The lights go off in a Paul Klee exhibition. Suddenly, one of the paintings comes to life. Four little birds that had been sitting on top of a strange machine begin to sing a clanky tune. After a while, the machine breaks, and the birds stop their performance. As they return to their position, they reform the painting in its original state.
The animation is an exercise in foley sounds, created for the SFX course of the MSc Animation program of the University of West Attica, under the guidance of the tutor Esthir Lemi (PhD).
The original image was downloaded from Wikipedia and upscaled using Stable Diffusion. All other textures and paintings were also created with Stable Diffusion.
The painting was processed in Photoshop and was separated on its different actors/elements.
The animation was made in After Effects using Duik Bassel. The compositing and final montage was also done in After Effects.
Most of the sounds were recorded at Artracks Recording Studios, with additional sounds recorded using a field recorder. The mixing and mastering was done in Cakewalk.
This animation is for educational and research purposes.
I've found it hiding somewhere in one of my drives!

All background images were provided and can be found at pexels (https://www.pexels.com). Matte extensions where made using Photoshop and Stable Diffusion's outpainting features.
The exercise was made for the course "Visual Effects" of which Fokion Xenos is the tutor.
The course is part of the Master Degree Program in Animation of the University of West Attica, Greece.

The animation of the Bugs was made using the free Duik Bassel plugin for After Effects (rxlaboratory.org/tools/duik-bassel/).

I am puzzled as to why no mainstream reviewer on Youtube has ever mentioned this issue.
This short clip is taken from the forth headset in a row that I've tried. The previous 3 had similar characteristics: non-homogeneous light refractions and dark spots like air trapped in the glass (as seen here on the right lens).
In practice, there is a lot of light bleed, god-rays and halos when viewing anything that has contrasted colors. This is particular noticeable if I stare in one fixed point and move my head around. The light refractions glare in front of the focused area, creating the feeling of wearing smudged or wet lenses.
The channel Virtually Real has very detailed descriptions and footage on this problem. Please check it out. He ordered 4 headsets until he got a good one!

You can see the correct refractions from 3:17 and onward. They are like a rainbow around the lens without breaks or patterns.
I don't think the manufacturing date of the headset reflects the lens quality. The ones o got are from 10/2020, 11/2020, 12/2020 and 1/2021 and are all affected from the bad lens batch.

Since Oculus doesn't support Greece, I don't have a way to have them replace the bad lenses. I was hopping that if I got enough headsets I'll get lucky and have one that has acceptable lenses. After this 4th device I think I've lost any hope...
This was an over ambitious project made for my 3rd semester in the University back in 2010! I didn’t finish it in time and ever since I was trying to advance its progress little by little. After a while, my biggest challenge was to keep up with file management, issues with software version compatibility and, most importantly, composing the music!
Back then, Steve Cutts’ amazing animation “Man” didn’t exist yet, so the idea of a human figure wreaking havoc and mindless destruction on our planet seemed original… Nowadays, due to the corona virus pandemic, the environmental issues perhaps have got sidelined. Never the less, I think that the climate change, how we treat nature and waste valuable resources is more relevant than ever.
Contrarily to the animation, I still hope that humanity, a species still in its infancy, will stop destroying our precious planet.

Some of the issues tackled are:
-Sprite Object is able to hold Texture maps for Diffuse, Normal, Specular and other maps. These are stored within each animation.
-Sprite Object has the option to be tillable, with multiple tile configurations!
-Sprite Object has build-in shadow-casting option, with height parameter and tags (for including-exuding lights)
-Texture maps on the Sprite Object can be activated-deactivated and the result sould be visible on the Editor.
-Lights automatically darken the scene and cut trough the darkness with a falloff (by default)
-Lights can be of a different type: Omnidirectional (point), Spot (these will have an extra parameter for the cone radius and they could simulate flashlights), Directional (for casting parallel shadows like the Sun does) and Ambient (for illuminatind uiformaly the scene, ambient lights should not cast shadows).
-Lights have parameters for Color, Radius (how far in the disstance can they cut through the darkness), Falloff (how sharp the falloff is) and Height (how long of a shadow they cast, in relation to Sprite Object's own Height value).
-Lights and their effect on the scene are visible in the editor and update dynamically!
-The Editor supports draggable input values (when reasonable)!
-Lights affect normal-specular (and what have you) texture maps! Their effect shows in the Editor!
-Light opacity value could affect how much of an overall darkness and color they cast (not mentioned in the video).

Αυτή δεν είναι η τελική μορφή της συγκεκριμένης σκηνής, το φόντο θα έχει την ανάλογη κίνηση παράλλαξης και θα γίνει περαιτέρω επεξεργασία στα χρώματα, στις σκιές και στον γενικότερο "τόνο" της σύνθεσης...
Hellrain is a homage to video games like Space Invaders and the old Arcade Shooting genre.
The player controls a ship with the mouse and has to protect the city, by destroying waves upon waves of falling meteorites.
Hellrain was made as a test, it was a way for me to learn how to program a simple game using Construct 2, Scirra's 2d game creation engine.
It is by no means a finished product, it lacks basic game functions like saving or keeping some kind of a score, but never the less, I think it is still fun to play.

Made for the Department of Fine And Applied Arts of the University of Western Macedonia, Greece, under the guidance of professors Yiannis Ziogas and Vasilys Bouzas.
The project "memories" is an interactive narration through personal thoughts and experiences, divided in 3 parts, each of which represents a different age period.
From childhood to puberty and finally to maturity, each level has a characteristic sub theme that affects its visual aesthetic.
The viewer is called to participate by controlling a paper thin character and navigate into the ever changing landscape.
