A recent project between New Haven and Hamden, CT constructed raised crosswalks at twelve locations along the Farmington Canal Trail, increasing safety and accessibility at the numerous street crossings where the old railroad used to be. Additionally, trail improvements were made such as redesigning the bollard setup, paving the trail approaches, adding new and revised signs, and constructing curb bumpouts to shorten the crossing distances. CTDOT combined the designs from the two towns into one project and provided the funding.
