Tormach had to design a ZA6 gripper to grab the part in its various stages. Then a secondary gripper to pick up the part halfway through the process. We start with a 2 finger, parallel jaw pneumatic gripper, with 3D printed tooling plates and studs. The flip move presented a challenge as the microARC motor mount part was much larger than the soft jaws from the Automate demo. To make the flip move we needed a larger part that conformed to the ever progressing shape of the mount. Jason designed a finger system with an indent to fit into the newly created circle on the part. For some extra friction he added a couple adjustable rubber feet. These robot fingers were 3D printed and have now made hundreds of parts and have had no wear on them.
