The first of many character themes introduced on LOST shockingly turns out to be none other's than Nikki and Paulo's. After one appearance in the show's Pilot episode, this unnerving, ascending theme makes its grand return in the season 3 episode “Exposé”. Retroactively, this adds to the idea that the controversial couple was a part of the show all along. A compilation of several dramatic variations on this theme were released on the official season 3 soundtrack as “Sweet Exposé”. A couple of motifs from “Exposé”, including this one, also make consecutive appearances in “Confirmed Dead”.
