So, let’s get this straight: We’ve got an Italian plumber that is “dating” a princess, his best friend is a mushroom, he rides a dinosaur, and his rival is a confusing turtle… dragon thing. Okay, got it. No need for explanation. Why would anything in this series need an explanation with a premise like that? The odd thing about Mario and the gang is that, in spite of all the ludicrous insanity that these games have brought to us over the years, it works. Not only does it work, it works REALLY well. So well, in fact, that Mario himself has been in well over 250 games.
