So a couple days ago we found out that WM lost this HOA to Edco in the past coupe weeks, and in a last minute decision the following day, we stopped here after filming some more revving ESD Amreps. Fully expecting the routes to be long done as we pulled in, we were surprised to see that every last recycle cart was still full. It was already 4pm when we arrived, so we had a feeling something good was going to show up. And after a solid hour of waiting, and wondering if they were just going to come the following day instead, a truck finally pulled in.
As we suspected, the CWS MSL that typically does this route broke down and so a relief driver was sent in one of the last MSLs they run, M325. A Whitegmc WXLL Maxon MSL. Tipping carts in a newer HOA. It was so neat to see a truck of this age screaming through these small alleys.
And to add to just how awesome this was, somewhere around 7pm, the normal route driver shows up in another spare, M327. Those of you who know about Edco know that hearing their residential trucks actually growl is nearly unheard of, so I was more than slightly shocked when I heard M327 accelerate through a nearby alley. With 2 trucks now taking care of the last couple of alleys, things got finished up pretty fast. It was certainly awesome to see two of these trucks on the same stretch of road doing what is pretty uncommon from Edco, semi-auto recycling. At 7:30 they pulled onto the main road and were done (with route) for the day. A long drive all the way back to dang near the other side of San Diego was still ahead of them though.
A huge thanks goes to both drivers for being so cool, even after what was obviously a long, and likely stressful day.
I went ahead and did something a little different for this video, in that I kept just about every clip in the video. It's not often you see this, and with how few of these trucks remain in a fleet that once was absolutely dominated by them, I figured many of you would like to see the whole video, even if many of the clips didn't come out well.
