I put my new Holmes Hobbies Revolver 030 and Revolver 050 side-by-side inside the SCX30 to see just how much difference the smaller motor makes.
The 030 is significantly smaller and weighs only 14.2 grams, compared to the larger 050. In a micro crawler, that weight difference matters.
The biggest advantage isn't just saving weight. The 030 fits inside the SCX30 much more cleanly, giving you more room and allowing the motor's weight to sit in a better position.
And here's the crazy part:
I'm not giving up the performance.
With the same KV, the 030 provides essentially the same crawling performance I've been getting from the 050, while being smaller, lighter, and better suited to getting that weight down low and toward the front of the rig.
For competition-style micro crawlers where forward weight bias and every single gram matter, the 030 makes a lot of sense.
