Friends told me oh yeah, go look for his hidden portal as this palace can be seen much earlier in the game but is inaccessible for some time. I'm pretty sure I was overleveled for Mohg at this point since he died incredibly fast.

Neat fight.

Honestly had more trouble with the sheer amount of roaming enemies and trash just to get to the temple itself than Mohg.
