The cover is an 8" x 8" cloth covered paper bag, and the pages are various sizes and types of papers. It has a strap elastic and button closure.Paper bags make a great starting point for simple single signature junk journals. I am making a series of them with different fabric covers, a variety of papers, and that I've kept quick for me to make so that I can offer them on my Etsy shop at an affordable price. These journals are quality made but with minimal decorating so that the journaler, scrapbooker, gluer, creator has all the fun of putting their personality onto every page. Too much recycling? How I organized my cardboard stash Kim Victoria, Artist 2026-01-23 | Card board, chip board, packaging, boxes, boxes, and more boxes - gotta organize the pile and then start using this stuff in projects. My solution was to sort everything into categories and then cut most of the cardboard to sizes I like to use and put the little off-cuts and excesses into the fire-starting materials box. The result is neat and tidy, and now I can see what I have, saving time instead of always having to dig for what I want to use. I feel it was an excellent use of my afternoon. Acrylic Painting Class Lesson #4 Shades of Gray and Seeing Tones part 1 Kim Victoria, Artist 2026-01-11 | In this lesson I demonstrate painting a scale of grays in acrylic, white to raw umber (because I don't have any black acrylic), the tones. This is an important practice to help you see the light and dark tones, which will help you to see the tones of colors, which I will demonstrate in Part 2I highly encourage you to paint this scale, and more than once, because this practice is much like playing scales in music. In music you are hearing the tones, in painting you are seeing the tones, and seeing is everything in what I teach.I need this practice because, even though I've been painting in oils for over 40 years, I haven't painted in acrylics very much and the 2 mediums are very different.There is also a video for oils. In part 2 I will explore the tones of colors for you. And in part 3 I will demonstrate a still life painting in just shades of gray.Painting is a Visual Language. When learning a verbal language you want to speak it isn't necessary to conjugate verbs right away. When learning a visual language it isn't necessary to learn color theory right away. I propose that you start right away by learning to see so you can express what you choose for others to see in your art. Blue Jeans & Bandana Junk Journal Flip Through both empty & full Kim Victoria, Artist 2025-10-04 | I share this one first as empty of all the goodies that I made to go in the pockets. At 13:28 I share the journal full up.Blue Jeans and bandana journal is my original art concept, with inspiration for what elements to put in the signatures from Natasa on @TreasureBooks videos. youtu.be/oqSMVQxjOL8?si=wODo1ivKULYIPR-5I challenged myself to make a journal with old blue jeans. As I often do, I set aside a space to gather together the materials that would best suit the project. Once I had enough stuff it became time to put it all together.This is sewn journal cover. The core is buckram and quilt batting sewn together and the blue jeans fabric is hand sewn on as are the closure ties. The pockets were partially machine sewn and the top of the pockets are all hand sewn. Overall there is a lot of stitching in this journal both machine and handThis is a very chunky writing journal and scrapbook, also for drawing, adding photos, memorabilia, a dream journal, all the usual goodness.Blue Jeans Journal has three signatures with a total of 116 pages front and back, plus 33 tags, notepads and Journaling cards, and more. It is 9-1/2" tall x 6-1/2" wide x 3" thick - ChunkyI included an envelope with bits and pieces left over for creative use, along with a few other embellishments. Tutorial Mini Album with Signature made from 12x12 Scrapbook Card Stock Kim Victoria, Artist 2025-09-26 | This is a mini album, writing journal, tag book, place to play, add memorabilia and photos, fun project.Full tutorial for these mini album journals made with 12" x 12" scrapbook card stock. It is built from the outside-into the center (unlike other journal types). It can also be made to other sizes, which I hope my instructions will make clear.I gave a little time to going through my papers to organize them and look for inspiration. I pulled out a few projects and these pretty papers reminded me of Natasa's 6"x6" mini album project, except I wanted to do it differently by including a signature and make it bigger. To do that I needed to just do it and not talk. Once done I found that it took me about 20-30 minutes for each bag, not including gathering the materials. Tutorial Purple TIME Layered Writing & 6x6 Journals (after Natasa @TreasureBooks) Kim Victoria, Artist 2025-07-18 | These journal sets are available in my Etsy shop: etsy.com/shop/KimVictoriaArtistAs promised in my previous video flip through of the Purple Time Layered Writing Journal I am now making a second one with the other half of the scrapbook kit.This turned into a long video so I have provided chapters for your convenience. I also apologize that I didn't set the audio microphone correctly so the sound is not as nice as my usual video quality.This IS a writing journal, also for drawing, adding photos, memorabilia, a dream journal, or even as a beautiful way to think about your personal time and relationship TO time.Layered journal has one signature of 32 pages front and back in the center section, plus a notepad, and lots of smaller writing spaces, tags, cards, and notes. It is 10-1/2" tall x 6-1/2" wide x 1" thick when tied closedAlso an envelope with bits and pieces left over from the kit for your creative use. Small journal is 6-1/2" X 6" X 3/8" thick, and has plenty of writing space and places for photos, memorabilia, etc.Fun finds included: scrapbook kit "A Moment in Time" by Heartfelt Creations, flowery printer paper, paper flowers, pretty trims, and muslin. To these I added my Easter Egg dyed papers.Scrapbook kits make an interesting start to a journal yet there is a challenge to using these kits differently than they were originally intended. It has some junk in it too - recycled packaging cardboard, envelopes and playing cards. It is decorative outside and in, featuring sewing, yarns, clips, charms, coloring book images, calendar cut-outs, and more. It is the result of 3 days of creativity.Write, draw, add photos of your favorite cat(s), make this journal/scrapbook your own.It is very full and chunky. 3 signatures sewn in with the 3-hole pamphlet stitch, 216 pages front and back, plus 25 tags in pockets, over 23 journaling cards and notes, extras in 2 envelopes, and 4 cards that can be mailed. It is elegant and vintagey all at once. I created a lot of different elements to make this an unique and interactive writing journal. One signature is all notation pages, which I custom spaced for writing, yet would be perfect for writing music.This a chunky journal with 3 signatures, each with a different personality, 248 pages front and back, plus tags, journaling cards, notebooks and more. Layered Travel Journal after Natasa of @TreasureBooks Kim Victoria, Artist 2025-06-06 | This video is simply a flip through of the Layered Travel Journal.I followed the 2 tutorials created by Natasa of @TreasureBooks for her Layered Journal. Her tutorials are brilliant. I love her creativity and am always inspired. I've learned a great deal from Natasa and can recommend all her videos.Natasa's tutorial:youtube.com/watch?v=N_YIRr-JBe8&t=1342sThis layered journal idea intrigued me and looked like a fun challenge so I simply HAD to do it.I have a LOT of scrapbook papers that were gifted to me. One group was all about world travel and with a vintage vibe so I choose that group as my starting point and for much of the embellishing. I also have small paper pads with travel as the theme. Even with tutorials to follow and plenty of materials to play with it took the better part of 3 days to put this journal together. The result is beautiful, chunky, and fun. I learned some new techniques and ideas, and I want to make another one with a completely different color scheme and style.
