100 miles at 100 mph. The legendary Pontiac, Illinois to Chicago car chase up I-55 from August of 1980. This is the audio soundtrack recorded from official police radio log tapes of this incident. The main radio channel used was the ISPERN (NLEEF) VHF simplex frequency. The chase transversed Illinois State Police Districts 6, 5, 2, and 4 with many other agencies involved along the way including Chicago PD. The chase was compared with the recently released (at the time) "Blues Brothers" movie in that it involved the ISP and Chicago PD teaming up to catch the suspects. Officers are heard on the radio stating the movie comparison. Some police units made the entire trip such as a Livingston County Sheriff's car, a Coal City PD car, and state car O-57. Some other units ran out of gas and dropped out. All in all it was quite a chase.
