10. Short Faced Bear
Bears are massive creatures in their own right. I mean, think about it, there's a reason people fear them and are told to keep a good distance from them, you know? After all, they can tower over most people and animals, but in terms of the biggest ones that ever existed, that would be the Short-Faced Bear.
Now I know what you're thinking, how much "bigger" was it than modern bears? Well, these bears stood over 13-feet-tall when on its back legs, which is three feet taller than the biggest bears in the world today. Yeah, that's frightening.
But their height wasn't the only difference they had, for they had a lot of girth too. Modern bears can weigh at most around 800 pounds, which is very heavy no doubt and could easily crush you. But the Short-Faced Bear weighed around 2,000 pounds. Plus, the Short-Faced Bears was always hungry to an extent, and it had the ability to chase down and rip apart bison, buffalo, and more.
Truly, they weren't something to mess with, and taking them down is very hard. And that's with a regular bear, the Short-Faced bears were infamous for their aggressive tendencies. So their very nature would make them major threats to all humans, as well as livestock and any other animals it would get its eyes on. Plus, due to its size, regular guns would likely not take it down. Not even shotguns more than likely. Again...frightening?
You might notice that I'm using a lot of past tense words here, and that's because the Short-Faced Bear was one of the biggest bears...during the ice age. But...
Ironically, there are some who believe that the Short-Face bear still exists out in the world today despite having been off. This is unconfirmed of course. But could you imagine if it was confirmed? There is some evidence to say they're still alive...I'm just saying...
9. Whale Shark
SHARK!!! Ok, I'm kidding, there's not really a shark near you. But what might surprise you is what the biggest shark alive in the world is today. And that would be the Whale Shark.
There's a reason it's called the biggest fish in the world (remember, sharks are technically fish), as they've been recorded as growing up to 44 feet in length, and they weigh a massive 25 tons. But, some actually think that they can grow even larger, and some say that they can get up to 66 feet in length. This is because these guys can live in deep depths and obviously we don't know where EVERY one of them is.
