Introduced in 1951 by SMPTE, it was a modification of the "Academy leader" in order to work better with the film chains most TV stations were then using. The numbers still counted down once every foot, from 11 to 3, but instead of being upside down relative to the main program visuals, the numbers were right side up. Furthermore, instead of there being just black film in between the numbers, Society leader had a crosshair pattern to help with television framing and focusing. This style of countdown leader did not receive a separate standard identification. It was completely replaced by the SMPTE Universal leader.

This was taken from a late 2000s Universal feature after the credits. The actual animation seems to date back to at least the 90s. I have no way of knowing if Universal had been attaching these to the end of every movie for 30 years but its not unreasonable. These were rarely seen by anyone at my cinema as almost no one sat through the entire credits.")

I have no idea where or when I got this. It was almost impossible to track properly, the sprocket area had no definition whatsoever when scanned so it was really hard to lock onto anything, hence the jumpiness.
In the United States it is a requirement for TV stations to announce their call sign continuously during the day so once upon a time programme breaks like these were commonplace.
This short piece of film contains two slugs for commercial insertion by the station, These are common in 16mm but not 35mm.
There is unfortunately no station ID inserted, which would have been amazing. Some of the episode music starts at the end of the video.")

I know I have uploaded this a few times, but there was a nice clean copy at the end of the road safety reel so I thought I would upload it uncropped. This is also the first time the analog stereo tracks have been swapped to the correct channel. This is also a much cleaner copy of the audio track as I used a monochrome copy of the soundtrack.
This print does not contain the Sydney 2000 partner mark.
Somewhat of a good comparison with how far Ive come with usage and post processing on the scanner as this was one of the first things I uploaded from it.")
