ABOUT THIS VIDEO
In this class, we talk about 13 words you probably mispronounce because of silent letters. In addition, I give lots of tips on how to sound more natural when you speak.
Basically, the fastest way to improve your pronunciation (and avoid mispronouncing words) is to shadow and imitate native English speakers. Listen to what you hear and repeat it... it's that simple :)
Remember, it's important to focus on the sounds of English and the melody and rhythm that those sounds create. Do NOT pronounce words the way they are written because English is NOT a phonetic language.
Unfortunately, most teachers teach pronunciation using the English or phonetic alphabet. This actually slows you down because it forces you to learn dozens of symbols, letters, letter combinations, rules, and exceptions to those rules before you even start improving!
Imitating native speakers is simply the most natural way to improve your pronunciation and achieve fluency. It's also the fastest! And, it's exactly what babies do when they learn to speak, and it's exactly what singers do when they learn new songs and work on the quality of their voice.
So, use these tips to shadow my videos and you'll quickly improve your pronunciation in American English :)
