Matthew Greenwood | 12 Hours of Sebring - 2012 - Team La Bomba - Lauren Mitchell Band @mmmatthewww | Uploaded March 2012 | Updated October 2024, 14 hours ago.
PLEASE READ: This is by far the longest run video that I've ever uploaded. The first segment is a variety of racing related footage. The second part is the Lauren Mitchell Band live in the Green Park, playing on-board the legendary La Bomba Audi TDI race car float. The sound quality of the band is compromised because my video camera microphone did not enable me to adjust mic. levels suitable for recording live music. The sound coming off the stage was actually very clean and bright. The layer of distortion is a result of the camera mic. being overloaded. The Lauren Mitchell Band was on fire, and the crowd was jazzed. Everyone had a great time. Please leave messages of encouragement to the band and they might just come back next year!
Tom Kristensen, Dindo Capello and Allan McNish literally steamrolled the competition in winning the 60th anniversary running of the 12 Hours of Sebring in the #2 Audi R18 TDI.
The Audi R18 TDI race car has been described as a whispering giant as its turbo-diesel engine is incredibly silent, even as the car rushes past at more than 200 MPH. It is so eerily quiet, in fact, that a sort of cognitive dissonance occurs within you as you watch the car streak by and you realize that you hear the sound of air rushing around the car and the tires rolling on the ground more than the exhaust note of the turbocharged 510-horsepower diesel V6. Audi returned to the Sebring track on Monday, after the race weekend, to begin testing a brand new R18 e-tron quattro that they will field at the 24 Hours of LeMans. The R18 e-tron employs and accumulator electrical motor that stores power generated under braking and releases its stored energy upon acceleration to the front wheels.
We also saw the debut of the Nissan DeltaWing that is considered to be revolutionary and possibly the future of SportsCar Racing.
