The B-25 Mitchell proved so effective during WWII it was the only aircraft to participate in every theater of the conflict. Of the 9,826 airframes built there are currently less than 40 B-25s flying around the world today. One of the most noticeable is the spectacular ‘Panchito’, based at Delaware Coastal Airport. It has been restored in the striking polished bare metal finish honoring the original ‘Panchito’ operated by the 41st Bomb Group stationed in the Central Pacific Theater at the end of the war. As the story of the mighty B-25 Mitchell approaches its 80-year anniversary, the devoted efforts of owners, restorers and maintainers all but ensure this historic aircraft will remain in the skies over America for decades to come!
