Welcome back, doll collectors!
Today we’re continuing our 12 Days of Christmas Barbie Alternating Advent — my holiday collaboration with the wonderful March Payne of March Payne’s Midlife Dolly Crisis. We’re each opening a different version of the Barbie advent calendar every other day: March is opening the 2023 set, and I’m opening the 2024 set, letting this tiny holiday world come together one drawer at a time.
In Drawer Nine, we arrive at one of those moments that’s less about recreating something perfectly and more about using what we already have. This is a cozy, flexible day — focused on warmth, gathering, and the kinds of small details that make a scene feel alive.
Rather than duplicating what’s in the drawer exactly, I shop my own collection, pull in pieces from different playsets, and add a few celebratory touches of my own. It’s a reminder that creativity doesn’t have to be complicated — sometimes it’s just about suggestion, atmosphere, and letting the moment feel shared.
We also reach a turning point in our little holiday story as a guest arrives and the evening officially begins.
