Are these 10 essential Thailand travel tips actually good advice? 🇹🇭
Today I’m reacting to Robert Berg’s “10 Essential Thailand Tips in 5 Minutes” and giving my own perspective on the advice he shares for people travelling to Thailand.
I’ve been visiting Thailand for more than a decade and have collectively spent close to two years in the country, while my girlfriend is Thai. I certainly don’t claim to be an expert — and there’s always more to learn — but after spending a lot of time travelling and living in Thailand, I’ve picked up plenty of experience along the way.
So rather than simply watching the video, I thought it would be fun to go through Robert’s tips one by one and offer my two cents. Is he on the money, is there anything I’d do differently, and how well does this advice hold up a few years after the original video was released?
We talk about everything from getting around Thailand, SIM cards and apps to street food, cash, scams, convenience stores, domestic travel and other useful advice for first-time visitors.
This isn’t about pretending there’s only one “correct” way to experience Thailand. It’s simply an experienced traveller comparing notes with another creator and hopefully adding a little extra perspective for anyone planning their own Thailand adventure.
