An anthropomorphic lizard tries to make a batch of scones for it's birthday party, but accidentally makes ten thousand and somehow mysteriously loses them! Shenanigans ensue.
(That's not the original synopsis I wrote, but I have since lost the original)
This was the final short film I made for my Year 12 Media class in 2022. Something that I worked on fifteen hours per day almost every day for four months from June to September, 2022. I completed the project on the 16th of September, 2022, twelve minutes before the midnight deadline.
Even then I didn't fully complete it, I only completed the mistake riddled version I submitted to my teacher. I spent the following weeks fixing those mistakes for a cleaner submission to Top Screen 2022, a state-wide film competition for Unit 4 media students that showcases the best final projects from across the entire state of Victoria. I uploaded that original version to YouTube but kept it unlisted, and that's the one my mum has been sending to people.

10,000 Scones was the first animated short that I'd ever completed, but wasn't the first that I started, that title belongs to the 'Bee Church' as I have been referring to it throughout it's whole creation, but that won't be the final title. I started the bee church way back in August 2021, and still have yet to complete it, I worked on it every single day until I had to put it on hold to make 10,000 Scones. Since the completion of 10,000 Scones, I've been working on it every chance I get. I initially planned to upload them in chronological order, first the Bee Church, then a BTS video for the Bee Church, and then 10,000 Scones, but my brother convinced me to upload 10,00 Scones now due to it's epic foreshadowing.
Fun facts:
-I genuinely have no idea why the ovens flicker, there is no reason they should be doing that but I feel like it give the film a slightly uneasy edge.
-This is set in a 3D model of my actual real life house.
-Blender would freeze for 20 minutes every time I tried to render.
-Despite being optimised and instanced, the ovens had to be keep in separate files and appended in in small groups because they kept causing Blender to lag, freeze, and crash.
-The monster is named 'Razor Eyes', and the main character is just 'MC'
-The birthday music that Razor Eyes plays on the laptop has been taken off YouTube, so now this short film very well may be the only evidence that it ever even existed.
-The texture for the scones was just a slightly edited photo of a massive singular scone made of a whole batch of scones.
