The Romans named our river Thames as TAMESIS.
The name comes from the Brittonic name TAMESAS, or the Celtic word TAMESSA, which means DARK WATER.
The name reflects the Thames's appearance back then, darker and murkier than other bodies of water in the region.
My special find today is, in no doubt, a Roman coin I found.
I'm lucky to say I have found a number of Roman coins throughout the years, but why is this particular Roman coin special?
Find out here.
