Driving in the New Forest requires great care as there are animals roaming freely - horses, ponies, cows and pigs. There a lot of cattle grids! The glamping pod was very well appointed and cosy. Facilities there were excellent with very clean shower blocks, lavatories and dish washing facilities. There is also a pub on site that serves food. BMW Headlamp Restoration / Polycarbonate Buffing - UV Damage Fix Auto Knight 2025-09-19 | In this YouTube video from Auto Knight, I buff and restore the polycarbonate headlamps on my 2009 BME 3-series 330d E90 in Montego Blue, fitted with the silky smooth N57 straight six diesel engine.The headlights on this car had UV / sun damage which had damaged the surface of the lamp, giving an opaque yellowed look with raised residue. I use a rechargeable powertool, a Draper polisher/mop, with Farecla G3 Pro F 38.2 cutting compound, followed by a Turtle Wax product to seal and protect. This is a messy job and it is important to prevent splashing from this process that can be hard to remove from plastic trim - as such, any vulnerable areas were covered and protected with a large sheet. To improve the ICE (in Car Entertainment) / stereo / radio / audio system, I fit replacement 'surface mount' speakers in the doors of the vehicle. I fit Pioneer TS-G1720F 17cm 2-way speakers, purchased from Amazon. This model is a replacement for the earlier TS-G1710F and has a wider frequency range than its predecessor. In a previous YouTube video, during handbrake cable replacement I found the o/s/r (right rear) cable to be seized in the hub carrier. I also found seriously overheated brake pads from a seized brake caliper. I freed up and removed the seized cable, fitted a new Pagid caliper, new brake pads, a wear sensor and a spring/pin fitting kit for the handbrake shoes. This can cause faults such as failure of electric windows, central locking, lighting and various other consumers contained within the affected body panel.I repair the loom by soldering in new wires, ensuring the joints are within the body or panel of the car and not in the flexible section. Soldered joints do not bend and should never be in the flexible conduit. The use of crimp type connectors is not a method I would use. Belgian Railway SNCB NMBS Alstom Train Blankenberge - Brugge Auto Knight 2025-06-03 | In this video I show a short train / railway / railroad journey between Blankenberge and Brugge in Belgium, Europe (European Union). The Alstom train was immaculately clean and the service was incredibly punctual. On our return journey there was a station block upon arrival into Blankenberge with multiple police, railway staff and an Alsatian / German Shepherd dog. All passengers were instructed to form a line and no person could leave until the dog had sniffed etched person and deemed them clean. First Ride - New Caltrain Stadler Rail KISS EMU Rolling Stock Hillsdale - San Francisco USA Auto Knight 2025-05-30 | Caltrain is an American commuter rail line in California, serving the San Francisco Peninsula and Santa Clara Valley, known as Silicon Valley. This is my first ride on the new Caltrain rolling stock from Stadler Rail of Switzerland. Caltrain replaced their ageing fleet of old diesel trains with the modern European Stadler KISS EMU, Electric Multiple Unit, which are powered by overhead lines. The rail track and journey was impressively smooth, seating comfortable, air conditioning excellent and with a very modern, efficient and clean feel to the service. These units represent in a leap in sustainability and are far more environmentally friendly than their noisy, air polluting predecessors. I observed very positive interactions between staff and passengers, along with a robust approach to fare evasion. Whilst technically not a barn find, this motorcycle had been dry-stored for several years and was not roadworthy. The Elyseo is quite a large scooter for its capacity and shares many technical components with the more sporty Speedfight and Speedfight 2 models.I replaced components including: CVT Continuously variable transmission belt, toothed pulley and rollers, kickstarter components, starter motor bendix, front brake caliper piston and seal kit, due to caliper seized. Brake pads, fuel and oil hose, fuel and oil filter, air filter foam element, spark plug, carburettor gasket set due to sediment in float bowl blocking jets, fully synthetic two-stroke oil, instrument illumination / warning bulb, can of spray paint, final drive gear oil, wheel trim / cap. Transfer Box Fluid Change - BMW X5 E53 - Directional Transmission Judder/Shudder 4x4 SUV Auto Knight 2025-05-09 | In this YouTube video from Auto Knight, I change the transfer box fluid / transfer case oil on a 2005 BMW X5 E53 fitted with the M57 3.0 straight six diesel engine from Steyr and a manual transmission / stick shift. This is a popular and successful 4x4 SUV model from BMW with strong German build quality. This vehicle was presented to me with a slow speed directional shudder / judder which was felt through the transmission, steering and body of the car. The vehicle would display this fault primarily when turning left or right at slow speeds either when slowing down to turn, or when accelerating and turning in either direction when pulling away. It could easily have been mistaken for a failing CV joint.The transfer box is located above a plastic undertray which must first be removed to gain access. I drain out the old fluid, then using a transfer pump from Amazon, I refill with the genuine DTF 1 fluid, purchased from a BMW dealership. The fluid was priced at just under £40 for the litre and the capacity was estimated at 700ml. Replacing Starter Motor - BMW E90 E91 E92 E93 E9X N52 3-Series 330i Auto Knight 2025-05-02 | In this YouTube video from Auto Knight, I replace the starter motor on a 2006 BMW 330i E90 fitted with the N52 six cylinder petrol / gasoline engine. I replaced the starter motor around a month ago with a Bosch exchange unit, which was remanufactured in Ukraine, due to a total failure of the original starter. Having scanned the vehicle with diagnostic equipment, the following fault code was present: A0B4 - CAS: engine start, starter operation.Some time after, the replacement starter motor had become intermittent, with the solenoid simply clicking when the vehicle is hot, creating a non-start / breakdown situation. The same fault code returned. I replaced the component under parts warranty however it is disappointing that Euro Car Parts (ECP) would not pay any labour, so this second installation has been done at my expense in terms of time. This job is done from above and requires removal of the intake manifold, plenum chamber assembly including cabin pollen filter assembly, air filter box and air intake hoses / ducts. Final Drive Belt, Rollers & Fixing Front Brakes - Peugeot Elyseo 100 2-Stroke Scooter Auto Knight 2025-04-04 | Work continues on the 2000 Peugeot Elyseo 100 2-stroke scooter which is mechanically very similar to the popular Speedfight moped/sports scooter.Whilst not technically a barn find, this motorcycle has been dry stored for many years and is now being recommissioned and prepared for an MOT test - a mandatory annual UK vehicle inspection to ensure reaches a standard of roadworthiness (there are some exemptions).This YouTube video from Auto Knight includes bleeding the 2-stroke oil feed pipe, fitting a new CVT (constantly variable transmission) drive belt and variator rollers, changing the final drive gear oil, dismantling and rebuilding the seized front caliper which included replacing the front pads and bleeding the brake fluid. Replacing Fuel & 2-Stroke Oil Pipes - Peugeot Elyseo 100 & Speedfight Auto Knight 2025-03-28 | I continue to recommission my 2000 Peugeot Elyseo 100 2-stroke scooter, which is mechanically very similar to the Speedfight 100 and 50cc moped.I replace the petrol / gas lines /pipes, the oil lines and also the inline fuel and oil filters which I attached using crimp type clips. Fuel lines can harden due to natural ageing of the rubber or incorrect use of E10 fuel. I removed the oil pump and correctly adjusted this.
