For many pilgrims, it’s about the arduous nature of the undertaking - a torturous journey, physical pain and discomfort, the forbidding silence of contemplation.
For these Bavarian pilgrims to the Andrechs Monastery, it’s the temptation of the beer that the monks brew and serve in their in-built beer hall.
Who says pilgrimages can’t involve jugs of beer and loud singsongs?
