A 12-year-old boy fought off his mother's attacker shortly after midnight Saturday inside an apartment complex in Temple Hills, Md.

Police said the teenager heard his mother's boyfriend come into their apartment and start choking her. That's when the boy woke up and defended his mom with a knife.
