apocalypsehighway | 1930 Ford Model A Crank Start @apocalypsehighway | Uploaded 9 years ago | Updated 3 hours ago
I've told people, how easy my ol girl here is to crank start & has been ever since I unsiezed the motor back in 2012 with the very same crank.
I was doing this, very same demonstration at show's for people for the last of the 2012 season, then stopped because well, she does have electric start. Over the last few years a lot thought I was embellishing things, when I would talk about how easy she would crank over because of what they have heard. or seen in others videos of how some A's can be somewhat temperamental. The car had been run earlier today (8/23/2015) however was sitting for almost 4 and a half hours at this point, so no, I did not use the choke as sometimes needed if sitting overnight then starting from the inside. all I did here, was make sure the gas was on, turned the key and voila!
P.S For one's who do not know, let me stress NEVER wrap your thumb around the handle when starting. if you are in the wrong position and the handle kicks back due to compression, you can and will break bones.
