The first two songs from Twenty Four are now available to stream! "07:00 The Morning Comes" is a meditation on God's faithfulness in the newness of each morning. Lamentations 3:23 describes his love and mercy as "new every morning" or "sure as the sunrise" in some translations. I remember one night in Tokyo we missed the last train home and ended up staying up the whole night in the city. My favourite moment was around sunrise as suddenly the stillness of the night began to fade, and people began to emerge, the familiar sounds of the city returned and it really felt like watching a city wake up and begin to sing.
I was thinking about this for the beginning of the beat tape, the start of each day, reminding ourselves of the new mercies and faithfulness of God. Every day is different in some way, but there are still some constants too. The sun still rises, whether we can see it or not.
Also, fun fact: this first track is set to 120 beats per minute - double the speed of a ticking clock, which can be heard throughout the track, acting as a kind of percussion.
