AVForums | Sony A95L QD-OLED, X95L MINI LED And Full BRAVIA Range For 2023 (In-Depth Interview). @avforums | Uploaded 1 year ago | Updated 3 days ago
Sony held their European TV launch in Weybridge on the 22nd of February and I was invited along to check out the new models in person and get hands-on. You can watch the in-depth video with an interview with Gavin McCarron from Sony.
The big news is the flagship TV will be the A95L QD-OLED with a new 77-inch screen size available. There is also a new stand design so it doesnt have the lean-back monolith design of the A95K and is better suited for use with a centre speaker or soundbar if required. It also features the new QD-OLED panel from Samsung Display for 2023 with a high-brightness blue EL giving a big jump in overall brightness, especially for full-field white and specular highlights. Added to that is the increased colour volume compared to WOLED and some new processing features from the BRAVIA XR processor including XR Clear Image. There is also Acoustic Surface Audio+ which uses the screen to create the sound and this also features Acoustic Centre Sync, 3D Surround Upscaling, 360 Spatial Sound Personaliser and Ambient optimisation along with support for Dolby Vision 120HZ gaming and two HDMI 2.1 (48Gbps) inputs with VRR, ALLM and eARC thanks to the Pentonic 1000 chip being used. Other game features include a new game menu, dual view and the ability to reduce the picture size to best suit your games and immersive experience. BRAVIA Core is also included with 10 credits and 24 months of free streaming along with BRAVIA CAM being included and the Smart OS is Google TV.
The samples of the A95L seen at the event were very early pre-production units so I am unable to give you any details on the image quality and Ill have to wait until finished retail samples are available for review, but it looks like a promising upgrade over last years model.

The step-down WOLED model for 2023 is the A80L OLED available in screen sizes of 55-, 65-, 77- and 83-inches with pricing yet to be determined. Features include the BRAVIA XR processor with the new XR Clear Image feature, Acoustic Surface Audio+ with the same audio features as the A95L, you get the same 10 credits and free 24 months of BRAVIA CORE streaming, Google TV and support for Dolby Vision, HDR10 and HLG HDR formats and a new positional stand design. There is also the black hairline simple remote control. So in terms of OLED TVs, Sony feels they offer something for everyone.
