I started this channel 10 years ago today, so to celebrate here is a compilation of 1-2ish seconds of every animation/PMV on my channel! (Excluding Artfight and birthday gifts) This wasn’t actually what I’d originally planned to do for the 10 years anniversary, but I never got time to start on the project I wanted to do, so I hope you all enjoy this instead!

This channel started off as part of the Warrior Cats fandom, before I created some of my own OCs and later moved on to other fandoms such as Wings of Fire, Bravelands and The Owl House. While I’ve currently lost interest in the Warrior Cats books, I am still incredibly grateful to them for inspiring me to start animating in the first place.

I know the intro music doesn’t really fit with the main song, but the video ended up longer than the actual song and everything else I tried to squeeze in didn’t really fit either so this is what I went with.

As you can see, a lot of my earlier videos revolved around learning how to draw lipsync. And of course starting out as a total beginner, a lot of my animations were very jerky with awkward proportions and very wobbly line art. And yes my animations did actually start out as those screen sizes before I found out what the correct canvas size for fullscreen was. But this video shows how all of this and my art style improved greatly over the years.

I’d actually forgotten about a lot of these videos, so it was a delight to look back on them and see how far I’ve come. I started drawing rotating scenes and various challenging movements far earlier than I thought I had.

Fun fact: I didn’t have a drawing tablet when I first started, and was instead using my finger to draw all those frames in ‘Paint’ (yes that super basic drawing program) and putting them together using Windows Movie Maker. Later on I started using “paint.net 4.0.6” to draw (as it has multiple layers) and VideoPad Video Editor to properly edit my videos, and add tweening to my PMVs.

As the years have gone by, you can see that while the quality of all of these animations has vastly improved, the amount of videos I have made has decreased. While I have often recently struggled to find time and motivation to draw, I am extremely proud of how far I’ve come and it’s been a delight to share it with everyone else, and receive such wonderful comments over the years. Although I rarely make content anymore, all my videos will remain up for whoever wishes to see them and I hope that they may have at some point inspired other animators the way others have inspired me.

A message for beginners:
Don’t ever tell yourself that someone else’s art is better than yours so you shouldn’t bother trying anything or that you’ll never be good enough. We were all beginners once. Improvement takes time and a lot of practice; some people improve in huge leaps and bounds while others take a lot longer, but even if it’s long the journey is fun and exciting to experiment with so many things until one day your art is exactly where you want it to be and you can look back on your work and be proud of all that you’ve learned and accomplished. Don’t be afraid to try new things; they might not always work out the way you want them to, but at the very least you have a reference for when you try again later. I know it’s frustrating when your work doesn’t look like the incredible movie quality scene you picture inside of your head, but no one else sees what you imagine, they just see the finished project you created and they’ll love it anyway. As long as you enjoy drawing, and enjoy what you’re drawing, go wild and draw new things, never stop doing what you love!
