Learn more about the Tormach 1500MX CNC mill at hubs.ly/Q03jwtDN0 - powered by our free PathPilot software hubs.ly/Q03jwzXD0.
Tormach is actively updating PathPilot Robot edition to include the ability to scan the parts area with a LiDAR camera for easy pick and place. Traditionally parts would be placed in a grid pattern and the robot would have to be told where the items are. This is tedious and is prone to errors and crashes. A LiDAR sensor scans the area, plots where ever item is, and if something has moved, it recalibrates to prevent the robot from missing and item or crashing. LiDAR also allows for part stacking, which you couldn't do with a camera as that would be missing height data.
Tormach software Engineers are writing the commands necessary to make pick and place as simple as possible, they are also writing the API's for anyone who has the skills to program very complex automation operations. These aren't quite ready yet so make sure to subscribe to get notified when these new features are added to PathPilot Robot.
