Having dug my car out of a mountain of snow many times in those bleak Michigan winters, I can vouch for the truth in the statement that "Hot Tempers won't start cold engines!"
No, they won't.
"Don't risk losing your temper, missing appointments, or worse, because your car won't start this winter! Bring it in now. Let us get it ready for dependable, sure-fire starts, all winter long."
That's the message the good people at Kramer-Eberts Pontiac sent out on this postcard to their customers. A postcard created and sponsored by Pennzoil. It goes on to say:
"You'll save other ways, too. Your engine will last longer. You'll protect your battery, get more mileage from your gasoline dollar. And you'll enjoy the peace of mind that comes from knowing you are all set to go where you want, regardless of weather. See us Now."
I remember my own hot temper dealing with my car doors freezing shut in the winter. No remotes in those days. You stuck your key in the door to unlock it. And I remember the lock being frozen so it wouldn't turn. The solution? Heat up your key with a match or a lighter and stick that in the lock and try again. Repeat as necessary. This is supposed to work but it never did for me. Because the wind was always blowing and it would blow out the match or lighter. The best solution I found was to just wait for April. Either THIS April, when things finally thawed out,...or this April, if you couldn't wait.
Another thing. They salt the roads. They spread rock salt on the roads and this is what that does to cars! So.. salt is supposed to melt the snow and ice? Isn't salt what you put in an ice cream maker to freeze ice cream? Oh winter was always very confusing to me. Most confusing was why human beings, given an entire planet to spread out on, would settle anywhere so cold. Fewer bugs, I guess.
