This is the second part of an expected 3-part series covering each and every verse of the Apostle Paul's first epistle to Timothy. In this sermon, Dr. Thiel covers the third and fourth chapters of Paul's letter. Paul lays out the requirements for being a bishop/overseer, elder/presbyter/priest, and deacon--and that includes them being married, having a reverent wife, and ruling their household, including children, well. Dr. Thiel quote various popes, the Bible, historical accounts, and the Catholic Encyclopedia to show that celibacy was not a requirement for ordination--he also reads a scriptural warning about dealing treacherously with the wife of one's youth, which the Eastern Orthodox basically do in order to become bishops. After quoting the Apostle Paul related to the "mystery of godliness", Dr. Thiel goes over what the Church of Rome and the Church of God teach related to the mystery of Jesus the Christ. Doctrines of demons and aspects of Satan's plan are covered. Foods sanctified by the word of God are discussed and the 11th chapter of Leviticus was also read. Items related to the New Testament and Christians avoiding unclean meat were covered. Bodily exercise was discussed and encouraged. That Jesus died for all and that God has a plan to offer salvation to everyone who ever lived was mentioned. The prophetic gift given to Timothy, dreams, and Melito of Sardis' writing 'On the Prophets' was discussed. How the Continuing Church of God differs from Greco-Roman Catholicism and Protestantism, as well as how it is contending for the original Christian faith was also discussed.
