Edward Ikuma, born in Honolulu, Hawai'i, was inducted into the army before Pearl Harbor in March of 1941. At the time of the attack on December 7, he was serving in A Company, 3rd Combat Engineers, 24th Infantry Division. As an original member of the 100th Infantry Battalion, Ikuma was in charge of the message center in the Communications Section of Headquarters Company and in this Hanashi oral history clip, he recalls his involvement in every battle of the 100th and the bravery of Colonel Kim.
