Third grader wins County Spelling Bee after being the only 3rd grader to ever win his school Spelling Bee a month earlier.
In the final rounds, 2 of the participants misspell their word in Round 11. This leaves DIGITAL HOURGLASS (a 3rd grader) vying for 1st place against an 8th grader.
Jesus, inarguably, showed Digital Hourglass His great favor throughout the competition. Proverbs 16:6 NIV declares, "In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps."
"Digital Hourglass" worked very hard and there were many nights of frustration having to cover roughly 2800 words in less than a month. However, it's ultimately God who gives favor and grants success. To God alone be all the glory.
The district office emailed his school the following:
"Congrats! (redacted), a third-grade student at (redacted), won the (redacted) County Spelling Bee on Wed., Feb. 7. There were more than seven rounds and 43 competitors and the fiercest competition that organizers could remember in many years. (redacted) is also the first third-grade student in recent memory—or perhaps ever—to win the district spelling bee for elementary and middle school students. He was quite impressive and nailed many words that would have stumped adults. His winning word was “marzipan,” which is a confection consisting primarily of sugar or honey and almond meal."
