PETE MAD DADDY MYERS - What Is a Fisteris?Bloozmonkey2010-11-03 | Pete "Mad Daddy" Myers (1928-1968), was a popular Cleveland radio personality and radio DJ in the late 50s and 60s, and a major pioneer in rock history.
This beatnik-styled flop is his only record done under the alias "The Joker" from 1959.HORACE HELLER - Hello World !Bloozmonkey2013-01-22 | Hey nuts ! Sorry about my last post, I had to kill it. Constant claims and complaints were made in my comment box so I finally caved in and removed it, it was mental let me tell you. (Oh ! And I had to remove two others as well, so it was a crappy week on YouTube). Anyway, to make amends, I'm throwing in this 45 outer-space themed gasser on Dollie by Horace Heller. The song's a great trip ! Its about a guy who went up on Mars, but his time-spent wasn't really 'fat city'. How he got there isn't described in detail, but it's clear the guy was just smoking something and went outta his mind. Its a far out novelty rocker to say the least, from 1959, kicked off with a clip from "Devil Girl From Mars". - And let's hope this one sticks ! Enough jabbering, enjoy the show folks !THE TRIADS - HushBloozmonkey2012-11-27 | Here is the B side of the fantastically inept version of Bacon Fat - also posted on this channel only under the name 'Hambone Hunter' - because it was taken from the Wavy Gravy lp. And I just recently found a copy of The Triads' 45 on Ringo featuring Bacon Fat and Hush so I thought I'd include the flip side here too. I don't think it's ever been comped, and it doesn't even show up on the usually in depth INSTROMANIA website.INFLAMMABLE DAN & THE IGNITERS - High Flying WineBloozmonkey2012-11-06 | REALLY digging this latest find. Not only is this 45 a fantastic example of the 60's Pittsburgh teen craze, but the A-side is a Mad Mike tune spun on his radio show, or DJ gigs around 1964, which makes it right at home here in Bloozmonkey land. But first, a little movie clip to kick things off the right way ! Enjoy the show folks !EVANS CARROLL - The MonsterBloozmonkey2012-10-15 | As its that time of the year (or is everyday in someone's case!), I wanted to stay away from the usual novelty type Halloween songs. That's why I thought this crunchy instrumental, which sounds like zombies and monsters road-tripping and marauding on human body-assembled vehicles, would be a much better choice ! Re-tooled and re-posted... make yourselves comfortable and enjoy the show ! Happy Halloween everyone !TOM BROWN & THE TOM TOMS - TomahawkBloozmonkey2012-08-08 | An Indian-howling mental instro and your usual retro trashy strip-sleaze, spookshow, horror schwag to boot. What more could you want?DON DURANT - Seal RockBloozmonkey2012-05-24 | Hey freaks ! Here's a Mad Daddy 45, played in 1958 on his radio shows on WJW. I had a tough time tracking this record but it was well worth the bother. For those who don't know who Pete "Mad Daddy" Myers is, do yourself a favour and listen to some of his airchecks posted here on youtube. His shows are the stuff of legend and his verbiage was tighter than a gnat's anus - hours of fun guaranteed ! That's it, enjoy the show, and see you soon !TOMMY DEE & THE MELLOTONES - DragonflyBloozmonkey2012-05-14 | I could imagine hypnotised teenagers at a 50's sock hop just moving randomly in a zombie-like manner, while this is playing on the gramophone. Perhaps?THE ECHOMEN - Long GreenBloozmonkey2012-05-07 | Hiya weird-ohs ! Here's an interesting 45 (well, one side of it at least), from Minneapolis in the 60's. I first heard it on one of DAVE THE SPAZZ shows and went searching for it. I think the A side was compiled on the HIPSVILLE LP volume 3, but the b-side has never been re-ished to my knowledge. They would later become The Bedlam Four where they recorded more notable stuff, but this is the band's only 45 under this name. OK, enjoy the show and see ya soon !THE WILD TONES - Sick ChickBloozmonkey2012-05-03 | I bought this a few years ago on a website of a guy selling various stuff and I had about 15 or so second sound clip to go along with it. Those few seconds had me smiling immediately. Sometimes, even for me, its hard to believe the kind of weird and wackadoo stuff that came out in the music industry during the 50's, but that's what this channel is about anyway. There's been lots of songs done in this manner, but every time I listen to them I shake my head - what were these guys on?! Banter aside, here's your fresh dose of insanity, a great 45 on Madison from 1958, embalmed as usual ! Enjoy !BERNIE MOORE - HeartbreakBloozmonkey2012-04-25 | I'm a sucker for dark and moody instrumentals, and this one deserves to be in a cult film - think Tarantino movies with drug scenes ! Released in 1957, on Planet X (how weird does this sound?!).THE STARLETTES - Jungle LoveBloozmonkey2012-04-12 | Here we have "Battle Of The Amazons" spliced with "Jungle Love", a mixture that when combined equals a heady meal !
Adden-dumb: I sorta messed up while writing the name IN the video correctly (must be the head cold). The group's name is "The Starlettes" like it says in the title.ORVILLE COUCH - Wild GirlBloozmonkey2012-03-26 | Hard to find 45 here on Action. Orville was a country / rockabilly singer from Texas, not very known apart through some ditties he recorded for Starday and Dixie. This one might be better known only to people who were lucky in life (like me!), to have stumbled upon the wonderful Mello Jello lps. Other than that, it's the usual... vampire bats, ghouls, firecrackers & other garbage... so enjoy the show !HECTOR & THE EASTMEN - Switch MeBloozmonkey2012-03-01 | By popular demand, here's a great tittyshaker by a guy called Hector (and his Eastmen). This is apparently a hard to find record. There is a brief mention of it on the Internet and I believe this track was comped on one of the Twistin' Rumble editions. The flip side is Wobble Lou, and it's on the Tune-Kel label. Really nice grinding action on this one... So dust off your tassles and check it out !TONY CARR & THE RIFF RIDERS - Johnny FrankensteinBloozmonkey2012-02-28 | Hey freaks ! Here's a slightly mangled copy of Tony Carr's JOHNNY FRANKENSTEIN. I recently stumbled on the infamous I WAS A TEENAGE BRAIN SURGEON LP (finally!), and just had to post something from it. Can't tell you much about this tune, probably late 50's and it's one of those teen /dance/ Halloween party songs... from hell. So happy Halloween, right?THE MISFITS (not those ones) - Route 66Bloozmonkey2012-02-04 | Ok, so here's a rare one (from what I'm told), that I recently stumbled across, an Indiana band on Repent. This is the flip to "No One Else" which is a half-descent garage jangler, this side really packs a sweet lead guitar and a cute rockabilly solo. No info on its year release, and from what I know, hasn't been comped at all.THE PHANTOM FIVE - Cool ItBloozmonkey2012-01-23 | This one's a real head scratcher. Collect records long enough and you're bound to stumble upon something obscure as this. It's the band's sole 45, and (ok, let see how long it takes the internet to show me I'm wrong), from the early 60s. Apart from that, there's nothing on this group whatsoever. Both sides are great. The b side 'Graveyard', is a spooky surf instrumental, but the a side is the winner here in my opinion and to my knowledge, hasn't been comped anywhere. So much for my posts for this month....... more to come soon !KIP ANDERSON - I Wanna Be The Only OneBloozmonkey2012-01-22 | Alright weirdos, let's go "church" !THE PENDLETONS - Itchy Bon MashBloozmonkey2011-12-10 | Hey freaks ! Here's a new crazy record for you to dig during this festive season. Thanks again for all your help & support during this weird year ! You guys are more than I could ask for... happy holidays everyone & stay wavy !!THE FACETS - Johnny B. GoodeBloozmonkey2011-11-28 | ... YEAH, that one. Apart from the madness I post here, I do (!) like obscure and never before heard covers, and this one really left me with an ear-worm. Early 60's? The sound is a bit scratchy, but we can give it a nod. Enjoy !THE TUXEDOS - Monkey BeatBloozmonkey2011-11-17 | Well, Bloozmonkey has been silent for too long. So, here's a recent find that I'm really digging right now. It's a fantastic jungle themed slab of monkey awesomeness done "Bo Diddley style", and it's off-beat as hell ! I think Tarzan said it best when he exclaimed, UNGAWA ! So enjoy the 'first' in an ongoing (hopefully) series of posts weirdos, more nonsense on the way !THE ARDELLS - Stronger Than DirtBloozmonkey2011-07-17 | Always look on the b side, kids ! Here's your usual weekly dose of trash, a great instrumental version of STRONGER THAN DIRT (based on the old AJAX detergent commercial from the 60s). It appeared as a b side to Midnight Train, and after a few cute attempts at the vocal in the studio convinced everyone to leave it as an instrumental. Neither side received much airplay at the time... enjoy the show !ART ROBERTS - Terrible IvanBloozmonkey2011-07-04 | Here's a great 50's goofball jangler on IMPERIAL records, an a side to "Give Her The Axe, Max" and a Halloween party must. If anyone keeps track of such things, this is one of my favourite BEST OF THE WORST Halloween 45's spun by Mad Mike ! Oh, and I added a new "intro" bit to my videos, I hope it won't ruin your listening enjoyment too much :PRICKY ROY - Screamin MimiBloozmonkey2011-06-27 | Sheesh ! Sorry for the lack of posts lately, the past few weeks have been bonkers. Here's a "screaming" rock&roll doozy, and one that's often been overlooked since I haven't seen it comped anywhere. The song is mentioned as being an excerpt from "We All Scream For Ice-Cream", but I really wouldn't know, so if you have any info on this feel free to chime in !THE GARDENIAS - HoudiniBloozmonkey2011-06-06 | Here's a great "grinder" by The Gardenias. The a side of this record is a descent 50's doo wop gem, but the b side is a winner here - I think it was compiled on the TWISTIN RUMBLE LP volume 6, and (!) it's one of Mad Mike's smashes, although it wasn't included on the Norton "Monster" series. Pity, because it would be right at home there. Be that as it may, enjoy a small piece of Pittsburgh history !KAY CEE JONES - Johnny, Johnny, JohnnyBloozmonkey2011-05-28 | Everyone knows Eddie's "Jeannie, Jeannie, Jeannie", right? Hell, it's been played from here to eternity. But are you familiar with Kay Cee Jones' version of it? I can't decide which one I like better, they are both such amazing records .... but this one's got GRAVY written all over it !COBWEBS - Devil Girl 66 (CHIMNEY SWEEPS)Bloozmonkey2011-05-14 | OK, this time's record offering comes from the Cobwebs, or Chimney Sweeps as they supposedly also went by - and when it comes to primitive, lo-fi garage (yikes!), this one easily hits the top 5 - it almost sounds like a demo track, or at least a 'take'. These guys were from Australia and were a pretty obscure act from what I've managed to find out, apparently they only made a few gigs and eventually this somehow got on wax. Now this isn't most people's bag of musical tastes, but I LOVE this stuff - a party record in my opinion, anytime ! Enjoy the tune folks (and the radio trailer too).DON & THE GALAXIES - SundownBloozmonkey2011-05-05 | Here's the amazing instrumental hitter from DON AND THE GALAXIES! Now, anyone who loves The Cramps should have heard this tune as it was compiled on the "Songs The Cramps Taught Us, Vol. 2" LP. As I'm a huge Cramps fan, browsing through YT for their stuff to listen to, I realised this wasn't posted. I immediately set to find an appropriate trailer, a few cool pics and thought I'd chime in (I couldn't help it!). This is such a great tune and any song that even has a passing resemblance to Duane Eddy's version of RAMROD, is an ace in my book. Enjoy it folks!JOHNNY HONEYCUTT - Blue Songs Of LoveBloozmonkey2011-05-01 | Here's a cute little gem by Johnny Honeycutt - another lost (?) rocker of the 50's, and the song is full-blown "high school hop" material ! This came out in 1957, and every time I hear it, it brings a smile to my face.DON UGLOW & THE TEDDY BOYS - She Rocked With MeBloozmonkey2011-04-11 | After barely escaping with my life from another adventure I had in the wild Congo looking for records (no, really!), I made it back to my lair, and man... I'm TOTALLY excited about this latest find! OK, enough of that... this is, in my humble view, a fantastic flop of 50's corky and cool, teenage awesomeness. So, put your wighat on and enjoy!JOHNNY & THE DEBONAIRES - The BonecrackerBloozmonkey2011-04-02 | From what I know this is a rare Pittsburgh oldie from around the late 50s or early 60s (?) occasionally played by Porky Chedwick and perhaps Mad Mike Metrovich, and it's a NICE Las Vegas Grind style 'bump & grind-er' - kicked off with a little radio movie ad I found from Pete 'Mad Daddy' Myers (you can even hear the "wavy gravy" bubbling sound at the beginning!)... I know, I'm such a child : )WALTER STONE (THE MANIAC) - Im Not Good LookinBloozmonkey2011-03-22 | I have no idea who Walter Stone is or was, but this here is definitely a no-nonsense 50s style record (although it's from 1967). Something in the style of Hasil Adkins or King Uszniewicz (only not so out of tune), which literally IS music to my ears - raw and noisy, just like it should be!THE COEDS - Jukebox!Bloozmonkey2011-03-12 | Here's something Pete 'Mad Daddy' Myers used to play during his radio show in the late 50s. A playful r&b ditty, complete with a radio spot intro from the mad genius himself!BOBBY STANTON SEXTET - Scree...ArghBloozmonkey2011-02-22 | Sheesh, this one's a doozy! THE instrumental surf /dance/ teen party record.....from hell!THE BLOCKBUSTERS - Gorilla WalkBloozmonkey2011-02-13 | An obscure ape themed instrumental offering from a group I absolutely know nothing about. Full of fancy guitar licks and gorilla chuckles (good enough for me!).MALCOLM MILLER - Snuff DipperBloozmonkey2011-01-25 | A very strange country love song form a fairly obscure artist. Tale says it emerged from a little record label set up in a small Huntsville, Alabama house.THE PUDDLE JUMPERS - Quiet DadBloozmonkey2011-01-17 | Deranged tittyshaker and some pudding, anyone?!DAVE STARKY FIVE - Hey EverybodyBloozmonkey2011-01-08 | Raucous and ready 60's garage rock here from the Dave Starky Five group, but first, some retro radio candy to set the mood!THE FIVE JETS - Crazy ChickenBloozmonkey2010-12-20 | Nice 50's doo wop here, embalmed in your usually demented fashion. This group performed under many names, "The Thrillers", "Voice Masters", I even think as "The Five Dollars". This one however was recorded as The Five Jets.THE TYPHOONS - Typhoon TwistBloozmonkey2010-12-12 | Nice instrumental here by The Typhoons. It would be cool if I could start this sentence with something like "Legend has it..." but surprisingly (or not), there's very little info about them or this track. Enjoy!THE TIKIS - High School Dropout BluesBloozmonkey2010-12-03 | Obscure 60's garage blues, with a little radio spot intro (your usual audio pie in the face)... enjoy!HARRY SNYDER - The NeedleBloozmonkey2010-11-25 | What we have here is one of those demented country novelties, usually violence-prone and utterly twisted. This one too, is no exeption. Harry Snyder sings about death and heroin crisis, and even though country may not be everybody's bag, its kinda cool and creepy, in a 'macabre' sort of way.
(And remember kids, people who take drugs are loosers!).THE RANGERS - Mogul MonsterBloozmonkey2010-11-10 | A wild, frantic 60's garage instrumental produced by Kim Fowley. The music literally throbs and pulses along with a bat-shit crazy guitar! But first, a little radio clip to kick things off (listen loud!).PETE MAD DADDY MYERS - I Love a Practical JokeBloozmonkey2010-11-07 | The flip side of Pete "Mad Daddy" Myers' sole 45.BIG BOY GROVES - Bucket o BloodBloozmonkey2010-10-31 | Bucket o' bloooooood .... bucket o' bloodHALLOWEEN TRIPLE TERROR SHOW - Cannibal Stew, Honey Hush & Red AntsBloozmonkey2010-10-21 | Sit back, turn off the lights and grab a cold one! Three tunes thrown into a pot with more nonsense, monsters, hot birds, ghouls and other stupidities than you can shake a stick at, all accompanied with old radio and b-movie trailers for your listening pleasures, what more could you possibly want?!AL HENDRIX - Aftershave LotionBloozmonkey2010-09-23 | Wait till you get a wiff of his aftershave lotion!JOHNNY DONN & THE JAZZROCKERS - SmogBloozmonkey2010-09-16 | A greasy piece of r&b here by Johnny Donn & the Jazzrockers. Rumor has it that it was recorded as a tribute to the air in L.A.THE PLAYBOYS - Mope De MopeBloozmonkey2010-09-01 | Here's a nice b side by The Playboys, a 1963 number on Legato. Kicked off with another radio trailer intro for your listening pleasures. Enjoy!JIMMY KELLY & THE ROCK-A-BOUTS - Little ChickieBloozmonkey2010-08-03 | Here's another rare gem to soothe your cravings for obscure rock and roll. A nice 50's doo wop piece from the Mad Mike series, packed with a radio trailer for your listening delight. By Jimmy Kelly & The Rock-A-Bouts.
