I bought 2 5400 RPM 2.5" drives to run in RAID 0 thinking they would be "fast enough" for my Linux/Proxmox IBM 3850m2 server. Turns out, the performance was pretty disappointing, so I did a few measurements to see how they compared to a 7200 RPM drive and 4 x 15K drives. In this video I go through a process of writing some big files to disk in Linux, then copying them to get an idea of write and read/write performance.
