Not even Apple can buy their way out of the RAM shortage, but don’t worry, they have a plan, and it involves you.
It turns out that there’s nearly a billion dollars worth of chips being left in the factory because there just isn’t enough memory to pair together with them for the upcoming launch of the iPhone 18 Pro series.
Recently, negotiations broke down between Apple and the Chinese memory maker CXMT leaving them in a bit of a production pickle.
But, it seems like their strategy may be gobbling up the RAM that you have in your hand right now.
They just increased their prices for trade-ins by up to 30% for some devices leading to the speculation that they’re going to organ harvest older phones to get the new ones out the door.
It’s really odd that they’d increase the value this close to a new launch, but it’s not just for the mobile devices, they’re also paying more for regular Macs too.
