Welcome, doll collectors! Today we continue our 12 Days of Christmas Barbie Alternating Advent — a cozy, mid-century holiday collaboration with the wonderful March Payne of March Payne’s Midlife Dolly Crisis. We’re each opening a different version of the 12 Days of Christmas Barbie advent calendar every other day: March opens the 2023 set, I open the 2024 set, and together we’re building a tiny holiday world one drawer at a time.
In today’s episode, I open Drawer 5 of the 2024 12 Days of Christmas Barbie Advent Calendar. No spoilers here — you’ll discover the surprise right along with me. After the reveal, I create my own mid-century–inspired miniature interpretation using found objects, simple materials, and a bit of nostalgic holiday magic — leaning into the idea that many of us already have everything we need to tell a beautiful story at Barbie scale.
