It may be contradictory to what other teachers say, but honestly, I see acronyms or intense studying to learn the subjunctive mood as unnecessary. Focus on learning the essential grammar points to be understood, and then try to pick up some subjunctive conjugations. You will see fast progress towards your main goal - being understood by natives! After 10 years learning Spanish, it is rare that I hear something that leaves me absolutely dumbfounded, but this was one of those moments! I couldn't believe I had discovered Spanish that I had never seen before. After researching it, I found out that saying "me es complicado" or "te es triste" is actually grammatically correct in Spanish!It's a use of object pronouns and the verb ser. However, it is important to remember that our perception of "harder" accents to understand or speak with can vary a lot depending on which accents we have been exposed to. In this video I will speak in Spanish so you can hear my Mexican accent and let me know if you think this accent is "hard" or "easy." In the end, exposing yourself to an accent with daily practice can help it go from difficult to a piece of cake to understand, and you can really learn any dialect you set your mind to.
