Am I the Only One Who Doesnt Like the New Premium Gold Rare? | Yu-Gi-Oh! Maximum Gold 5 Box Opening JDGaming 2020-11-17 | Maximum Gold is a very... interesting Yu-Gi-Oh! Set. While its new and improved Premium Gold Rare Technology does have its high points, there have been a ton of quality control consistency issues that could make this one of the most ridiculous sets in the game's history. Was the mass production of this intricate gold foil too much for Konami to transfer to the TCG?There's also the issue on these cards physically being thicker - raised edges look gorgeous and make the art pop, but the cards have varying thickness where those edges occur so that you can even feel them through the fronts of your sleeves. Whether this will amount to any real issues with play remains to be seen.Overall, I think Maximum Gold is a fun set to explore, and definitely worth checking out. This display box was definitely full of surprises along the way that I found enjoyable. The Gap | A Problem with Improvement in Art, Life, and Yu-Gi-Oh! JDGaming 2020-07-22 | One of the inherent problems with improvement is the seemingly inevitable difference in how quickly someone can understand what is good versus their actual skill development to match their tastes. This leads to "the gap" - an uncomfortable dissonance between what one thinks is "good" and the relatively worse output one can create at the time. Given enough practice and patience, it is possible to bridge the gap, but it's not always an easy process to accomplish or accept.The last month, I have been struggling to put together a Gigavise Deck that lived up to the standards I had developed over years of playing Yu-Gi-Oh! Metalfoes Deck Profile June 2020 JDGaming 2020-06-20 | Metalfoes have consistently been one of my favorite archetypes - initially because they were Psychics, and then due to the amazing flexibility of the archetype as an engine and its own deck. Much like the Pendulum Mechanic itself, they've undergone many changes in the few years they were around, and their boss Electrumite is currently banned in the TCG. Despite it all, they somehow always manage to impress me time and time again.Today, I'm bringing a version that packs double the heat: A spicy tech in Magicians' Souls to trigger 2 Metalfoes Combinations while drawing 2 cards, AND an Extra Deck-centric combo that leverages Linkross and Proxy F Magician to Summon First of the Dragons. That was my experience when I pulled a copy of Magicians' Souls in a box of Legendary Duelist: Magical Hero. The potential of new cards and sheer nostalgia from some of the most iconic cards in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game gave me a strong itch to try out the new Dark Magician support, and so I played around with the deck for a while since my "Banlist Blues."
