Some of the cheapest places to retire I cover in this video include:
1️⃣ Thailand
Thailand has amazing beaches, nature, and a super low cost of living. It's also great because it has decent private healthcare and a large base of expats and retirees. Plus, Thailand has a retirement visa for foreigners over the age of 50.
2️⃣ Mexico
Mexico is another cheap country to retire abroad, and it's very popular for snowbirds as well who don't mind having two retirement destinations. Amazing food, weather, and culture are some selling points. Healthcare is also great if you go private. And the path to a permanent residency visa isn't too difficult for many passports.
3️⃣ Colombia
I love Colombia for its culture, nature, and the people there. It's also a very affordable country. And, while it might surprise you, its healthcare system is very highly ranked. Crime is a concern in some cities, but there are still many safe regions. And Colombia offers a Special Temporary Pensioner’s Visa as well.
4️⃣ Romania
My family is from Romania, and Forbes actually ranked Romania as one of the best and cheapest places to retire in recently. Amazing history, diverse landscapes, great food, and low costs of living are selling points. Plus it's easy to retire here if you have an EU passport.
5️⃣ The Phillipines
This is another affordable place to retire with a large expat and retiree community base. You can choose island life or settle down in a larger city or town. Cost of living is incredibly low compared to Western and European standards. There's also the SRRV Visa to make the path to retirement easy.
6️⃣ Portugal
Portugal has been a popular cheap retirement destination for many people in Europe and worldwide for years. And even though cities like Lisbon are becoming more expensive, Portugal has many low cost of living areas. Just note that the D7 Visa is a popular route to take, and the Golden Visa doesn't allow real estate investment to qualify anymore.
