Are you wasting money on quilting products you don’t actually need? As a quilt shop owner, I might get myself in trouble for this one!
After years of quilting and helping customers at Quilters Heaven, there are certain quilting products I personally would NEVER spend my money on. That doesn’t mean they’re necessarily bad products — but I think there are better, smarter ways to spend your quilting dollar.
In Episode #222 of The Opinionated Quilter, I’m sharing 10 quilting products I wouldn’t waste my money on, including:
✂️ Pre-cuts like fat quarters and jelly rolls
📐 Simple patterns you can figure out yourself
🧵 Foundation paper-piecing papers for traditional blocks
📏 Seam guides
✂️ Binding tools
📐 Single-purpose quilting rulers and tools
🧶 Mass-produced quilt kits
☁️ Small packages of quilt batting
🧵 Small spools of thread
🔪 Single rotary cutter blades
And yes… I sell some of these products in my own quilt shop! There are exceptions to almost every rule, and I’ll explain when I think these products ARE worth buying and when you can save your money.
