraction 12-bolt rear end, Hugger Orange paint, and period-correct performance styling.
This Camaro was built in Norwood, Ohio, as a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Sport Coupe with a V8 engine. The Trim Tag identifies it as a base-model 1969 Camaro Sport Coupe built during the third week of August, originally finished in Hugger Orange with a black standard bucket-seat interior. The vision for this build was to create a Nickey and Bill Thomas-inspired COPO Camaro tribute.
Finished in famous Chevrolet paint code 72 Hugger Orange, this Camaro underwent a rotisserie restoration completed in 2012 with extensive attention to detail and correctness. The previous owner purchased it in 2016 and cared for it for approximately 10 years. Since completion, it has been driven only about 2,750 miles. MS CLASSIC CARS purchased the Camaro in July 2026, making this its first time being offered for sale by MS CLASSIC CARS.
The exterior features a straight body with excellent panel fitment and show-quality Hugger Orange paint. It is equipped with a functional cowl-induction hood, rear spoiler, new black front spoiler and tinted glass throughout. Restored or replaced exterior components include the stainless-steel glass trim, wiper arms, driver's-side mirror, grille, headlights, front bumper, door handles, rocker moldings, taillight bezels and lenses, and rear bumper. Blue Chevrolet bow tie and Nickey emblems, along with Bill Thomas decals on the glass, front fenders and rear tail panel, complete the performance-inspired appearance.
The Camaro rides on 14-inch Hugger Orange painted steel wheels with polished hubcaps and Firestone Super Sport Wide Oval FR70-14 tires. MS CLASSIC CARS recently added the new tires and front spoiler.
Inside is a beautifully restored black standard bucket-seat interior, trim code 711. Restoration work included the door sill plates, headliner, dome light, sun visors, rearview mirror, dash pad, gauges, 7,000 RPM tachometer, steering wheel, door panels, front bucket seats, rear bench seat, seat belts, chrome Hurst shifter, pedals, carpeting and correct-style black rubber floor mats. Custom touches include Summit Racing auxiliary gauges and a Nickey emblem on the glovebox.
The trunk is finished with correct-style splatter paint, trunk mat and deck-lid decals, along with a matching spare wheel, tire and jack tools. The spare wheel and tire were added by MS CLASSIC CARS.
Under the hood is a highly detailed engine compartment featuring a correctly finished black firewall, PBT factory inspection stamps, Bill Thomas sticker and factory-style assembly markings. Power comes from a date-code-correct 427 cubic-inch Chevrolet big-block V8 that has been completely rebuilt and runs excellent. The engine carries casting number 3963512 with a November 4, 1968 casting date. The 427 cylinder heads feature casting number 3919840 and January 29, 1968 casting dates. The GM/Winters aluminum intake carries casting number 3388163.
The 427 is dressed with correct-style chrome valve covers, Nickey and Bill Thomas decals, a black air cleaner with 427/425HP decals, and period-style detailing. MS CLASSIC CARS added a new Holley Classic 750 CFM carburetor with electric choke, Pertronix ignition and correct spark plug wires for improved reliability.
The big-block is backed by a date-code-correct Muncie 4-speed manual transmission that has been completely rebuilt and shifts smoothly. Power is transferred to a completely rebuilt GM 12-bolt Positraction rear end with 4.10 gears. The rear-end housing carries casting number 3894860, while the BE stamping identifies the high-performance 4.10 Positraction configuration associated with 1969 Camaro performance applications.
The undercarriage is highly detailed with the subframe and floors refinished in the correct shade of black. Restored or replaced components include the fuel tank, power steering, suspension and braking systems. It is equipped with KYB shocks, rear traction bars with Nickey decals and power front disc brakes.
