Bruno Visnadi
Coins and Note Blocks glitch in Cookie Mountain.
updated
I brought a P-Switch for the first stun glitch because I couldn't fill a 'normal' sprite slot with the permanent sprite that's used in the double tongue. Sprite slots are incredibly scarce in funky, and slot management in general was one of the biggest difficulties for this exit.
Smash the right arrow key if you want to skip slow parts like the long duplication section, which I should have sped up.
I'm not sure if this should count or not for the exit list, but let's update it. List of levels that have been cleared without pressing A or B:

Total of 55 regular + 1 unintended exit = 56 exits.
I will go through all exits again to make sure of this, but I finally think it's time to say: this was the last exit of the no A or B challenge. It was a very fun series (and it was the main thing that made me interested into learning SMW in first place), and after almost 10 years since SomeGuy712X started it with what was initially intended to be an April Fools joke, it's finally over! Enjoy the 55th exit obtained without the jump buttons (:
Proportions of exits obtained in each world:
Yoshi's Island: 3/6 exits (50%)
Donut Plains: 9/15 exits (60%)
Vanilla Dome: 10/14 exits (71.4%)
Twin Bridges: 4/7 exits (57.1%)
Forest of Illusion: 11/14 exits (78.6%)
Chocolate Island: 5/11 exits (45.5%)
Valley of Bowser: 3/11 exits (27.3%)
Star World: 4/10 exits (40%)
Special World: 6/8 exits (75%)
TOTAL: 55/96 exits (57.3%). Just over 4/7ths of the game.

The Challenge rules stated that only the in-level clock will be taken into consideration for timing, so I used a couple pauses to change the real frame parity and avoid taking damage from the Flying Red Koopa.

In case it looked strange, the reason I had to move one platform down when Mario was below the wall springboards was to move the camera down, otherwise the winged green koopa would despawn.
The duplications were completely useless, they were necessary for a previous method of hitting the vine block I was trying, but not for the one that ended up working.
Sorry for the bad video quality, I was struggling with video editors.

After the time-up glitch, I did a trick to duplicate the yellow shell. I needed 3 shells to triple-stun and there were only 2 shells in reach, so a duplication was needed. Basically, Yoshi licks the shell offscreen and pushes it to the despawn zone (allowing a new shell to spawn at the spawn zone), but when his tongue retracts the shell materializes back in his mouth.
Then, the first stun glitch was performed - the turn block bridge spawned a vertical green net koopa. I used a coin to item swap the Yellow shell from its spawn zone. The pause and the screen scroll were done to manipulate Mario's fireball active frames, so that it passed by the net koopa without burning it.
Then the second stun glitch was done and the net koopa went to Yoshi's mouth. I only licked it for 1 frame, so that it didn't get properly eat canceled and Mario's cape could still hit it, which is useful because it sets a very high value to its stun timer.
After dropping the stunned net koopa, I had to stay in a very tiny spot where neither the naked blue koopa at the right and the turn block bridge at the left could spawn, otherwise there would be no free slot for the para bomb, which was spawned when the net koopa's stun timer reached 4. Then, the last stun glitch was made to spawn a Reznor from the para bomb, and since Yoshi was in slot 4, spitting out his tongue ended the level.

When you jump into the rope at the end, you must be holding up. There is a roughly 3 pixels window for this trick - the camera could be 1 or 2 pixels further to the right, but not 3. (apparently that's not true, nevermind)
You must pause and unpause at frames of a certain parity, so the probability it will work is 25%.
Copying Amaraticando's explanation for the trick itself:
The technique relies on those facts:
- sprites are spawned when the camera reaches a certain range of 16 pixels;
- the spawn routine happens every other frame;
- pausing the game allows a person to add one more frame of inactivity;
- the camera can travel 2 pixels per frame faster if Mario was facing the opposite side and then turn around the direction he's traveling. This might happen even he's very slow.
- the rope can boost Mario. Without any boost, this tech is impossible with speeds like 49 or 51.
Therefore, in order to skip a certain range, one can try to make the camera follow this pattern:
Frame 0 (active) | Camera is 13-15 mod 16 (just before the range)
Frame 1 (inactive) | Camera is 3-6 mod 16 (game is paused)
Frame 2n + 1 (inactive) | Camera is 10-12 mod 16 (game is unpaused at appropriate frame parity)
Frame 2n + 2 (active) | Camera is 0-2 mod 16 (just after the range)
Values mod 16 might be a bit off.
Today, xHF01x showed this trick that would allow us to get the secret exit with 3 springboards: youtu.be/C43hYXi-1M4
Amaraticando had long ago suggested that getting a shell would be useful because it would allow springboard duplication below the level.
With the springboard's help, it was possible to grab a shell. Thanks to Kaizoman666 for helping with the setup (we were trying simultaneously sharing tips and we managed to get the shell pretty much at the same time).
It turned out that it wasn't even necessary to duplicate the springboard. By performing xHF01x's trick very precisely, you don't need extra springboards to push you right and a shelljump is enough to reach the key.
It is probably possible to do this faster by taking the shell of a koopa that is closer to the keyhole, but I went for that koopa because it was the easiest one.

The main trick in this level was to use Mario's feather to set big values for the stun timer of sprites. At the beginning it was used with the shell to position a blue koopa at the second green springboard, and at the ending it was used with the fish simply to stun it and create Reznor. It's necessary to double tongue twice to get a Reznor from the fish with this method, because when it hits the ground it goes back to the normal state.

The idea here was to double stun. I threw up the stunned superkoopa to buy me more time: as the sliding blue koopa spawned way above the floor, it took longer to turn into a regular naked blue koopa.
Also hitting the superkoopa with the feather sets a huge value for its stun timer, so I was plenty of time to set up the second stun glitch.

Initially, I made a shell to spawn into slot 6, and via a block duplication, I created 2 Yoshi's, and stored the shell in the tongue of one of them, which was invisible. I dropped this one in a pit, and it became 'visible' (though ofscreen) when I dropped the second Yoshi. At this very moment, I made the goal tape to spawn, and since it took slot 6, it warped to the first Yoshi, which was 8 screens below the level. This changed a bit in the goal tape which made Mario to warp to a submap, specifically in Larry's castle position.
Read MrCheeze comment for a better explanation of the goal tape glitch.
This is an improvement of 446 frames, you can read about it here: http://tasvideos.org/4987S.html
(Also, I'm finishing in about a month a Super Mario World small only TAS)
19627 frames and 71405 rerecords.
Notes:
Don't stay with the red shell in Yoshi's mouth too long, otherwise everything will spawn in the wrong slot. Be sure to spit the fireballs out significantly before the sliding blue koopa appears.
In the double tongue glitch part, the first tongue must get the green koopa, and the second tongue must grab the blue koopa. You have to take damage from the red koopa before Yoshi's tongue finishes retracting, so that the blue koopa doesn't go into Yoshi's mouth.
Before going to the sliding blue koopa, kill the blue koopa, otherwise it will spawn in the wrong slot.
Jump in the sliding blue koopa and spit it out, pressing down, as soon as Yoshi reaches the floor. Don't wait to spit it out, or Mario will get hurt. A boss sprite will be spawned there, though it will be invisible. Dismount Yoshi and kill the boss with fireballs. Be careful with it!
*Don't touch the boss: you can determinate it's hitbox with the fire smoke, so take some small distance of it. Don't touch it even with Yoshi, as it hurts Mario directly.
*Don't jump on the boss: if you haven't hit him with at least 2 fireballs when you jump on it, it will warp below the level and you won't be able to kill him. If you have hit him with 2 ore more fireballs, it will die, but its dying animation will be very long and you will lose time.
*Don't go to far from the boss: if you don't stay close to the boss and go too far to the right or to the left, the boss will fly away and 'paralyze' Mario. The only way to exit the level would be waiting time-up, so be sure to avoid this.
*Jump as soon as you hear the boss death noise: the level ends right after then noise, so jump immediately do get Yoshi back.
LATE EDIT: Important to mention that I did this on lsnes... and at the time, it wouldn't run faster than 60% speed in my notebook. So this isn't exactly RTA, but close to it, and the setup itself works fine.
Yep, another Donkey Kong upload. Super Mario World uploads will be back soon: 2 TASes will be finished this year - Super Mario World any% and Kaizo Mario World 3 any%!
Well, this is an improvement of 13 frames to the previous movie.
The improvement is detailed in the submission text, which you can read here: http://tasvideos.org/4869S.html
The improvement comes from a very different route in the second level, a better RNG manipulation just before taking the stairs, and lag reduction. This game only has 2 levels, and keeps repeating them forever, so you can considered the game is 'finished' when you complete the 2 levels once.
Here is the submission link: http://tasvideos.org/4856S.html
First off, you need to stun the Lakitu. It spawns a horizontal fish, that usually isn't very useful in a level without water. The trick is: spawn the fish in the last frame of Lakitu's stun timer, so that the fish is spawned moving really quickly, and it takes the slot that used to be from the cloud!
Lakitu stores the slot of his cloud, so that when you jump on it, he tells the cloud to evaporate as well. This evaporation changes the cloud stun timer. Since now the fish is in the cloud's slot, jumping on the Lakitu will change the fish's stun timer instead! So, just keep the stunned Lakitu somewhere, stun the fish, and then immediately smash the Lakitu. This is enough to the fish to spawn a Reznor, which can be killed thanks to Yoshi's tongue addresses!
Ah, and another useful thing found by Swichpalacecorner. If the cloud never gets to spawn, and the Lakitu spawns without it, jumping on it will change the stun timer of whatever sprite is on slot 0.
Submission with information about the movie and this improvement here: http://tasvideos.org/4797S.html

Many pauses and screen-scrolls were used in this run. Usually the screen scrolls were used to manipulate which sprites would and would not be spawned, since the sprite limit in this level is pretty low. At 1:08, the screen was scrolled to make the naked koopa to fall down quickly, allowing Yoshi to stomp it and get to the pipe. And the pauses had the goal of allowing me to repress X or Y, without spitting out what was in Yoshi's mouth.

Total of 41 exits!
6262 frames.
19888 re-records.
34681 Frames
14496 Re-records
This beats TFB's TAS (youtube.com/watch?v=BoL__8Lu-VQ) by 496 frames or 08.47 seconds. About 279 frames were saved in the boss, because Mario had only 2 lifes, which permitted ending input earlier, and 217 frames were saved with small improvements in the other levels.
In the boss level, dying by corner clipping would also be faster, but the input would be ended later.

We tried to use this in the any%, but after optimizing stun glitch, it finished up being faster than this.
That could be used in pit hacks
It means that this run has to be 51 frames faster to be faster in the any%. I believe there's no way to make the fish to touch the water 51 frames sooner. Definitely some small improvements are possible, and maybe a little bigger ones by stunning other fish instead of spawning one with the P-Switch. But I think a over 50 frame improvement is very improvable.
In the 96 exit run, I think the stun glitch can be used, though.
EDIT: this strat was optimized and used in the any% run.

Total of 40 exits!
So, after Zeldara109 mentioning this level I decided to try it again, and I found that, if you scroll the screen right before corner clipping, Yoshi collects the wings.
EDIT: After more testing, I understood what really happened (my last explanation was wrong.) Yoshi can only collect the wings every other frame, and when activating the block that way Yoshi only touches the wings for 1 frame (and it may be the frame that Yoshi can't collect the wings). By scrolling the screen, I change the frame that Yoshi touches the wings for a frame that he can collect them.

When a mushroom or a fireflower is dropped from the item box, it keeps falling forever and loops through the level. After 18 minutes, it appears on the screen again. That's what happens during the cuts.
The whole smv is 2 hours and 15 minutes long!

This is about 400 frames slower than getting the wings.
EDIT: Since getting wings was improved, now the difference is 500 frames :)
That may be useful for activating the stun timer of sprites that you can't activate normally, like a Yoshi and the Goal Orb, since they can be put in the item box.
