We all have favorite DreamWorks films. But, have you ever noticed that one of the best parts of these movies is when they reference other classic films? Well, it’s time to take a look at all the best movie parodies made in DreamWorks films. One of the film franchises that loves to parody other movies the most has to be the Shrek franchise. These movies have plenty of references that are sure to make movie buffs laugh. From romantic moments between Shrek and Fiona that give us flashbacks to Spiderman and MJ to an unexpected Matrix moment courtesy of Fiona and Robin Hood’s merry men. While Shrek and Fiona have their fair share of parody moments, they’re not the only ones. Pinocchio, Puss in Boots, Donkey, and the Gingerbread Man all get in on the fun, as well. The Shrek movies are definitely the most prone to including parodies, but they’re far from the only DreamWorks movies to make humorous references to other films. There’s a Batman Begins parody in The Boss Baby and a Swiss Family Robinson parody in The Croods. Unexpectedly, Trolls has a few nods to other films, from Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory to 1984. Plenty of kids could notice a good Willy Wonka reference. Yet, clear that some of these references are just for the grown-ups in the audience, like Kung Fu Panda’s many nods to ‘70s Kung Fu movies and a subtle Top Gun nod in How To Train Your Dragon. We have a feeling that some of these parodies will come as a surprise even to major DreamWorks fans.
