Regarding the quality of the glasses, all three brands offer sturdy glasses and lenses. I did not have any of these frames break or anything of the sort, though I'll note that I tend to rotate my glasses regularly, so no single pair gets a ton of wear.

They don't all sell the same exact frames, so if you find a pair that you like and which is only sold by one of these online glasses brands, you should definitely purchase those instead of buying a less-appealing pair of glasses based solely on the seller.

As of this review, Firmoo had more than 500 different glasses in their web store. This is quite a large selection though perhaps not as extensive as those of competitors such as Zenni or EyeBuyDirect.

Nevertheless, Firmoo does have a ton of different frames, many of which you may not find on competitor's sites.

When it comes to Firmoo's prices, they are quite affordable. In my latest order, I purchased four different prescription glasses, and the order total was around $80, so ~$20 per pair which I find to be highly reasonable.

Once you've found frames that you want to purchase, I suggest creating your own account on Firmoo's website and uploading your prescription.

When you're selecting your frames, you'll get the chance to select from different types of lenses and tints (sunglasses).

On their website, Firmoo states that your new glasses will be delivered in two weeks. In my experience, this figure is accurate, and my latest order took exactly 2 weeks to arrive at my door.

After trying various other online glasses sellers, I found Firmoo to be up-to-par. I've had no issues with the lenses being blurry or causing headaches.

With each pair of Firmoo glasses, you can expect to receive a drawer-style glasses case along with a cleaning cloth pouch and some informational pamphlets.

After using Hexclad's pans and knives for over a month, in this video, I review their quality, features, and value for money.

Although I am far from a chef, I quite enjoy cooking and was excited to try Hexclad as I had seen them numerous times around social media. In this video, I was using Hexclad to cook breakfast tacos but I've used them to cook various other types of food as well.

Hexclad markets their pots and pans as hybrid cookware as they're designed to perform as carbon steel pans with the durability of cast iron and convenience of non-=stick ceramic-coated pans. Accordingly, the surface of the pans is boasts a hex pattern with a diamond dust coating.

01:02 Advantages of Hexclad
With Gordon Ramsay referring to these as the "Rolls Royce of pans" so they have quite a reputation to live up to. In my experience while cooking with Hexclad, I identified the following advantages of Hexclad.

First, Hexclad pans have very solid construction and proper weight to them. The handle is also quite ergonomic and does not heat up while cooking.

Next, the design and aesthetic of Hexclad's cookware is certainly very appealing, so they'll look great in your kitchen - in fact, I've already received quite a few compliments from friends who came to visit.

Hexclad's pots & pans are also metal safe, dishwasher safe, can be put into the oven up to 500 degrees (both pan and lid), and are all backed by a lifetime warranty.

Lastly, when it comes to cleaning after cooking, this was very easy as none of the food I cooked with Hexclad became stuck to the pans. I will note that I've been hand-washing my Hexclad pans as I don't currently have a dishwasher at my disposal, though I assume it'd work just as well.

02:30 Disadvantages of Hexclad Pans
When it comes to cons, I struggled to find any downsides to Hexclad. I suppose the price point can be restrictive, but Hexclad is undoubtedly not the most expensive set of pans out there.

Nevertheless, if you consider that you can buy a set of Hexclad pans and use them for more than 5 years, then the value proposition becomes evident.

02:45 Hexclad Knives Review
Hexclad now offers a range of Japanese Damascus Steel knives which are absolutely beautiful on the surface and just as useful. The knives are quite sharp, and can be purchased with a magnetic knife block that helps to keep them organized.

The blades consist of 67 layers of steel and have a 60 Rockwell sharpness rating.

Overall, Hexclad's knives are the best set of knives that I've used. Before getting these, I had spent quite a number of hours watching Forged in Fire and was always attracted by the look of Damascus Steel, so I'm glad that Hexclad did a phenomenal job with these and did not smear the reputation that preceded this type of steel.

Ultimately, I was very happy with Hexclad's products and would be more than willing to spend the money on their pots, pans, and knives myself.

As of this review, Zenni has more than 1000 pairs of glasses listed on its website. While there is great variety, the prices remain very accessible compared to other sellers, either online or in-store.

Recently, I placed an order for many different styles of frames from Zenni (pictured in video), and the average price came out to $26 per pair.

After selecting the frames you want to buy on Zenni's website, you can make an account to which you'll upload a prescription and which remains saved on the account. The next step is to select the lenses, at which point you'll have many options. Depending on your prescription, desired type of lens, or lens finish, the prices can vary and significantly increase the cost of the glasses.

Zenni allows you to pair sunglass lenses with most, if not all, frames, and they offer a number of different types of sunglass lenses, including mirror finish and gradient finish.

Generally, you should give Zenni about 2 weeks to get your new glasses to your door. With this latest order, it took about 10 days for my frames to be delivered.

Considering the affordable price point of Zenni's glasses, it's normal to wonder about the quality of the frames and the lenses that they sell.

In my experience, I've found Zenni's glasses to be very sturdy. I've tested different types of frames as well as many different lens finishes and have yet to have a pair break or for the lenses to scratch easily. I must mention that I don't wear any single pair too often as I have a large collection. Yet, overall I think Zenni offers great value for the price paid.

Zenni frames are shipped in a plastic glasses case and include a polishing cloth and a pupillary distance ruler. While a bit bright in color, the Zenni case is quite functional for protecting the glasses when you're not wearing them.

It's probably evident by this point that I'm a fan of Zenni given how much value they provide, at least to me. My prescription is rather basic so this helps to keep the cost of my glasses down, though this may be different depending on your prescription. Overall, I highly recommend Zenni as they allow me to buy many different glasses and sunglasses styles to try out without breaking the bank.

Atlantis is the first fragrance from Blu Atlas, a men's skincare company that prides itself in creating products in the USA and employing natural ingredients, resulting in a cruelty-free, vegan, and sulfate-free fragrance for men.

The Atlantis cologne was designed to recall the scents and sights of the coastal jungles of Bali.

The head of Blu Atlas Atlantis has notes of citrus (bergamot & lemon) as well as blackcurrant. The heart of Atlantis offers notes of lavender, peach, and apricot, all of which are very tropical scents. With regards to longevity, Blu Atlas Atlantis continued to perform after as many as 9 hours from the first application, making for commendable performance.
At its base, Atlantis Cologne has notes of oakmoss, musk, and violet.

Finally, when it comes to evolution of the fragrance, Atlantis boasts definite changes from the head to the heart, making it quite dynamic.

Given the tropical and citrus aspects of Blu Atlas Atlantis, we'd definitely categorize this as an ideal summer fragrance. This being said, it could be used outside of summer, for instance late spring or early fall, depending on where you're located and the local temperature/setting.

Atlantis' sillage is mild to mild+, so it is not overpowering though it remains a unique smell. On projection, for Atlantis it is relatively low.

As mentioned earlier, the longevity of this fragrance is fantastic as just one application can last almost all day.

When we inquired with others on Blu Atlas Atlantis, we found the most regular comment to be that the fragrance was pleasant though hard to identify specifically. None of the 3rd parties were able to identify another fragrance that offered the same notes as Atlantis, making for a citrus cologne that is not only popular but also unique in its profile.

Blu Atlas Atlantis is sold in a minimalist box with a magnetic closure. Inside, the box is lined with fabric and has an insert that secures the bottle. When it comes to the cologne bottle itself, it's a matte black bottle with a raised "ba" logo and magnetic cap.

Having used the Skull Shaver Pitbull for more than five years, I've become quite accustomed to cleaning the unit, so I'm going to demonstrate how to take them apart to clean them in this video.

00:35 How To Clean The Five-Headed Blade
To clean the five-headed Blade, you can use the small notches on each of the four outside heads to remove them from the Blade unit. However, the center razor cannot be removed to clean more thoroughly.

Once you remove each of the heads, you can rinse them out in the sink or in the shower to let the water run through the razor and flush out any debris. The brand also offers a reservoir that you can use to clean the Blades.

Once you've finished cleaning the razor heads, you simply clip them back onto the unit.

01:45 How To Clean The Four-Headed Blade
Cleaning the new four-headed Blade is also easy and allows for a more thorough clean. To diassemle the four-headed blade, remove the front shroud which contains all of the razors. At this point, you can clean out the hair reservoir in the shower or in the sink.

For a deeper clean, you can remove the entire razor assembly and clean each of the individual razors and razor cages. This is one of the best aspects of this new Blade head, the fact that you can take it apart completely and perform a very deep clean.

I've personally used the Skull Shaver Pitbull for more than 5 years so I believe my experience makes me a good candidate to offer advice on which of the two Blade styles is best.

When I first purchased the Skull Shaver, the five-headed Blade was the only one available. At the time, I was quite satisfied with the shave that it produced and that it caused little to no irritation or sensitivity after use. Also, each of the individual heads articulate, and you're able to dismantle the razors to clean them on the inside.

When Skull Shaver introduced the new 4-headed blade, I was reluctant to switch. However, when I repurchased a battery module, I learned that they now ship the units with the new 4-headed Blade by default.

Given that I had the new Blade design, I gave it a try and was surprised by the performance. It provided a closer shave than the five-headed Blade and is much easier to disassemble and clean.

The new four-headed Blade has a reservoir that is significantly larger than that of the older model.

If I had to choose between the two models, I'd definitely go for the newer four-headed Skull Shaver Blade design. Even if you've been using the original five-headed Blade for a long time, I'd suggest at least trying out the new Blade model.

Not only will it provide a shave that is just as good, you'll also be able to extend the lifetime of the blade, given that I've experienced the new four-headed Blade to last significantly longer than the five-headed Blade.

Generally, the five-headed Blade lasted me about 2 to 3 months. On the other hand, I've found the four-headed Blade lasts at least 4 months

For the five-headed model, the prices are $17.99, $26.99, and $35.99, respectively.
On the other hand, the prices for the new four-headed model are $22.49, $31.49, and $40.49.

I generally use the most premium Blade, the Baron, however, you could opt for the more affordable Blades. I stick to the Baron as I have a head that is prone to sensitivity from shaving.

Most are familiar with Captain Morgan's spiced rum. The white rum, on the other hand, is a crisp, clean, and fresh rendition of the brand that is suitable for mixing any of your favorite rum cocktails.

The bottle of Captain Morgan's White Rum is simple, clean and minimalistic with Captain proudly featured on the front and a metal screw cap. The price range for this presentation is about 11 or12 euros, depending on where you are. And finally, it's 37.5% ABV so definitely in the very low spectrum of a spirit or a rumr.

02:40 Robe & Appearance
In the glass, this Bacardí White Rum is crisp and clean. There's not much to be said in terms of color and the viscosity is medium, with permanent legs running down the side of the glass, but in a rather fast fashion.

03:09 Nose
The first nose is fresh and green, with a lot of vanilla and coconut and a slight green unripe banana. It definitely has a bit of a funky ester-like smell to it that you would expect from a Jamaican rum, for example. The second note of the nose reveals some more of the caramel sweetness, slightly roasted coconut, and a hint of American white oak with a charred woodiness that is not overly prominent but just ever so slightly in the back to give it all a bit of maturity and depth.

Overall, it's clean, straightforward, and refreshing without being too complex or intricate.

Given that this is 37.5% rum, it remains light though I can still detect a little bit of an alcoholic burn. On the palate, you can feel there is a bit of sweetness and tanginess without sacrificing the fresh white rum experience.

Bacardi White Rum has a short finish, so if you're looking for an inexpensive white rum that will provide a clean sheet for a rum and coke, daiquiri, or Mojito, this is a great option.

The complexity is medium, the length rather short, and the flavor characteristics on the second layer are slightly zesty. There's a little bit of the coconut present as well that we had already in the nose, a bit of vanilla, and most definitely the green unripe banana.

In terms of pairings, because I spoke of green bananas quite a bit, I think a few dried banana chips make for a lovely combination as they can provide you a bit of saltiness to counter the sweetness of the rum of the cocktail you may employ it in.

When it comes to long drinks and cocktails, I'm not a huge rum and coke fan. I'd much rather have Captain White Rum with ginger beer as it gives more spice and character. You could also pour this with a grapefruit tonic or even a bitter lemon. Classic daiquiri works just a treat with this one as well, but keep in mind it will give you a lighter and less full-bodied experience compared to the other white rums that are out there in the market.

If you're a fan of a Mojito, I would opt for an older rum, but Captain Morgan White Rum could nevertheless work in a pinch.

On cigars, this white rum would be quite a good combination with a light cigar. Personally, I paired it with Davidoff Dominicana, which features tobaccos from 2014 crop. It brings a lot of complexities and the rum is just a blank sheet underneath that will work as a sort of a flavor enhancer without contributing all too much by itself.

07:46 Overall Experience
Bacardi White Rum is definitely worth a try. It is a super affordable bottle so it's awesome bang for your buck. You could have this for a summer party by the pool side with friends when you simply want to drink some rather uncomplicated long drinks and enjoy yourselves.

The Skull Shaver Pitbull Gold used for this review includes the detachable 4-headed Blade razor, the battery/motor, wall outlet charger, and the charging cable.

The Skull Shaver Pitbull Gold costs around $139 retail, but can usually be purchased for $100 directly from Skull Shaver. The price on Amazon also tends to be a bit higher. The Butterfly Kiss model is also available for purchase, and while I find it more ergonomic and easier to travel with, the brand generally markets this towards female customers.

01:55 Skull Shaver Pitbull Advantages
The greatest advantage of the Skull Shaver is that it provides a great shave that is very close and clean. Also, it is pretty easy to clean, which I generally do after use every day in the shower.

The battery modules are pretty comfortable to hold, and I've had no issue with my hand getting tired after extended use.

The blades are very safe. While I have some bumps and moles on my head, I've not had a single instance where I get a cut or anything of the sort from using the Skull Shaver. Likewise, I haven't had many issues with sensitivity. Generally, I purchase the Baron blades, which are the most expensive type, so you may be able to purchase a more affordable Skull Shaver Blade.

03:20 Cost Breakdown
I generally get about 2 or 3 years of use out of every battery which can usually be picked up for about $100. The razor heads last me about 3-4 months which everyday use. Considering this, I've calculated the cost to be about $0.30-$0.40 per day.

03:53 Cons Of The Skull Shaver
The first disadvantage I've found with the Skull Shaver is that you can't allow your hair to get too long; otherwise, it becomes unmanageable for the razors. In such a scenario, you'd have to use trimmers or clippers first and then the Skull Shaver to obtain the close shave you want.

The second disadvantage I've found is the Skull Shaver has some areas on my head that it's not able to give the closest shave. In my case, these are the temples and the back of the neck. This isn't a huge issue for me as I'll touch these up with a shavette when I'm doing my beard line, but it's definitely worth mentioning.

The final pain point is that the unit uses a specific charging cable. This means that if you forget to bring this individual cable while traveling, you will likely not be able to charge the unit when it runs out of battery. I would have hoped that with design updates, the brand would have considered this, but perhaps it's an upgrade that will come in the future.

05:35 How Long Does The Skull Shaver Battery Last?
With a brand new battery unit, I've found a full charge to last me at least two weeks of daily shaving. However, as the battery ages and goes through more recharging cycles, it tends to get weaker and the charges last less. OVerall, I wouldn't expect a full charge to last longer than a month or 30 separate shaves.

On a recent trip back home, I had to chance to meet Damien Moura-Delort of Bespoke Leather and explore his leather workshop in South London. From there, he crafts all of his bespoke leather products.

Naturally, of particular interest to me were his custom leather cigar lighters. However, he does have a very interesting pedigree working with leather under fashion houses in London and France.

01:13 Custom Pocket Lighters For Cigars
Bespoke Leather's pocket lighters range in price from £99-£165, depending on the leather used for the lighter's sheath.

Common across all of the pocket lighters is the fact that they have an integrated cigar punch cutter in the bottom. They also have a valve for refilling the lighter with butane and a small screw for adjusting the flame height.

02:32 Box Presentation
All of Bespoke Leather's Lighters are shipped in a nice presentation box that is felt-lined and wrapped in ribbons. Included inside the box is also some additional flints as well as a small bag to protect the pocket lighters while they're not in use.

03:08 Custom Desktop Lighters For Cigars
The second option of cigar lighters offered by Bespoke Leather is desktop cigar lighters. These range in price from £150-£285 and are also available in a number of different leathers.

The size of the desktop lighter is significantly larger than the pocket version and feels quite good in the hand. These are also flint lighters that can be refueled via a valve on the bottom, however, they do not include the integrated cigar punch cutter.

03:55 Pros & Cons
The biggest aspect that I liked about Bespoke Leather's lighters is that being flint lighters, they have a decidedly old-school-cool look and feel that I find very appealing.

Additionally, by wrapping the lighters in different leathers, Damien essentially makes each of these unique from the rest, given that leather patterns are unlikely to match other hides or even other parts of the same hide.

Aside from having the choice of leather, Damien also offers the possibility of custom cigar lighters with custom insignia or logos. For instance, some friends and I previously purchased about 15 pocket lighters from Damien with the logo of a whiskey club that we are a part of in Philadelphia.

Lastly, another pro of these lighters is that you get to support a passionate artisan such as Damien. I had the chance to get to meet him and found him to be a fantastic guy who exudes passion for leatherworking and for everything he makes in his independent studio.

As far as cons, I didn't have too many with regards to these lighters. I do think it's important to understand the specific use cases of these lighters. They're not intended for every day "beater" use, unlike what an ST Dupont Defi ( our review here: youtu.be/5L5G5yPfS2A) can handle.

Also, upon refilling, the flame can become a bit unwieldy, so you'll need a multitool such as the Xikar Multitool to adjust it.

The Seiko 5 Sports presented here is a reference SBSA003 which indicates that this is a Made in Japan model. This model may also be found under the SRPD53 reference when it does not possess the Made in Japan denomination.

The Pepsi SKX used is an SKX009K, which is not a Made in Japan version. The Made in Japan version of this watch has the reference SKX009J.

02:45 SKX & 5KX Case Comparison
The Seiko 5 Sports line of watches was intended to replace the Seiko SKX. The modern model is quite similar to its predecessor, but there are some differences.

The cases are largely the same with matching dimensions and surface finishings.

SKX watches could be purchased on a rubber strap or with a Jubilee bracelet. While the Jubilee bracelet is no longer offered for the Seiko 5 Sports, the bracelet and strap options for this model line have grown substantially.

The bezel design is largely the same, as are the bezel inserts, though the blue on the SRPD53 is a bit brighter.

The new Seiko 5 Sports watches no longer have a screw-down crown, which likely impacted the water resistance rating (now only 100M). The SKX watches have a screw-down crown and boast a 200m water resistance.

Seiko 5 Sports watches possess a sapphire caseback that offers a view into a nicely-finished movement. Alternatively, the SKX had a solid caseback. This difference is also likely to play a part into the difference in water depth rating.

08:47 Blue Dial Comparison
The dial of the Pepsi SRPD53 is a lot flashier than the SKX009 seeing as how it has a sunray finish. It also boasts applied hour indices that have a polished finish.

The SKX009 Pepsi, on the other hand, has a muted blue dial and painted hour indices. Both models have polished center hands and a lot of Seiko LumiBrite lume throughout.

12:03 Different Movements
The Seiko SKX watches were powered by the self-winding 7S26 caliber. The modern Seiko 5 Sports have a self-winding/automatic 4R36 movement. Both movements have a power reserve of about 40 hours and similar accuracy, though the newer 4R36 movement has hacking seconds and handwinding functions which the 7S26 does not.

00:42 Jameson Irish Whiskey Overview
Jameson was founded in 1780 by John Jameson, a Scot. Soon after, he moved to Dublin and launched his company, Jameson, and it proved very successful. Later, in 1966, it fused with Cork Distillers to create the Irish Distillers Group, at which point the Dublin distillery closed and Jameson Whiskey started being produced at the new Middleton distillery in Cork.Today, the company is part of Pernod Ricard.

What sets Jameson whiskey apart is that it is triple distilled (like vodka), whereas most scotch whiskeys are double distilled. Jameson uses this approach in order to remove impurities from the alcohol for a cleaner experience.

Furthermore, Jameson Irish Whiskey is technically a blend as it uses a mixture of pot still whiskey as well as typical grain whiskey. After distillation, the whiskey is aged in ex-bourbon casks and often finished in Sherry casks.

02:14 Jameson Irish Whiskey's Robe, Appearance, and Nose
In the glass, Jameson Whiskey is an overall pale gold or maybe even brass colored liquid. It has thin and fast legs which points to this being a rather youthful spirit. In terms of clarity, there is some haziness when cast against the light.

Overall, the nose is quite delicate with some some complexity. It has a prickliness or peppery nose feel, as well as a nice dose of pear fruit, cereal, whiskey grain, and honeysuckle. The honeysuckle has a floral characteristic, but it's also producing a slight honey note. Finally, there are notes of Mirabelle, which is a type of plum.

03:32 Palate
On the palate, there is a very sweet primary flavor with a creamy mouthfeel. There are also notes of almond, a hint of leather, and the floral characteristic from the nose. Moving into the heart, it starts to give you some vanilla softness as well as some ripe banana and then caramel. The texture it's quite velvety though light on the palate

And as for the finish, it's very moreish but it has a very short linger at the same time, so it doesn't really dominate your palate for too long. That being said, it does have some flavor: pear drops, marmalade, and then a hint of fudge and toffee.

05:15 Overall Experience
First of all, the bottle has a very classic design. Furthermore, I picked this special packaging which includes two cocktail glasses. So this is one way to drink it, but I'm choosing to drink it neat. And in fact, it's very easy to drink neat, you don't even need to add any water.

Regarding value for money, the bottle is about 19 Euros. Typically in the USA, you'll pick it up for about $33. And given the quite pricey nature of whiskey in the USA, this offers excellent value in that sense.

06:29 Occasion
In terms of occasion, this more of a casual, easygoing drink. In my opinion, it would also be good at social gatherings as it'll give people who aren't really sure about whiskey the opportunity to sample without having something that is overwhelming. Lastly, I'd argue that it's absolutely fine to use at formal gatherings. Obviously, you probably want a variety of options in case it might be seen as something that is a little bit too cheap, but overall it is an excellent little Irish whiskey.

07:32 Pairings For Jameson Irish Whiskey
In terms of food pairings, consider a dessert such as a fruit tart, You could also have it with some toffee, otherwise consider amaretti or amaretto.

On cigars, consider an Oliva Connecticut or any other Connecticut shade wrapper as these creamy, mild cigars would really compliment the creaminess in this whiskey.

The original Turtle was a dive watch introduced by Seiko in the 70s. It was in production for many years and garnered a significant following. For this reason, Seiko ultimately reintroduced this almost identical yet nevertheless updated version, the SRP777.

The SRP777 boasts the same exact case material and dimensions as the first Seiko Turtle from the 1970s. Its case dimensions are as follows:

- 44.3mm in diameter
- 47mm lug-to-lug
- 13mm thick (tall)
- 22mm lug size (strap size)

The case on this Turtle SRP777 is basically exactly the same as the original. It is all stainless steel with a brushed top surface and polished case sides/underside.

This being a dive watch, the steel bezel rotates unidirectionally (120 clicks) and has a metal insert with minute graduations. The crystal is Seiko Hardlex, a proprietary Seiko material that while not as scratch-resistant as sapphire, can still keep up with this sports watch.

Prior to the review, these La Aurora Nicaragua 107 cigars were seasoned for a couple of months in a humidor with Boveda 69% RH packs.

01:00 Look, Feel, And Pre-Light Considerations
The Nicaraguan Habano wrapper on the La Aurora 107 Nicaragua has a dark brown hue with a slight sheen and some veining. The body of the cigar exudes notes of leather, hay, and barnyard. On the dry draw, I get a perfect amount of resistance, a fact that I’ve found to be consistent across the ten cigars I sampled previous to this review.

02:03 Lighting & First Third
The 107 Nicaragua opens up on the heavy side, so I’d categorize it as a medium plus, if not full, smoke. That being said, right from the beginning, the cigar provided a very wholesome mouthfeel.

Right away, the flavors that I’m picking up in the first third are of leather, woody nuttiness and slight white pepper spice. The retrohale invites floral notes, which are an agreeable complement to the experience at this point.

03:14 Tobaccos In The La Aurora 107 Nicaragua
The La Aurora 107 Nicaragua is a Nicaraguan puro with a Nicaraguan Habano wrapper and undisclosed Nicaraguan filler & binder.

03:37 Combustion
The construction and combustion of the La Aurora 107 Nicaragua are commendable. The draw is ideal, the temperature has remained cool, and the ash backbone has been outstanding.

04:30 Presentation
The band on this La Aurora cigar is a double band and, while not incredibly ornate, is good enough. The cigar box, on the other hand, is quite nice; it has light screen printing on the top and flanks, along with a label on the back that describes the Tobaccos of the World inspiration.

All in all, I’d summarize that the presentation here is fair. While not over the top, it is definitely in line with the price of the cigar when you consider that, although a premium stick, it nevertheless remains quite affordable at $9/cigar.

05:40 Occasion & Pairings
I’d recommend enjoying this in the late afternoon or evening, especially since its price can lend it to a more casual or everyday smoke. I consider it ideal for more relaxed events, for instance, a BBQ. However, it can still hold its own at a special event such as a birthday or wedding.

When pairing with food, the barbeque mentioned earlier was intentional as I quite like the 107 Nicaragua with meat or more hearty meals. Additionally, french fries or even salted peanuts could enhance the experience, as could sweeter alcoholic spirits such as rum.

07:19 Second & Final Thirds
In the second third, I’m still tasting the leather, wood, and nutty tones encountered earlier on. The oiliness is still very much present, and I quite enjoy it.

Into the final third, I do begin to note a slight taste of licorice which I hadn’t detected previously. The oily leather feel and wood aspects are still present and still satisfying, as are the floral notes in the retrohale.

08:19 Evolution & Mouthfeel
Broadly speaking, the mouthfeel of the La Aurora 107 Nicaragua is what most surprised me; it completely covered and stimulated the palate throughout. With regards to evolution, I found the cigar to be quite linear.

All in all, I found the La Aurora 107 Nicaragua to be a fantastic cigar, especially considering its price. If you’ve yet to try any of La Aurora’s cigars, or even if you’ve indulged in this brand in the past, I can highly recommend the 107 Nicaragua. The leather notes with floral undertones, along with the wholesome mouthfeel that I mentioned throughout, make this a must-try for beginner and experienced smokers alike.

Menjurje de Ancho Reyes is an interesting Mexican chili liqueur that has been all the rage amongst the bartending and mixologist community in recent times.

00:45 Ancho Reyes Overview
Ancho Reyes hails from Mexico, the Puebla region, where in the 1920s it was common for local cantinas to offer a homemade Menjurje or a sort of local home brew. This particular kind is a fiery spicy chili liqueur made with local ancho chilies, which originally are poblano chilies, but after being dried for about 20-25 days, they become the so-called ancho chilies.

01:52 Presentation
In general, I love the Ancho Reyes bottle as it's a glorious mixture of a rustic and artistic design. The label is quite ornate, and the bottle has a brownish tint with a distinct texture and pattern all over it.

The bottle itself has quite a bit of info on it. For instance, it references the recipe from the 1920s and depicts the ancho chilies used to brew it. More specifically, poblano chiles are handpicked and then dried to become what's called the ancho chili before being macerated in canes spirit for half a year. Lastly, that mixture is blended with other herbs and spices in order to produce the Ancho Reyes original.

There's a green or Verde variation of this that uses green poblano chilies, but this is truly the most classic and traditional expression of the overall theme.

04:04 Ancho Reyes Review - Robe & Nose
The color of the liqueur is golden brown with slight mahogany. The viscosity is thick, oily, and quite rich.

When it comes to the nose, there is a blast of smoky, slightly charred green peppers. Just behind that, what really strikes me is a medicinal note that has an aromatic connotation to it, similar to a traditional herbal liqueur. Behind that is a little bit of vanilla cream that rounds off with a pleasurable sweetness.

The spice is definitely intermingled with caramel and the slight musky and fustiness towards the very end to round it all off and give a lot of complexity and character to the bouquet and the nasal expression.

06:04 Palate
Right up front, there is spice and chili heat that burns all over your tongue and palate, though not in an unpleasant way. It's quite well balanced together with the sweetness, mellowness, and oily mouthfeel. But from beginning to end, there is this consistent pungent chili spice sensation and a very spicy, prickly upfront note from the ancho.

Overall, there is an evolution to the spiciness: at the beginning, it hits you right up front. Then it sort of peaks and tames down towards the very end where the spice fades into a more mellow sensation, allowing the sweetness and vanilla notes to shine through.

07:47 How To Serve Ancho Reyes
Despite its character and uniqueness. Ancho Reyes is a versatile spirit. You could have this neat or as a chaser with a bottle of ice-cold Mexican beer. You can also pour some ginger ale, or even a bit of lemon on top for a refreshing long drink.

Most definitely, it's a very promising ingredient for a simple two-part cocktail. Combine this with an Añejo tequila, or spice up your margaritas, Palomas, and any other cocktail with a Mexican connotation.

08:26 Cigar & Food Pairings
I had to go for a Mexican cigar here as well from the Turrent family, in this case, the 1880 Maduro that I picked because of the dark, rich leathery, aromas and flavors.

In terms of food, I tried some simple pieces of either dry bread, bread sticks, or one of my particular favorites is Italian bread that gives you a clean sheet to let the ancho chili really shine

09:22 Overall Experience & Value
In terms of affordability and value for money, this bottle is somewhere north of 30 euros so it isn't particularly cheap, however in my opinion the value for money is certainly there.

All in all I think this is a highly interesting next evolution of the liqueur category in general as I consider Ancho Reyes a lovely new rendition of a modern new world liqueur. It gives a lot of opportunities and a lot of different styles and plenty of material to work with to all the bartenders and the mixologists out there. But also, as I said, a very versatile and easy to handle for all you cocktail geeks out there when you would just love to whip something up, easy, simple at your home.

The Stage V Clinger is a very simple tool. Essentially it is a metal clip that you place your cigar into and then stick it onto any metal as the back of the clip has two magnets. The pack also includes a bit of velcro that can be used to further secure this magnetic cigar clip to a surface.

One of the cool things about the Stage V golf cigar holder is that you can bend the "arms" of the clip to accommodate most cigar ring gauges or vitolas.

The Stage V Clinger could not be any easier to use. All you have to do is put it on any metallic surface and it'll stay there.

The most obvious use is to stick the Stage V onto a golf cart. However, I've also found that this magnetic cigar clip will stick on clubs in case you're carrying around your golf bag.

The Stage V Clinger has become one of my favorite cigar accessories because of its affordable price and versatility. I've purchased a couple of them already and keep them in different places.

In 2018, I reviewed a watch from Zenith's DEFY El Primero 21 collection. However, in that instance, the watch used for the review possessed a black ceramic case. Since creating that review, the DEFY El Primero 21 had stuck in my mind yet I had never really been convinced to take the plunge.

When I saw Zenith released this DEFY Ultraviolet version, which just so happens to have accents in one of my favorite colors, I knew the time had come.

01:04 Zenith DEFY Ultraviolet Review
The Zenith DEFY El Primero 21 Ultraviolet ref. 97.9001.9004/80.R922 features a 44mm microblasted titanium case that is 14.5mm thick (or "tall"). The movement is marked by the fact that it possesses two escapements, one for timekeeping and the other for the 1/100th chronograph complication.

The timekeeping escapement runs at 5Hz while the Chronograph escapement runs at 50Hz. The watch has a water resistance of 10ATM (100m), and the dial features an open-worked architecture with ultraviolet-accented movement plates.

The strap accompanying the DEFY Ultraviolet also has a purple top surface which a black rubber backing and a matching, microblasted titanium folding clasp.

01:58 Box Set & Accessories
The top of the polished wood box is marked by an attractive Zenith medallion, while the inside possesses the traditional watch cushion and a lower compartment containing a cleaning cloth, space to store the original watch tags, and a USB thumb drive containing the Owner's Manual.

It's also worth noting that the watch cushion part of the case can be turned into a smaller & light travel pouch for the watch, which is a satisfactory detail.

02:47 Owner's Perspective
While I've only owned this Zenith DEFY Chrono for a couple of months, I've really enjoyed putting it on, and it has become an almost daily wearer. This is not just because I like the look of the watch but also because I'm currently in Florida, and the weather lends itself to more casual clothing and wristpieces. I wouldn't really wear this with a suit due to its color and sporty size.

Overall, this watch gets a ton of compliments, and I've had a ton of fun wearing it around, so I'm sure it'll continue getting wrist time from me.

As per usual, this single malt whisky review was conducted using the Bespoke Unit whisky matrix, a quantifiable review formula that you can either use at home for your own reviews. 00:46 Glengoyne 21 Single Malt Whisky Overview
Glengoyne is a whisky distillery that sits in the Highlands of Scotland, yet, the warehouses where the casks are stored and matured are just across the street, which is actually in the lowlands.

In terms of the overall presentation, it's a very elegant, long, slim bottle proudly stating the emblem of the Glengoyne Distillery, which you can also see embossed on the backside of the bottle. The bottle also reads, "I guarantee that this single malt whiskey has been maturing in oak cask for a duration of at least 21 years." The ABV is 43% alcohol by volume and Glengoyne says that like all Glengoyne malts, the 21-year-old is distilled solely from air-dried barley.

03:20 Glengoyne 21 Robe, Appearance, and Nose
In the glass, Glengoyne 21 Single malt has a dark, rich, copper-gold color. The liquid is thick and oily with heavy legs running down the side of the glass.

The nose is likewise full and rich with strong notes of nuttiness, fresh mint, ripe banana, caramelized walnuts, and even a little bit of soy sauce. The nose feels salty in the back, producing a tingling, prickly sensation that reminds slightly of white pepper.

05:40 Palate
Right away after tasting, you can tell that Glengoyne 21 Whisky is superbly elegant. The palette soothes you a touch of white pepper, caramel sweetness, traditional baking spices like cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg are there. And towards the back of the palette, the orange rind.

There is a very mature, overripe tropical fruit note reminiscent of a charred pineapple, or overripe banana sensed in the nose at the beginning.

Obviously, this is not your standard go-to cocktail pour. This is more an elegant whiskey single-malt that you would have in a Glencairn glass, probably with a large block of ice or nothing at all if that's how you prefer it. Being 43% volume of alcohol, this really doesn't need an awful lot of dilution or opening up with a splash of water added. It's perfect as it is.

08:06 Food & Cigar Pairings
I would love to have some walnuts as a snack with Glengoyne 21. Dates or dried figs would also make for a lovely finger food pairing.

When it comes to cigars, definitely reach for something elegant to match your drink. Consider something that is just as complex, refined, nuanced, and subtle but with a lot of character. For instance, a Don Carlos from Arturo Fuente, something like the Eye of the Shark, a real all-time classic.

06:50 Occasion & Value
Glengoyne 21 Single Malt Scotch Whisky is most certainly an occasional dram. For many years, Glengoyne was sort of an under-the-radar tip for insiders, but it's certainly turned into a much respected and much loved single malt whiskey. As a result, the price has also increased over time.

The bottle will set you back roughly 160 bucks and while it's not inexpensive, it does offer great bang for your buck overall. Most definitely, Glengoyne 21 is a single malt whiskey you should try.

00:24 Cigar Overview
Prior to review, these La Aurora Preferidos Platinum were seasoned for two months in a humidor with Boveda 69% RH packs.

The La Aurora Platinum Cameroon is presented in a doble figurado vitola which is 5x54. This cigar can be considered ultra-premium with the box (containing 8 individual tubos) retailed for around $210 which entails a price of $26.50 for each cigar.

01:18 Look, Feel, And Pre-Light Considerations
This La Aurora 1903 Platinum has a very even roll with slight veining and little to no soft spots. The Cameroon wrapper has a slight sheen but it doesn't appear overly oily.

The pre-light draw is subtle with straw, leather, and barnyard notes.

02:17 Lighting & First Third
In the first third, I found it to open with a slightly sharp or bitter taste though this went away after the oils in the tobacco warmed up. I largely attributed this to the double figurado vitola.

The notes I perceived in the first third were woody oak, earth, and sweet nuttiness. The retrohale contained notes of sweet earthy flavors and slight citrus.

02:58 Combustion
The pre-light draw was perfect with just slight resistance. The combustion into the first third has an ideal draw with a very even burn line. Considering the vitola, this is quite impressive.

The ash is very strong and the temperature is mostly cool, though I've found the cigar to get hot at times which could be due to me over-smoking it.

Overall, construction is phenomenal considering the doble figurado vitola.

03:55 Presentation Of La Aurora 1903 Platinum
I thought the band was quite nice if a bit simple. It possesses the La Aurora logo as well as an indication of the Cameroon wrapper. Considering the price point, the band could be a bit more ornate but I think the tubo presentation makes up for this regard.

The box is quite attractive with a Cuban feel resulting from the labels that span it entirely. Most notably, a felted tray cradles the 8 individual tubos which are simply striking to look at. Additionally, each box contains a small card with hand-written notes regarding the specific tobacco used for the cigars.

05:40 Second Third
Into the second third, the 1903 Platinum's flavor profile has evolved into a much more complex cigar. The notes I detect are cinnamon, graham cracker, and spice. The retrohale largely reveals notes of earth and citrus.

07:15 Occasion
In the final third, the uneven burn from earlier has corrected itself.

This being a medium to medium-plus cigar, I'd say this is best enjoyed in the afternoon or evening. Additionally, this would be a great cigar for a formal occasion or celebration such as a black-tie event like a wedding.

08:07: Food & Drink Pairings
Given that the flavor evolution in this cigar is so nuanced, I'd largely suggest enjoying the cigar by itself to appreciate the complexities. However, if you must go for a food pairing, I'd suggest some very light nibbles or soft cheese.

On drink pairings, consider a glass of dry champagne, low ABV rum, or scotch that is not too peaty.

09:37 Final Third & Overall Thoughts
The overall experience is likely 40-45 minutes. Towards the end of the cigar, I experienced woody, cedar, and coffee notes with earthy tones in the retrohale. The finish is slightly oily due to the Cameroon wrapper with an evolution that is top-notch, not only due to the premium tobacco blend but also the shape which directly alters the experience as you're enjoying the cigar.

The MinusA2 Air Purifier used for this review was sent in by Ben at YourEelegantBar and it can be purchased for $619 though the standard models without painting depictions on them start around $550.

The specific MinusA2 unit I’m using is the model number SPA-780A. There are other versions, such as the SPA-700A, which are similar in look but different in spec. There’s also the SPA-780N which is wifi-enabled so you can control it via an app.

01:10 Rabbit Air MinusA2 Filter Options
The Rabbit Air MinusA2 uses a 6-stage air filtration system that includes a HEPA filter and an activated charcoal component that deals with residual odors. For any of these units, you have a couple of different options as to what air particles you want to target. While I ordered mine with the Odor Remover Filter which is intended for cigar smoke, there are other options labeled for Germ Defense, Pet Allergens, and Toxin Absorption.

01:37 Operating the Rabbit Air MinusA2
Turning on the MinusA2 is rather simple, you just use the remote to power it up and the small light on the front will indicate the unit is on. The unit has 5 different settings corresponding to the amount of air that is being filtered at any point in time.

If there is already smoke in the air when you turn it on, the fans will boot up and the blue light will turn red as this is the unit’s way of indicating that there are undesired particles in the air.

Pitu is an absolute classic when it comes to the category of cachaca, with its most notable differentiator being that it is made entirely with sugar cane juice and not molasses. Cachaca being the national spirit of Brazil, most often the cane spirits employed in making it hail from an area called Minas Gerais. Pitu is a sweet water crab native to Brazil, hence it became the symbol and the emblem of this particular type of spirit.

The bottle has a metal screw cap top, the label and the overall design are slick and neat but keep in mind that Pitu is an everyday pour. It's quite a simple, affordable spirit that you would primarily use for the caipirinha. The label even includes a recipe for caipirinha though there are many opinions as to how a proper caipirinha should be prepared so this particular recipe is not the only "true" one.

03:59 Appearance & Nose
In the glass, Pitu Cachaca is crystal clear with medium viscosity and fast legs running down.

The nose is marked by a blast of freshly cut green grass, hay, fresh cane sugar, and a funky, almost herbaceous note which transcends into an almost rich leathery smell that brings complexity. So the overall nose is sweet, a little floral but very fresh, which already steers this Brazilian rum towards the caipirinha cocktail.

06:34 Pitu Cachaca's Nose
The nose is unctuous and sweet. Its bouquet is rich without being intense. It's dominated by aniseed but there are hints of fennel and ginger, too. It's not complex, either. Adding water is quick and leaves a milky yellow liquid.

06:34 Palate
Right away, the palate of Pitu is light with little bit of citrus. The sugar comes through with the green, unripe bananas experienced in the nose. Then, towards the very back, there is a distinct herbaciousness similar to tarragon and thyme.

It's a little difficult to pinpoint the actual taste and the rum profile here. Markedly, there is sweetness up front, a little alcoholic burn in the middle, and then the more complex green leathery notes towards the very back with a short finish.

The balance is there. The complexity is medium at best but it's a fun spirit to drink nevertheless. It's rather uncomplicated and gives a clean, fresh finish that is perfectly suitable for cocktails and long drinks.

08:48 Pitú Cachaça Cocktail Suggestions
The caipirinha needs to be on the top spot of cocktail recommendations when it comes to cachaca. Additionally, I also love to pair this with fruit juice and have a zesty, fresh long drink with either freshly pressed watermelon juice or similar fruits.

A 'ti punch that would normally contain rhum agricole can be varied with Pitu Cachaca given the characterful nose. A third suggestion is a white negroni with Pitu cachaca as a base.

10:00 Food & Cigar Pairings
Because of the zesty freshness of Pitu Cachaca, fruits are also a wonderful pair. In this particular case, I went for raspberries and found that they go very well with the grassy lemongrass freshness that I detected in the olfactory and gustatory perception.

In terms of cigars, what grows together goes together, so I chose Davidoff's Escurio, which features rich Brazilian tobaccos.

11:25 Final Thoughts
Pitu's packaging is simple and minimalistic and the price is quite affordable. You can use this every single day for all your cocktails and long drinks. And while not the most prestigious bottle in your bar, it is certainly a versatile one.

The Botanist Gin from Bruichladdich Distillery on the isle of Islay, a juniper-forward expression with an overall herbaceous profile, is made using 22 different botanicals that are local to the region.

01:08 Robe & Appearance
When it comes to color, there is not much to say for a gin other than it's slightly hazy. The viscosity is thick and oily, even though the legs run down in a rather quick fashion. This gin is 46% VBA, so it's a bit stronger than the traditional 40%. This will give a bit more character, taking your classic gin and tonic or dry martini cocktail to another level.

03:25 The Botanist Gin's Nose
First of all, the nose has a strong juniper blast which is characteristic of a London dry style gin. There's not too much of a citric note as The Botanist is more herbaceous with a briny, maritime character.

I also detect some sweet herbs similar to a slightly bruised mint that has become dark and resinous. There are also notes of thyme, rosemary, and camomile.

04:53 Palate & Finish
The Botanist Dry Gin has a mellow beginning with a slight salty mineral character. This speaks a little to the overall provenance, and to the characteristic of where the distillery sits.

This is not your typical London dry style gin, indeed, it has sort of a Northern association with it. It's a bit rough around the edges due to its prominent mineral characteristic.

There's a slight evolution on the pallet from sort of a creamy, sweet beginning, that then transcends into a more lively herbaceous. And towards the very end, there's pepper spice, a little bit of Chilean paprika, and the juniper then all comes back towards the end. Overall, I could describe The Botanist as rather complex and nuanced dry gin whose notes remain well-integrated into each other. Likewise, the alcohol is perfectly woven in, even given its higher ABV.

07:01 The Botanist Gin Cocktails & Food Pairings
It's not very common that people would drink a gin like The Botanist straight, or even pure on ice, though I have to say I very much like to always try gins neat. I could perfectly imagine pouring this over ice with nothing else or perhaps with a small thyme or rosemary sprig in there.

For all the G&T lovers out there, this will make for a delicious gin and tonic. Depending on your preferences of sweetness or dryness, you would probably want to reach for Schweppes dry, a traditional Thomas Henry tonic water, Fever-Tree, or even the Fever-Tree Mediterranean.

Other than that, I'm huge fan of a Botanist dry martini cocktail, stirred in a ratio of six to one with a traditional dry vermouth like Noilly Prat and a green pitted olive as a garnish. Other cocktail recommendations could be a White Lady, a Ramos Gin Fizz, or a Hanky Panky.

Ideal food pairings for The Botanist include green olives on the side, just as a little nibble or snack, or even some dry, crispy breadsticks.

09:04 Cigar Pairings for The Botanis
n terms of cigar pairings, a classical Davidoff White Label, such as Signature 2000, would be perfect match. Generally, you wouldn't want a cigar that is too complex, too dark, or too roasted. Instead, opt for a stick with a Connecticut shade, Ecuadorian wrapper and, lighter, soft mellow body.

09:39 Value for Money
The Botanist Islay Dry Gin is a great everyday rotational gin. You could keep it in your back bar and use it daily for your gin & tonics or dry martinis, whether you are alone, with loved ones, or with guests. The bottle has a perfect design; it looks nice, and tidy, and clean, minimal, but with a nice touch with the embossed botanicals here on the label.

After months of testing, the Xikar XO cutter has become one of my favorite cigar cutters to use on a daily basis.

The double-guillotine-style blades have no issue with cigars as large as a 60-ring gauge.

Even after heavy use, the blades produce clean, straight cuts without any issues to the blades themselves or the planetary gear mechanism.

After using the Xikar XO to cut my cigar, I've also found that it does a proper job as a cigar rest, whether on a table or on the golf course.

00:50 Downsides of the Xikar XO
It's clear to see by the wear on one of my Xikar XO cutters that I've "put a lot of miles" through it. While such degradation of the surface finish has not affected the performance of my Xikar XO, some may be disappointed to find that it is possible for the coating to wear off after time and heavy use.

I don't particularly mind, but as a result of this, I've purchased additional Xikar cutters so as to have some in good condition and the more worn ones for everyday use.

Additionally, the size of this Xikar XO may be found by some to be slightly large or heavy, though I've personally not found it to be either of these. Nevertheless, its something to keep in mind for those who prefer to travel light.

All of the models presented, except the SKX013, possess a 42.5mm case. The lug to lug measurement is 46mm. The height of the case is 14mm and the strap size is 22mm.

Comparatively, the 38mm SKX has a 38mm case diameter, 44mm lug-to-lug measurement, 13mm thick, and 20mm between the lugs (strap size).

03:33 42.5mm vs 38mm Cases Up-Close
Many aspects of both of the SKX dive watches are the same. Both have a day-date complication with a screw-down crown, diver's bezel, and 200m water resistance.

Both of these watches are also powered by the self-winding Seiko 7S26 movement. This movement has a 41-hour power reserve.

04:36 Strap/Bracelet
The SKX013 is most commonly encountered on the Seiko SKX Jubilee. On the other hand, the 42.5mm can be purchased on the rubber strap or Jubilee bracelet, though the bracelets are different from each other.

While slight, the SKX013 (38mm) does appear to have a different case design. Broadly speaking, the lugs appear sharper than on the 42.5mm SKX. The distal end of the lugs also have a different design, with the SKX013 having what appear to be sharper lugs.

The Buffalo Trace distillery is one of the oldest still in production with the name Buffalo Trace recalling the pioneering spirit of the people who moved westwards along the shores of the Kentucky River, where the Buffalo traces and trails could be followed.

The overall design of the Buffalo Trace whiskey bottle is beautiful. It's an everyday whiskey that could be in your daily rotation for cocktails, long drinks, high bowls, and the likes.

The color of Buffalo Trace Bourbon is gold and amber with just a bit of viscosity. The legs are running down the side of the glass in a rather fast way. The liquid is 40% alcohol by volume or 80 proof for those in the United States.

03:00 Buffalo Trace Bourbon's Nose
The aroma is a gorgeous, mellow, fruity, apple, orange peel, lemon zest combination. There's quite a bit of minty freshness to it along with the traditional bourbon sweetness of corn, roasted grains, charred wood, caramel sweetness, coconut flakes, and a lovely vanilla cream.

It's not an overly sweet or sticky nose but rather a lively, zesty freshness that makes you come back for More

03:47 Tasting/Palate
The palate of Buffalo Trace Kentucky Bourbon has orange notes and kumquat. I also detect some marzipan, a bit of white chocolate, and nougat.

The second layer reveals the traditional and typical vanilla, coconut, roasted, toasted white oak, a little bit of a dry woodiness which is reminiscent of heavily charred wood staves, and almost an ash like nuance.

It's all very well integrated. It's not superbly complex or long for that sake, but a very pleasant, charming, beautifully balanced spirit.

04:44 Buffalo Trace Cocktails
I typically like to pour Buffalo Trace Bourbon with some ginger ale over ice with an orange zest. You can also make a delicious mint julep thanks to the mint note that was previously highlighted on the nose. The palate also matches fresh mint sprigs, so you could definitely use this for a typical Kentucky Derby signature drink, the mint julep.

Other than that, if you do an Old Fashioned variation, for example, use the Fair Kumquat. We did a separate review (youtu.be/YaBE2cb8pas) on that for some of that orangey, bitter and fresh kumquat sensation and further enhance liveliness, the fruitiness and the freshness that the Buffalo Trace Bourbon would bring.

Overall, Buffalo Trace distillery offers wide variety of different brands, blends and products like the Antique Collection and some of the Van Winkles that you're definitely familiar with. But the Buffalo Trace Bourbon is truly their entry level and standard offering. It's the most traditional rendition of the distillery. And thus, I truly think this is a classic American bourbon that you should try and also stock in your liquor cabinet.

06:10 Food & Cigar Pairing Suggestions
As far as food pairings, simple corn chips or corn snacks would make for a lovely combination with the corn based material that is used for the bourbon whiskey.

In terms of cigars, I went for an AJ Fernandez Connecticut Shade wrapped cigar. The creaminess, and sweetness with a slight bitterness in the finish are a great compliment. I wouldn't go for an overly complex, heavy, spicy cigar because it could easily overshadow this bourbon whiskey.

07:01 Overall Experience, Value For Money, & Presentation
Overall, Buffalo Trace offers great bang for your buck. This is a very affordable bottle, so the price value ratio is excellent. Again, underlining the fact that this is your everyday standard pouring bourbon.

With its well-balanced medium complex, this is an excellent bourbon for all your preferred cocktails and long drinks.

00:35 Bacardí Gold Rum Overview
Bacardí is a giant and Carta Oro is one of its biggest sellers. As all rums from the brand, it's Puerto Rican and is composed of a blend of around 14 different rums aged from between three to five years old, most typically in American white oak casks.

Technically speaking, it's an amber or gold rum as the name suggests. This definitely matches the Latin style of rum making. In terms of ABV, this Bacardí Carta Oro is 35.7%.

01:14 Robe & Appearance
In the glass, this Bacardí is pale with an amber-colored hue. In terms of residue, it is a bit sticky so there is probably a bit of added sugar. If you're going to add some water to it to see how it reacts, you're probably going to see a little bit of reaction, but the chances are chill filtering has been involved.

01:54 Nose
The nose has a very prickly feel. It also has notes of toffee with pear drops and asphalt. It's not offensive to the nose but has a strong alcohol bloom. The bouquet isn't overly rich but is slightly intense - It definitely clears the nostrils. It's a very mild nose overall.

02:32 Bacardí Gold Rum Tasting Notes
Overall, this Bacardí rum has an umami sort of primary flavor. There are savory characteristics with a little bit of sweetness but not as much as you would expect.

If you think this is something that has been doused in sugar to make it more palatable, it's not the case. It tastes quite natural.

The opening has some nutmeg and caramels with a hint of spice. Once in the heart, it reveals some fudge and a bit of gingerbread. And there's an interesting sort of charcoal flint minerality. Once you get to the finish, it's a classic vanilla finish. It doesn't really linger on the palette.

The texture is light and smooth. The complexity, though, is a simple composition of a few notes. There isn't too much diversity there and it's not extremely mature.

03:50 Presentation, Value & Ocassions
Bacardí's label is classic and truly looks great. There's no packaging and it comes with a screw top.

This isn't something that you'd use at a formal occasion. Although, if cocktails are involved, it's a great alternative to white rum. Largely, this is something that you're probably going to want to use as a mixer rather than drink it neat. Overall, you should not discard it. It does have its uses and it does deserve to be in many a drinks cabinet.

In terms of value, this is $15 for a bottle so it's rather cheap. Definitely offers great value if you want to use it as a mixer rather than going for a premium rum instead.

05:22 Cocktails & Pairings
If you were to have it neat, consider having it with some milk chocolate. This will probably increase the creaminess of the palette. It's going to smooth any of the rough edges out.

Similarly, you could consider dried fruit, more specifically figs or dates. The dried fruit can offset some of the lacking complexity in the rum and create a more intricate experience. After all, dry fruits is a note that you can occasionally detect in some more premium rums.

And finally, if you want to add some butteriness to the flavor profile, you could consider adding a croissant or some pastries. That can really smooth out and play along with the oily characteristics of the mouthfeel.

06:38 Cigar Pairings
When it comes to cigars, you could consider an AVO XO. That has a nice, smooth creaminess. On the other hand, also consider the J.C. Newman Brick House Double Connecticut or the Plasencia Reserva Original. These will offer some spiciness which can extend some of the flavors of the rum as well.

07:39 Overall Experience
Overall, Bacardí Carta Oro doesn't deserve to be as criminalized as it has been by the fervent and passionate rum community. It isn't going to be a complex rum that you're going to sip neat. It's going to be something that you're going to enjoy as part of a mixer or within a cocktail, and maybe sparingly on the rocks on its own.

Both of these models are the "Made in Japan version". The SKX used is an SKX011J and the Seiko 5 Sports is a reference SBSA009.

Both models are available in non-JDM versions as the SKX011K and SRPD59, respectively.

02:02 Case Comparison
The cases on both of these watches are essentially the same. That is because the Seiko 5 Sports line of dive watches were based largely on the SKX. This is likely due to the significant success that the SKX had over more than 2 decades.

The dimensions of the two watch cases are the same, and both have Seiko Hardlex crystals. Yet, the Seiko 5 Sports has a sapphire case back whereas the SKX has a solid caseback.

02:16 Bezel Comparison
Both bezels are quite similar to each other, however, the SRPD59/SBSA009 only has individual minute markings from 0 to 20 whereas the SKX011 has 60 individual minute calibrations on the bezel.

02:52 Orange Dials Comparison
The orange dials are where these two Seiko divers differ a great deal if you take the time to look up close.

The SKX has a bright orange dial that has a "flat" texture. On the other hand, the Seiko 5 Sports has a similar orange dial except it has a radial, brushed sunray finish. This definitely gives the SBSA009 a more refined look.

Additionally, the SBSA009/SRPD59 has applied hour indices whereas the SKX011 has lume plots that are painted directly on the dial.

Both models have gold-coated center hands, a black seconds hands, and green Siko LumiBrite luminous.

The date window, printed minute markings, and shape of the hour indices are largely the same.

05:00 Bracelet/ Strap Comparison & Options
The SKX011 is mostly sold on a black rubber strap. The SBSA009, on the other hand, is largely offered on the steel bracelet. In this category, the new SRPD59 is much more comfortable to wear than the SKX.

07:05 Crowns & Movement Comparison
The SKX has a screw-down crown and 200m water resistance. On the other hand, the SRPD59 does not screw down so its water-resistance tops out at 100m, however, the movement can be wound through the crown.

The SKX is powered by an older Seiko 7S26 movement while the SRPD59 is powered by the newer Seiko 4R36. Both movements are automatic with a power reserve of around 41 hours, yet the newer 7S26 also boasts hand-winding and hacking seconds functionality. These two features definitely place it a notch above the SKX and the older 7S26 movement.

The Seiko Turtle SRPD21, while a special edition with a unique dial and bezel, boasts the same case dimensions as the traditional Turtle dive watches. They are as follows:

- 44.5mm in diameter
- 47mm lug-to-lug
- 13mm thick (tall)
- 22mm lug size (strap size)

Many past Turtle models are offered on a silicone strap, however, this Save The Ocean Turtle comes on a sturdy steel bracelet.

02:27 Bezel and Case Details
This SRPD21 has a unidirectional diver's bezel in steel. The bezel insert is quite unique in that it has both blue and grey colors as well as a concentric circle texture that is unlike Seiko Turtles that came before it.

The crystal protecting the face of this SRPD21 is Seiko Hardlex which, while not as scratch-resistant as the more premium sapphire, is nevertheless shatter-proof.

The dial on the SRPD21 Great White Shark not only boasts a beautiful blue color, but it also has an attractive ocean wave texture and brushed sunray texture.

Surrounding the entire dial is a slanted minute track with silver minute calibrations. Applied on the dial are luminous hour indices. The hands at center are classic Turtle hands with green Seiko LumiBrite, except for the seconds hand, which has a special edition contour similar to that of a shark's tail.

The bracelet on this SRPD21 is another one of its best characteristics. The bracelet has an attractive design and contrasting surface finishes that are reminiscent of an Omega* Seamaster bracelet.

The folding clasp is made of stamped steel and has not only a double-button security system but also a fold-over component that ensures the watch stays securely on your wrist at all times.

The Seiko SRPD21 Turtle is powered by a Seiko self-winding 4R36 movement with Day and Date function. It can also be manually wound via the crown and has a 41-hour power reserve. As indicated on the dial, the movement inside the SRPD21 is made in Japan.

In 1837, Gaétan Picon was stationed in Algeria when he served as part of the French army. It is there that he invented Picon which at the time was called African Amer. After returning to France in 1872, Gaétan started its production in Marseille.

Picon Biere is made by combining gentian with quinquina as well as sugar, syrup, and caramel to round off the taste. The ingredients are steeped in orange peels and likely distilled again. While Picon Biere used to be stronger, today it is 18% ABV.

Picon is very popular in the USA, particularly in Idaho, however, it remains relatively elusive and hard to find.

02:19 Robe & Appearance
Picon is a deep, dark color and slightly hazy. It produces a very sticky residue as a result of the aforementioned caramel and syrup additives. In the glass, the legs are slow but thin, and the

Picon Biere's nose is warm and oily. It has a distinct aroma of orange peels along with wine and spice that results in a prickly bouquet. Overall, the nose is rich without being intense; the notes are diverse with some nuances, however, it is not too complex.

03:16 Palate
The primary flavor of Picon is, unsurprisingly, bitter. The mouthfeel is oily, much like the nose. The opening presents orange peel and wine also detected in the nose, although there probably isn't wine here. There is a thick fruitiness and then a zesty hint of lemon.

In the heart, there are more prominent spice notes including nutmeg and some bitterness that is reminiscent of grapefruit. In the finish, the bitterness crescendos in the center of the palate.

With Picon Biere, you can expect some gentian, quinine, and finally caramel that softens the taste into a lingering and pleasant finish.

All in all, Picon is approachable and not too complex, though it can be a bit overwhelming for those who don't enjoy bitter drinks such as black coffee. Yet, when paired with beer, it definitely adds substance to a refreshing blonde beer.

The texture is smooth if a bit heavy on the palette. The maturity is basically nonexistent, but it does feel like time was taken to produce it. Picon provides a pleasurable stimulation, even if it's dominated by the prominent sweet and bitter notes. You'll also some savory and sour elements that provide a full palette and experience.

05:23 Overall Experience
Picon's bottle is classic with a glued label and a normal screw-top cap. The label mentions awards yet none seem to be from the 20th century.

In terms of value, you can probably buy this for $25 in the USA, if you can find it at all. In France, you can pick this up for just about 10 Euros so it's truly quite affordable and long-lasting.

In terms of occasion, this isn't something that you drink formally. It is a very casual drink enjoyed for refreshment and is definitely not a spirit you'd see at a black-tie affair. Occasionally, some families may enjoy it neat at dinners as a digestif.

07:08 Cocktail Suggestions
Picon Bière is best enjoyed in beer as a shandy. There is another version called Picon Amer and that is made for mixing in cocktails. Picon punch is a popular cocktail that consists of Amaro liqueur or traditionally Picon Bière, soda water, grenadine, a splash of lemon, and a bit of brandy.

Otherwise, you could probably use this as part of a Negroni. In that case, you'd also be using Armagnac or cognac instead.

08:14 Pairings
You could consider pairing Picon with a game stew or a filet mignon, but it's best paired with salty snacks such as nuts or potato chips.

For cigar pairings, consider a Plasencia Alma del Fuego which is very full-bodied and spicy, or an Oliva Serie V Melanio. If you want to try it neat and don't have either of these cigars at hand, consider something spicy, full body and full of flavor as they'll complement Picon very well.

The Seiko Prospex Samurai SBDY007/SRPB49 was released in 2017, though the Samurai line of watches existed long before then. First introduced in 2004, Seiko Samurai watches had been discontinued and nearly unheard until their re-release in 2017.

The Samurai SRPB49 is a great-looking watch, if a bit large.

Case dimensions are:
- 43.5mm in diameter
- 48mm lug-to-lug
- 13mm thick (tall)
- 22mm lug size (strap size)

The sharp angles of the Seiko Prospex Samurai give it a much more aggressive appearance than other Seiko dive watches such as the SKX, Seiko 5 Sports, Turtle, or the Captain Willard.

02:48 Steel Samurai Case Details
The case on this Seiko SRPB49 is made entirely of stainless steel. It has a brushed top surface with high-polish case flanks. The lugs are shaped so that they almost appear to be welded onto the case, but nevertheless, this is a monoblock case.

The crown is textured to help provide grip and the lugs have lugholes that make it a breeze to change the strap or bracelet. The crown is a screw-down crown that helps the watch attain a 200m depth rating.

04:20 Seiko SRPB49 Diver's Bezel
The unidirectional bezel on the SBDY007 is also in steel to match the case and is textured to match the crown. It has a metal, two-tone insert with silver minute markings. At 12, it has a luminous pip.

The Seiko Samurai SRPB49/SBDY007 is most easily recognized by its blue textured dial. The dial is similar to a hobnail or Clou de Paris pattern, except it's done in relief on the dial.

Also present on the dial are applied hour indices with luminous fills, a date window at 3 o'clock, and polished center "Samurai" hands, also with luminous fills.

The entire face of this Samurai is protected by a Seiko Hardlex crystal.

El Político Cigar By Joshua Habursky - Cigar Review

The El Politico was the brainchild of Joshua Habursky, who is head of governmental affairs with the Premium Cigar Association. He approached Luciano Meirelles to produce his very special business card that he calls the El Politico cigar. It's a 6x52 Toro manufactured by Tabacalera Pichardo in Nicaragua.

Originally, 5,000 cigar bands were printed and 2,100 of the final cigars were given away at the 2021 PCA trade show in Las Vegas. In 2022, the cigars will become more readily available for the public to smoke.

Parts of the revenue from the sales of the cigar will go to charitable causes and support the PCA's advocacy fight.

02:56 Cigar's Look & Feel
The cigar features a toothy and textured Mexican San Andreas wrapper. It covers a blend of Jalapa and Pueblo Nuevo tobaccos, which have become signature tobacco for ACE Prime and Tabacalera Pichardo in their various projects and blends.

The cigar looks rather elegant. The ring features the capitol dome as well as three stars underneath, highlighting Washington DC, the PCA's home office headquarters. There is no box yet because these cigars are given away individually, but overall, the presentation is neat, elegant and with the gold rim, it looks really nice and tidy.

02:14 Cutting & Prelight Considerations
The roll is firm with minimal seams and just tiny little veins. Overall, it feels very well made.

The pre-light draw gives just the right amount of resistance. It also has notes of bitter chocolate, a very dry earthy cocoa with just a little bit of dried mushrooms in general.

04:58 First Third
The first third opens with a combination of bitter chocolate elevated by a creamy, nutty note underneath. Towards the back, there's some fruitiness, reminiscent of morello cherries and lemon zest.

05:26 Second Third
Into the second third, the cigar shows the typical Nicaraguan spice, earthiness, bitter chocolate, and a sprinkle of sea salt and minerality.

The strength has consistently been a solid medium, but the body is full and is rich. The complexity most definitely is there.

05:51 Final Third
The cigar shows nuances from one third, moving on to the second and then to the final third. And there are lots of different subtleties and aromas and flavors to be detected once you progress through the smoking experience.

The final third shows some more citrus and saltiness. So the minerality and the ethereal connotation of the smoke is more pronounced but still encompassed in the overall bitter chocolate and nutty creaminess that the cigar shows so wonderfully well.

06:35 Overall Experience
Overall, this is a very harmonious smoking experience. It's not overpowering, overly spicy or drying, but rather feels well put together and well balanced. The vitola being a traditional Toro is definitely mass applicable, as well as the blend overall.

In general, the cigar is most definitely an occasional smoke, simply because of the sheer nature of the project and how Josh distributes the cigars. However, they will be more readily available so that people can pick it up and smoke them as an everyday treat because ultimately that's Josh's vision moving forward, that El Politico will become a regular installment and a regular part of people's cigar rotation.

07:39 Pairings
When it comes to pairing recommendations, because of the nuttiness of the chocolate, a great pairing is bitter chocolate-coated macadamia nuts. You could also go for a salty snack like a pretzel or a Rosemary sprinkled type of cracker and biscuit.

When it comes to beverages, I'm a huge fan of smoking the cigar alongside an elegant, full-bodied, creamy, and mellow XO cognac. For those of you who are not into alcoholic beverages, I'd probably try the cigar with hazelnut milk.

For now, this is the only vitola that the El Politico is available in, but there will be other renditions of the cigar further down the line. So probably, we will see an enlarging portfolio of El Politico and different options for you to try.

00:29 Noilly Prat Dry Vermouth Overview
Noilly Prat is a quintessential dry vermouth that dates back to the late 18th century when a French merchant started to experiment with various wines, spirits, and botanicals that he had at hand. Ultimately, he tweaked the process which resulted in the 1813 recipe. While the Noilly Prat company was founded in the 1850s, the brand is today a subsidiary of the Bacardi conglomerate.

This vermouth results from a combination of Picpoul and Clairette wines that originate in Marseillan, France. These wines are left to oxidize for 12 months and then mixed with a Mistelle, high-proof alcohol, and various botanicals.

02:58 Robe & Appearance
Noilly Prat is gold and yellow and slightly viscous. This evidences that there's sugar added though it's not very thick.

03:32 Nose
The nose offers a floral burst at first, as well as some camomile, spicy paprika, white pepper, lovage, Sorrell, and Bay leaf. The vermouth is not obvious, unlike with Martini dry vermouth. Here, it's more subdued yet not lacking in complexity and depth.

04:57 Noilly Prat Vermouth Palate & Mouthfeel
The taste is fresh and lively with notes of honey, thyme, and even rosemary is there. Then, the wormwood kicks in, providing bitterness through its very long finish. This dry vermouth is 18% with quite a bit of maturation, though it's not overpowering. Neither does it lose its primary fruit characteristics in spite of the depth and the richness.

There is a very pleasing evolution on the palette, beginning with fruitiness onto floral freshness. In between, the bitterness offers additional notes of white pepper. Towards the back, there is a prolonged bitter quality that carries everything into the finish.

06:44 How To Drink & Pairings
Noilly Prat is good to sip all by itself, though few drink it in this manner. Yet, it makes for a gorgeous wine to pair with meals. It could also be used for cooking.

Cocktail options include a dry martini, in a long drink with a little bit of bitter lemon, ginger ale, or tonic water over ice. When combined with a small snack, blanched almonds or raw walnuts will act as a proper complement.

If you enjoy a cigar with your spirit, consider a medium-bodied smoke from the Dominican Republic such as the La Galera from Jochy Blanco that I opted for.

The packaging is very unique and distinct. The liter bottle is slim, green, and quite familiar to those who collect spirits. The label is vibrant with golden elements. It proudly states the company name as well as the date. Other than that, since it's a very affordable bottle ($15-20 depending on your region) it's not overly fancy or glamorous.

While every bottle has its own individual blade of bison grass, this is purely decorative. The bison grass flavor is achieved by steeping the plant in alcohol, filtering, ad then mixing with a rye base. You can expect alcohol by volume of 37.5%.

01:41 Robe & Appearance
Zu Bison Grass vodka has a distinctive lime color or tint, though the liquid itself is quite clear. Its viscosity produces scallops on the side of the glass, pointing to the fact that Zubrowka is relatively unctuous for a vodka.

Żubrówka Vodka has a prickly nose feel that is rich in aroma. There are notes of hay and vanilla along with some aromatics that include rosemary. Broadly speaking, it is not intense but rather balanced and harmonious.

02:48 Palate
Overall, Zu polish vodka has a sweet primary flavor. The mouthfeel is very creamy and, especially for a vodka, it's very rounded and it's very smooth.

The opening consists of lemon zest, some grape, and a hint of cinnamon. Once you get into the heart, there are notes anise and a hint of cardamom. Interestingly, there's also a note of coconut prior to the finish, which itself consists of tonka bean and rose. The finish is medium to long, and the complexity is surprisingly more prominent on the palate than the nose.

Żubrówka was illegal in the USA until recently due to the bison grass used which contains trace amounts of coumarin. However, a new formula was made for the American market.

04:34 Overall Experience
Żubrówka has a distinctive bottle with a bison accompanied by some text and depictions of medals which are not prizes but speak to the brand itself. Pressed into the glass there are extra blades of grass, as well as the bison and the logo. There is no packaging for the bottle.

Being a very versatile polish vodka, this is a great option to sip neat, especially if you generally don't enjoy drinking vodka in this manner. If you're of Eastern European heritage, this is likely a great option to have on hand.

05:44 Occasion & Value For Money
In terms of occasion, this vodka is ideal for casual parties and a good fit for formal occasions given its unique nature.

With a retail price of $26 or €15 in Europe, it is fairly priced.

06:15 Cocktails & Pairings
Zubrowka can be quite happily sipped neat. If this style isn't your cup of tea (or cup of vodka), you can integrate it into cocktails such as a vodka martini or as a substitute for gin in a typical gin-tonic. Truly, it goes very nicely with some tonic water and a classic twist of lime.

You can also add it to a Moscow mule in which it'll add another layer of complexity. Overall, you'll be safe using it as an alternative to both gin and vodka in lots of different cocktails.

When it comes to pairings, it's said to go very nicely with vanilla ice cream or fruit sorbet. A typical tradition in some parts of Scandinavia is to have akvavit and seafood; you could certainly have Żubrówka instead in such a scenario. Given that many Scandinavian akvavits are herbaceous and rich in fennel, this is a good option if you're not too keen on fennel.

Finally, when it comes to pairing with a cigar, my recommendation would be an Oliva Connecticut Reserve as it has a potent profile with nutty characteristics. Otherwise, another type of Connecticut cigar would marry well with the Żubrówka.

The 1998 is the premium line of VegaFina, itself a very popular cigar brand over in Europe. VegaFina cigars are primarily known for their mild to medium-bodied and strength cigars. Yet, this 1998 takes things a notch up in terms of quality as well as strength, body, and impact.

01:24 Cigar's Look & Feel
The VegaFina 1998 possesses a very oily chocolate brown wrapper leaf that is Ecuadorian Habano. The 1998 line in available in three vitolas: the VF50, the VF52 in this video, and the VF54, with the numbers speaking to the ring gauge of the cigars.

The cigar is made by Tabacalera Arturo Fuente in the Dominican Republic and features a USA Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper with a wrapper and filler that use tobacco from the Dominican Republic.

02:14 Cutting & Prelight Considerations
The construction of this VegaFina 1998 cigar is perfect. There are minimal seams, few veins, and a glossy and oily wrapper. The cold draw has just the right amount of resistance.
The pre-light draw expresses a bit of cocoa, woody, and mushroomy notes with a slight caramel hint and a bit of black pepper. Likewise, the aroma off of the wrapper and the foot is a little musky.

03:07 First Third
The 1998 line has a very interesting aromatic profile with "a little bit of everything". It's a mellow creamy beginning with chocolate cream that also has notes of cocoa powder, a slight minerality, salty undertones, and lastly a certain earthiness that is reminiscent of mushrooms as detected in the cold draw.

Yet, everything is well balanced and nicely intermingled, this probably being due to the composition of the blend in the filler which has Dominican, Nicaraguan, and Colombian tobaccos held together by a binder from Java, Indonesia. And, and mentioned earlier, the Ecuadorian Habano wrapper adds its own character.

04:24 Second Third
Whilst the first third is mellow and creamy with a certain sweetness, in the second third, dried fruits come to the forefront along with earthy nuances that give the smoking experience a little more character, spice, depth.

Towards the second third, the body of the cigar has reached the full point, whereas the strength is proudly and solidly sitting at a medium mark. Yet, there are still lots of different nuances, layers, and components to be detected with every single puff.

I've smoked quite a few of these and have always detected that the technical performance, the draw, the burn, is excellent.

06:02 Final Third
The final third, again, has more saltiness and umami from the dried mushrooms component. Likewise, the bitter components come back to the forefront with intensity and, towards the end, the strength is medium-plus, whereas the body is still full.

06:18 Overall Experience & Value For Money
What sets the VegaFina 1998 apart is value for money as these rather affordable cigars can be purchased for about $10.This is easily an everyday cigar while remaining something that you can take to a fancy event or to your favorite cigar lounge to enjoy with friends.

When it comes to pairing recommendations, I particularly enjoy the VF52 with a chocolate bar because the cigar gives a lot of chocolate nuances complemented by some spice and slight muskiness. You could even pair this VegaFina cigar with truffle as it'd be an excellent combination with the creamy, nutty, and spicy nuances of the cigar.

When it comes to beverages, try it with a well-aged single malt scotch or, for those who prefer a non-alcoholic pairing, chocolate milk would also work fabulously well with this smoke.

Overall, the design of the 1998 is neat, the ring looks gorgeous and so do the boxes. The smoking experience is delectable with a lot of aromas and flavors, and the technical performance is excellent.

Surrounding the latter is yet another silver ring upon which the 24 time-zone reference cities are imprinted. It is this outermost city ring and the dual-tone ring which rotate to properly indicate the time in different cities throughout the world.

Perique Tobacco Liqueur is interesting it bridges the finest tobacco product and highest quality spirits which, from a sensory and organoleptic standpoint, make much sense. What they ultimately came up with is this 31% ABV liqueur that uses one of the most particular types of tobacco, Perique tobacco from the Mississippi River in Louisiana.

On the back label, it states Louisiana Perique is the rarest and most precious tobacco in the entire world and while this is up for discussion, we can at least give them credit for using the tobacco in this spirit.

02:44 Robe & Appearance
Jade Perique's appearance is golden brown with medium viscosity and a slight haziness or cloudiness so it's likely that this is not chill-filtered.

03:08 Nose
The nose has an interesting sweet raisin, bitter orange marmalade, leather armchair, and woody melange that is reminiscent of fermenting tobacco. There are also tea notes but overall the nose is woody with slightly charred characteristics.

04:00 Palate
At 31% ABV, the alcoholic warmth is certainly detectable though still mellow and interwoven with a sweetness that perfectly underlines the liqueur characteristic. This flavor profile gives bartenders plenty of room to play with; it brings together the different flavors and sensations of sweet, bitter, sour, slight minerality, and a touch of umami.

05:05 Finish & Overall Experience
The length is quite spectacular, lending itself to be combined with cognac, armagnac, and whiskey.

One could akin the Perique experience to the smell and taste of standing in the middle of a tobacco facility or a cigar factory. It makes for a delicious and refreshing though still complex and elegant.

06:53 Pairings
In terms of pairing recommendations, I tried with a 1926 Padron cigar which made for a fantastic if slightly overwhelming experience because the cigar is so intense and complex, as is this tobacco liqueur.

To tame things down, I tried just a chunky loaf of walnut bread as well as homemade sourdough which both proved a gorgeous combination with the Perique. I could also see this going into a tiramisu or other desserts. Likewise, I can see this drizzled-over vanilla ice cream or even used to deglaze a pan after firing up a steak or even seafood.

Jade Perique Tobacco Liqueur will set you back around $35 depending on where you are in the world. Given the experience and sleek presentation, the value for money is certainly there especially considering it can be enjoyed in many different ways.

00:38 Justerini & Brooks Rare Blended Scotch Whisky Overview
Justerini & Brooks is best known for its initials J&B, with its blended scotch whiskey likely being its most famous product. Nevertheless, it is actually a wine and spirits merchant that has existed since 1749 and has been a supplier for the British monarchy since 1761 when it started with King George III.

J&B Rare blended scotch is a recent product, starting around the early to mid-20th century, gaining fame in the '60s and '70s following placements in a variety of films and notably, Italian cinema.

The J&B scotch blend consists of about 42 malt and grain whiskeys.

01:29 Robe & Appearance
The robe has a slightly pale color and is quite clear. The legs are thin and fast and indicate that this scotch has been chill-filtered.

02:01 Nose
The nose isn't overly intense though it does prickle a bit due to a peppery nose feel. This being said, it doesn't have much complexity. Overall, there are aromas of pear drop solvency, cereal, almond, and a soft vanilla finish.

02:23 Palate
Overall, the palate has a sweet primary flavor with a fiery mouthfeel. The opening has some of the pear solvency from the nose, but in this form, it's closer to a pear compote. The complexity is simple and the texture is velvety. Lastly, maturity is very young.

In the heart, you get cereal notes, a bit of spice, and some milk chocolate. The finish is not particularly long nor is it very full in flavor; it consists of butterscotch, vanilla, and a hint of smoke.

03:29 Overall Experience
The label is quite recognizable with the J&B initials in big red letters and the royal warrant at the top. The packaging is mostly non-existent although it did have a plastic envelope and a regular screw-top.

04:14 Occasion, Value, & Cocktails
J&B Rare Scotch is largely something to keep in your desk by yourself or enjoy in a cocktail, considering that its value is actually quite good. It can usually be picked up for about 15EUR for a full-sized bottle or about 5EUR for the small bottle.

I generally wouldn't drink this neat. Although it's perfectly acceptable given its mild nature, it's probably best enjoyed on the rocks. You can also opt to use it in a cocktail such as a whiskey sour or an old-fashioned.

05:09 Pairings
What could one accompany J&B Rare with? Milk, chocolates, fresh walnuts, and even some smoked trout are options.

As for cigars, I'd opt for an equally affordable and still pleasant Gilberto Oliva Reserva. Otherwise, consider a cigar with a Habano wrapper or equivalent or anything else with a medium-bodied profile.

In conclusion, J&B Rare Scotch is not an unpleasant blended scotch as long as you remember what it is. It's not going to really give you something that you can really appreciate in terms of flavor. Nevertheless, it is very good value for money and is something that everyone can have as part of their drinks cabinet.

Released in 1935, Jägermeister was intended to be a worker's drink and was named after the Reichjägermeister, who was Hermann Göring at the time. However, thanks to the work of Sidney Frank, who ran an American liquor importing company, it became embraced by 1980s American student culture.

Created in Wolfenbüttel, Germany, Jager is technically a Käuterlikör, an herbal liquor that is also part of the schnapps family. It is produced using an undisclosed alcoholic base, steeped with 56 different botanicals, and then aged in oak casks for about a year.

01:30 Robe
Jagermeister is very dark with a sort of reddish hue. It's residue is quite sticky which highlights the level of additives likely to include sugars and caramel colorings. The legs are thin and fast and run down the sides of the glass.

02:21 Nose
The nose is distinctively mentholated with notes of fennel, cloves, cinnamon, and anise. The botanicals are very rich, as is the herbaceousness and the spices. Overall, it's very strong.

02:52 Palate
Jägermeister is not a drink to have at room temperature but rather it should be freezer-chilled. Even the brand recommends this. The alcohol bloom is quite strong and the lower the temperature, the less noticeable this is.

The primary flavor is sweet with an oily mouthfeel; it opens with notes of ginger, cinnamon, and anise. These slowly fade to reveal its heart of fennel, clove, and some orange peel, before evolving into a finish of licorice, vanilla, and sweet caramel. Complexity isn't really Jägermeister's strong suit, although there is a diversity of flavor.

The texture is overall quite smooth and heavy on the palate. Although you have an interesting journey of notes, it doesn't have the complex chords that you would expect.

On versatility - this is quite a limited drink. You won't be able to drink it in many different ways for different occasions. It is likely best suited for casual evenings.

04:44 Experience
In terms of the presentation, the distinctive label and the green pressed-glass bottle have barely changed since it was created. The packaging is non-existent and in terms of cork quality, you're looking at a metal screw cap.

05:22 Cocktail & Pairing Options
In terms of cocktails, Jägermeister options tend to be intended to get you inebriated. For instance, a popular option is the Jägerbomb, which is basically Red Bull and Jägermeister. There are others like Liquid Heroin, the Four Horsemen Of The Apocalypse, Surfer On Acid, and Starry Night, which are about as sophisticated as they sound.

Other ways of enjoying Jägermeister around a meal include having it chilled with some cured ham or perhaps roasted lamb. You could also consider using it to cook, such as by marinating a leg of lamb or a lamb shank.

When it comes to cigars, consider more spicy cigars that are going to have a rich and bold character such as the Oliva Serie V Melanio Maduro or a Perdomo 20th Anniversary Sun Grown.

07:49 Final Thoughts
There tends not to be an in-between with Jager, you either love it or hate it, though it is a drink that is renowned and for good reason. If you are somebody who enjoys herbaceous flavors, for example like Scandinavian Aquavit, which is sometimes barrel-aged and uses lots of herbs and spices, then perhaps Jägermeister is going to be something that you'd enjoy. Conversely, if you like Jägermeister, consider also exploring some Scandinavian Aquavits. They're going to give you perhaps more complexity and a more artisanal approach to this type of beverage.

The Arturo Fuente Spanish Lonsdale Maduro is part of the brand's Gran Reserva line. It's vitola is not only visually intriguing but also a very popular one. As far as dimensions, it is 6 1/2 by 42 ring gauge.

The cigar is made by Tabacalera Arturo Fuente in the Dominican Republic and features a USA Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper with a wrapper and filler that use tobacco from the Dominican Republic.

01:25 Cigar's Look & Feel
The Connecticut wrapper has a dark & chocolatey tone with a few bumps, minimal veins, and a toothy texture. While it looks a bit rustic from afar, it has lots of oil and sheen, giving the cigar an overall promising and invigorating look.

I'm using a Smoking Moses cutter to remove the cap and get a prelight draw - it offers the right amount of resistance with note of chocolate hay, and a slight bit of fruit.

Moreover, the wrapper boasts notes of cherry, wet leather, mint, and once more fruity notes with an herbaceous quality.

02:58 First Third
Right away, this Arturo Fuente Maduro starts with sweet notes counterbalanced by some bitter ones. Individually, I can gather notes of toffee and cardamom with sweet leather. There's also a jasmine floral scent and pink pepper in the retrohale. Overall, the flavor profile is rich with a full mouthfeel. The strength is right between mild and medium.

05:57 Construction & Burn
The technical performance of this Arturo Fuente Spanish Lonsdale is excellent. The burn is perfect with an even, stable ash even in spite of its slender vitola.

06:28 Value For Money & Presentation
I've personally smoked many of these Spanish Lonsdale Maduros and I find they provide excellent value for money. They come in boxes of 25 and the boxes themselves are detailed and elegant.

07:34 Finish & Pairings
The finish on the cigar is truly enjoyable: it is long, complex, and rich with the right balance of sweet, sour, and acid notes.

I like to pair the Spanish Lonsdale with umami foods such as beef broth and miso soup or other salty, crunchy snacks such as pretzels. The typical chocolate treat will also pair well.

This being said, I think this A. Fuente Gran Reserva Maduro shines brightest with a glass of Oloroso Sherry by its side and, as many other cigars, also works well with a bold espresso.

Overall, I think this is a most enjoyable and affordable cigar that delivers on all levels. With a nuanced, aromatic, and creamy mouth feel, it offers many varied components that can be detected layer upon layer.

01:02 Overview
We've previously reviewed Bulleit Rye Frontier on the channel - you can find that review here: youtu.be/zY4Fv0x7eB0. In that sister spirit, a high rye content is a strong theme. That theme is also present with the Bulleit Bourbon though less pronounced.

The original recipe is attributed to Augustus Bulleit, a man who disappeared in the late 1800s. It's not clear how much of this backstory is marketing though it's true that the same centuries-old recipe remains in use.

02:29 Bulleit Bourbon Whiskey Robe & Appearance
In the glass, Bulleit's Bourbon is a lovely golden brown hue and lacking any haziness or cloudiness. It's also viscous and oily with prominent legs that run slowly down the glass.

03:01 Bulleit's Nose
The nose is mellow and sweet, almost reminiscent of vanilla and butterscotch. There are also notes of cookie dough, chocolate chips, Marzipan, and ripe red apple. Underneath, I also detect white chocolate and mint that lighten up the experience. All in all, n interesting melange of sweet and spicy tones with lively nuances.

On the second nose, a typical smokiness and white oak woodiness are revealed. I interpret it less as fresh wood and more like charred wood. There is quite a bit of that which adds a layer of maturity and complexity to the overall nose. Indeed, it takes you from the sweet, mellow, and juicy fruit to a more mature, umami, smokey sensation that ties it all together.

05:10 Tasting/Palate
The high rye content is not only detectable in the nose but also very prominent on the palette. Yes, there is sweetness and yes, you get some of the typical charred oak aromas and flavors expected of a Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey. However, there is a distinct rye sourdough bread spice that produces a prickly sensation.

Overall, this makes the flavor profiles much more nuanced. Additionally, the sweetness is counterbalanced by slight spice and pepper in the back. The finish is long with a bitter quality resulting from the rye coming together with the charred oak. Lively, dynamic, sweet, sour, bitter, and spicy, all in good balance.

The finish is also not overly long nor is the Whiskey overly complex. I would say Bulleit Bourbon is intended for bartenders.

06:51 Cocktail Suggestions
Bulleit Bourbon is almost made to be drunk with ginger ale poured over ice as well as in an Old Fashioned or even a Manhattan. Another cocktail option is a Mint Julep. Without a doubt a versatile spirit that can be enjoyed in many different ways.

One of my personal favorite cocktails is a Horse's Neck type of drink where the Bourbon is poured over ice, then a couple of dashes of Angostura bitters are added, and lastly top it off with ginger ale and orange zest garnish.

07:32 Food & Cigar Pairing Suggestions
When pairing with food, I'm a fan of chocolate chip cookies alongside this bourbon whiskey. Anything with a slight minty taste is recommended, including ice cream or another dessert with citrus and mint notes.

On cigars, I chose the HVC hot cake which possesses a sweetness that's counterbalanced spiciness; in this regard, it resembles the qualities of the Bulleit bourbon rather closely.

08:25 Overall Experience, Value For Money, & Presentation
The price point makes this a candidate for being an everyday treat. The presentation is not super fancy packaging though the embossed hip flask bottle style is quite engaging.

Over time, I find the woody aromas to be more prominent and the charred oak to be a little more upfront with the sweetness being tamed. This makes the spirit a bit more complex, drier and spicier.

00:14 Captain Morgan Spiced Rum Overview
Possibly named after Sir Henry Morgan, a privateer who later became Lieutenant Governor of Jamaica, Captain Morgan is technically not a rum. However, it is derived from molasses-based rum and is produced in the US Virgin Islands. If you are going to call it a rum, this is going to be a flavored rum. There's no information regarding the age of rums used, but by the taste, it seems they were aged in American Oak casks.

01:15 Robe & Appearance
In the glass, Captain Morgan spiced rum is a hazy-colored drink with fast and thin legs. It leaves a heavy residue in the hand that speaks to the additives used. Then again, that is to be expected as the whole purpose of its existence is that it is mixed and steeped with various herbs, spices, and likely sugar or molasses.

This classic spiced rum has a prickly nose feel along with spices such as cinnamon, vanilla, and some coconut. The bouquet isn't intense, its diversity is more so limited, and it's not crazy complex.

02:46 Morgan Spiced Rum Tasting Notes
At first taste, there is a very sweet primary flavor along with some savoriness. It opens up with a distinctive nutmeg and caramel. Once into the heart, those two fade to reveal clove, gingerbread, aniseed, and a rich, drying cinnamon finish.

The finish is actually quite long. You get a good bit of spice that keeps on delivering, and it's quite pleasant. The complexity isn't insane and the texture is on the rough side. Overall, it's very youthful in flavor without much depth.

03:59 Presentation, Value & Ocassions
This bottle has the classic label with Captain Morgan on the front. It's a nice design with the ship pressed into the glass at the back. There's no cork but instead a metal screw top.

In terms of value for money, this generally costs $30 in the USA for a bottle of spiced rum, whereas in France or in Europe, you're looking at about 15 euros. It offers great value, it's inexpensive, and it's very easy to drink, neat, with ice, or as part of a cocktail.

On occasions: this is far from a premium drink so it's best suited to really casual drinking or even at a cocktail bar.

04:53 Cocktails & Pairings
I wouldn't really consider this for pairings. This isn't something that you have with a meal however you could certainly cook with it.

As a cocktail ingredient, it works best in drinks like a Pina Colada or a Dark and Stormy, maybe even a Mojito. You could also potentially consider it for Mojito, but it's going to be a very, very different Mojito. You could include it as part of a Mule and enjoy it with some ginger ale.

On cigars, I would suggest a nice balanced cigar that's not too heavy or too mild. For example, the Ashton Heritage is a good option. Avoid cigars such as a Connecticut cigar that can be very creamy.

If you go on any sort of dedicated run website, they are going to be less than appreciative of its characteristics and its flavor. But then again, it's never been made as a premium rum. It doesn't even try to be one.

Mostly, Captain Morgan tries to evoke the sort of pirate style, but it's basically a spiced rum that you can enjoy as part of a cocktail. You can drink it neat, it's absolutely fine. It's not hard to drink whatsoever.

00:51 Silicone "Mesh" Strap
Within the Suits subcollection, Seiko has paired mesh or Milanese-style bands with the watches. This is the silicone mesh band that imparts a unique look compared to traditional rubber straps. Most importantly, it remains a very comfortable strap to wear.

Also within the Suits collection is a more traditional steel Milanese or mesh bracelet that is not only flashy but also comfortable.

01:57 Fused "alligator-Silicone Strap
Here, Seiko uses the same flexible silicone component with a faux alligator insert that helps to give the watch a classier look. The base of the strap being silicone, it remains very comfortable to wear. The tang buckle has also been coated to match the tone of the case.

Seiko's new bracelet option is a full-steel 3-link bracelet that is similar to the Rolex Oyster bracelet. The black PVD "Hard coating" covers all facets of the bracelet and clasp, though there are still contrasting brushed/polished finishes on the top and sides of the bracelet, respectively.

This steel bracelet is more common within the Seiko 5 Sports model line than the coated style though the finish on the bracelet and clasp are the same.

04:00 Brown, Black, & Blue NATO Straps
The NATO strap can be found throughout the Seiko 5 Sports subfamilies, though naturally they are in different colors. Seiko has also matched the metal components used in the strap with the metal/coating of the cases which is a nice detail.

All of the cases have lug holes which will aid in changing the straps/bracelet, though Seiko has evidently designed the watch head & strap as a package.

Additionally, the 2 at the end of the reference number represents the fact that the watch is presented on a Seiko Jubilee-style bracelet in steel to match the rest of the watch's construction.

On the wrist, the SKX009K2 wears quite comfortably and proportional to my wrist even though it's larger than I usually prefer. The Jubilee bracelet specifically makes it very comfortable and dressier than if the watch was presented on a rubber strap.

The quality between Made in Japan and non-Made in Japan version of the SKX009 are minimal and only cosmetic. The performance of the movements is the same, as is the overall quality and construction of the watch.

The dimensions of the stainless steel case of the SKX009K2 are as follows:
- Diameter: 42.5mm (9 to 3 o'clock)
- Lug To Lug: 46mm
- Thickness: 13.4mm
- Strap Size (Between the lugs): 22mm
- Water Resistance: 200m / 660ft

As most Seiko dive watches, the SKX009K2's case employs two different finishes on its steel. The top is brushed or grained while the flanks of the case are in high polish. It also has the trademark Seiko crown with crown guards at 4 o'clock.

The bezel on this SKX009K2 Pepsi is in steel and is unidirectional. Inside of it is a dual-tone (red & Blue) diver's scale insert with a luminous pip at the main index.

The SKX009J has a two-tone (blue & red) metallic bezel insert with silver minute calibrations and a luminous pip at the top index. The watch also has a Seiko Hardlex crystal protecting its face.

The SKX009K2's face is protected by a Seiko Hardlex crystal. Hardlex is a proprietary Seiko material that is moderately resistant to scratches and is also shatterproof.

05:49 Dark Blue Dial Details
From many angles, it's tough to notice that the SKX009K2 in fact has a dark blue dial. This is also a characteristic that differentiates it from the base SKX model, the SKX007 (black dial).

The dial possesses "painted" luminous hour indices with white minute markings, polished center hands (luminous), and day-date aperture at 3 o'clock.

The luminous used on the dial and hands is Seiko LumiBrite which glows green in the dark.

This Made in Japan SKX009 has some elements on the dial that are unique to this version. They include some white text under the DIVER'S 200m text as well as a small "Made in Japan" under the 6 o'clock index.

While the SKX009K2 is an automatic/self-winding watch, it does not have hand-winding function nor hacking seconds. This means the only way to wind the movement is by moving the watch.

This SKX009K2 has been worn a lot so the bracelet is a bit lose. However, even when these Seiko Jubilee bracelet are new, they are not "tight" and are known for being "jangly". This characteristic does not stop them from being very comfortable to wear.

00:00 Introduction & Fair Café Overview
Fair is an interesting company that is just over 10 years old. They specialize in fair trade spirits which entails that every single component of the spirits must be fair trade certified.

The Fair Café Coffee Liqueur is made with 100% Arabica coffee beans from Mexico. These are mixed together with spirits and fair trade sugar in the cognac region of France.

Fair drinks' company is an Anglo-French combination that is now globally distributed. They've largely set the bar for all the liqueur and spirits companies when it comes to fair trade, organic and vegan-certified spirits.

00:45 Robe & Appearance
Right away, it's clear to see that this coffee liqueur has a very natural appearance unlike other coffee liqueurs that are almost black. Fair's Café is very opaque with a gold and amber color to it. Because there's sugar involved in the liqueur, the viscosity is rather thick and oily.

02:52 Nose
Immediately, I'm hit by that very fresh and lovely coffee blast. It's a dense coffee note, very natural, very ethereal with an almost freshly roasted and freshly ground coffee bean quality to it. I can sense some of the acidity that you would associate with particular coffee roasts, a slight minerality behind that. Then, it's all encompassed by a lovely caramel nutty, walnut, and hazelnut cream note.

A slight smokiness is there in the back as well together with a hint of a green herbaceous-ness that adds a layer of excitement, freshness, loveliness, and together with the acidity that I mentioned before. It lifts the entire nose here and the olfactory quality. The spirit is never cloying. It's never overly sweet.

04:08 Palate
For a liqueur, it is characterful, complex, and fun to engage with. On the palate, the very first thing you sense is a blast of freshly roasted organic coffee. There's some sweetness upfront, bitterness on the side of the tongue, and just a touch of acidity. For a coffee liqueur, it's not overly sugary nor heavy or dense as other comparable coffee liqueurs.

Aside from notes of marzipan and nougat, there is some charred tar and a woodiness towards the very back. It's quite lingering and a complex and full-body experience that I thoroughly enjoy.

05:46 How To Serve
One way I like to serve this is straight-up or the rocks. You could add orange zest or a lemon zest to add a little bit of the essential oils of the citrus.

07:08 Using In A Cocktail
I would recommend that you do a coffee and tonic with this. Alternatively, espresso martinis, Black Russians, or White Russians, are another obvious choice.

08:28 Pairings
Walnuts are a great pair as they accompany the bitterness and nuttiness of the liqueur. As far as cigars, a character-full Nicaraguan cigar with a dark wrapper would be excellent. Specifically, the Quattro Nicaragua from Aging Room. Indeed, the slight sweetness helps tame down some of the bitterness, spice, and challenging aspects that the cigar can bring to your palette.

09:45 Presentation
This bottle here is a bit outdated. Nevertheless, the juice inside is obviously the very same. The presentation is clean and minimalistic allowing the beautiful color of the spirit to shine. It comes in a 70-centiliter capacity with a wooden cork. While not flashy, the presentation helps convey the sustainable and organic message of the brand.

10:46 Overall Experience & Value
A rather versatile liqueur, this FAIR Coffee liqueur can be enjoyed in many different cocktails, neat by itself, and always as an accompaniment with cigars and foods. The bottle of the 70 cl Fair Cafe will probably set you back somewhere around 25 euros, or US dollars, depending on where you are around the world. It's definitely a more expensive coffee liqueur but worth your money every single time.

Seiko King Turtle SRPE05 Review: Grenade Dial, Ceramic Bezel, & Sapphire Crystal On Silicone Strap

The Seiko King Turtle SRPE05 was introduced in 2020. Its design is largely identical to the previous Seiko Turtle dive watches that came before it except for its patterned green dial, black ceramic bezel, and sapphire crystal with cyclops.

00:37 First Look & Case Dimensions
The SRPE05 is quite handsome thanks to its green tones and tried-and-true design.

Case dimensions are:
- 44.3mm in diameter
- 47mm lug-to-lug
- 13mm thick (tall)
- 22mm lug size (strap size)

While the dimensions are large, the flat design of the case makes it feel a lot more compact than it appears on paper. Additionally, the case is not very tall so this also helps the watch feel sleeker on the wrist. Still, it is a sports watch by nature and sports watches are rarely small.

02:47 Steel Case Details
The case is completely crafted of stainless steel with a brushed finish on its top and a high-polish finish on its side and underside. The case has lug holes and the point where the strap attached to the case is "deep" into the profile of the case itself which also helps the watch to wear more compactly.

This case along with the screw-down crown give the watch a 200m water resistance.

03:08 SRPE05 Black Ceramic Bezel & Sapphire Crystal
This bezel is also in steel to match the case but it has a grid pattern on its outer flank that helps when rotating the bezel. Most importantly, the bezel is also marked by a black ceramic diver's scale insert with silver minute calibrations and a luminous pip. The clicking of the bezel is smooth and satisfactory.

The crystal on this SRPE05 King Turtle is a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal. Sapphire is known as the standard for luxury timepieces (especially swiss watches) and it's a very nice detail for this SRPE05. Additionally, Seiko has included a cyclops that helps to read the day and date complication on the dial.

05:35 King Turtle Green "Grenade" Dial
Seiko refers to this dial as a khaki green dial. Given its pattern, the dial has earned this watch the King Turtle "Grenade" moniker. However, I believe the inspiration for this dial is Audemars Piguet Royal Oak watches and their famous Tapisserie dial texture.

The dial has applied hour indices with silver outlines and green Seiko LumiBrite luminous fills. The hands are also in a nice polished silver-tone also with a lot of lume.

The green strap on this SRPE05 may be one of its most overlooked characteristics but it is one of my favorite. The strap is very soft and flexible and makes for very light and comfortable wear. It also has a matching brushed steel keeper and tang buckle.

00:00 Intro & Overview
The Robusto vitola of this La Aurora 115th cigar was used for this review, however, both Toro and Gran Toro vitolas of this blend are available. The cigars smoked in this review were stored in a Remington Cabinet Humidor for about a month with 69% RH Boveda packs. The CigarMedics HumidiMeter was used previous to smoking and the RH of each individual cigar was around 68-68% RH as intended.

The La Aurora Cigar Factory in the Dominican Republic was the first on the Caribbean island and is now crowned as the oldest remaining.

The blend of the cigars employs:
- Ecuadorian Sumatra Wrapper
- Brazil binder
- Filler includes tobacco from the DR, Nicaragua, and Brazil.

01:33 Prelight Considerations
The is firm to the touch and the pre-light draw is ideal with only slight resistance. There are slight veins on this individual cigar though this has varied from cigar to cigar within the same box.

Dry-draw aromas include hay, woody notes, and distinct sweetness.

02:45 First Third & Construction Issues
On combustion: Some construction issues have been encountered when smoking a couple of these cigars. Sometimes they smoke slightly hot and uneven with flaky ash. Yet, this has not been true of all the cigars from the same box.

Into the first third, the notes include woodiness, cinnamon, and creamy earth. The smoke output in the first third leaves a bit to be desired.

04:06 Presentation & Formality
The band of the La Aurora 115th cigar is quite nice in black & gold with embossed elements. The box also matches the color scheme of the band and on the reverse side of the lid contains an outlined image of the La Aurora Factory. The outside of the box also contains additional information regarding the blends used in the cigar.

The presentation definitely elevates the cigar and makes it very easy to carry a couple of these with you to a black-tie event (such as a wedding) to smoke yourself and share with other guests.

05:15 Second Third
The most noticeable flavors in the second third include many of the same notes from the first third of the cigar along with peppery spice and citrus on the retrohale. Most prominently, the smoke output during the second third increases significantly which also enhances the body and mouthfeel of the cigar.

This evolution from first to second third was quite welcome and definitely improved the smoking experience.

05:48 Final Third
In the final third, notes of cedar, earthiness, sweet spice, and citrus are detected. The finish is pleasurably long-lasting and the cigar definitely evolves throughout, if only in its smoke output & body.

06:18 Overall Review & Some Pairings
Overall, the flavor profile of the La Aurora 115th Cigar is quite robust with clear woody and earthy notes. Its body is medium to medium-full, particularly in the second third.

The slight citrus notes (and the lack of sweetness) make this La Aurora cigar a great pair for an aged rum such as a Ron Diplomático (Reserva or Mantuano) or a Flor de Caña 18 Nicaraguan rum.

06:54 Value For Money
At the price point of just under $10 per cigar, it's easy to recommend this cigar. The presentation is excellent and when construction issues don't arise, the smoking experience is remarkable as well. On the BU Cigar Formula, this cigar scored an 81/100 which we consider an outstanding grade.
