This film exposes the climate alarm as an invented scare without any basis in science. It shows that mainstream studies and official data do not support the claim that we are witnessing an increase in extreme weather events – hurricanes, droughts, heatwaves, wildfires and all the rest. It emphatically counters the claim that current temperatures and levels of atmospheric CO2 are unusually and worryingly high. On the contrary, compared to the last half billion years of earth’s history, both current temperatures and CO2 levels are extremely and unusually low. We are currently in an ice age. It also shows that there is no evidence that changing levels of CO2 (it has changed many times) has ever ‘driven’ climate change in the past.

Why then, are we told, again and again, that ‘catastrophic man-made climate-change’ is an irrefutable fact? Why are we told that there is no evidence that contradicts it? Why are we told that anyone who questions ‘climate chaos’ is a ‘flat-earther’ and a ‘science-denier’?

The film explores the nature of the consensus behind climate change. It describes the origins of the climate funding bandwagon, and the rise of the trillion-dollar climate industry. It describes the hundreds of thousands of jobs that depend on the climate crisis. It explains the enormous pressure on scientists and others not to question the climate alarm: the withdrawal of funds, rejection by science journals, social ostracism.

But the climate alarm is much more than a funding and jobs bandwagon. The film explores the politics of climate. From the beginning, the climate scare was political. The culprit was free-market industrial capitalism. The solution was higher taxes and more regulation. From the start, the climate alarm appealed to, and has been adopted and promoted by, those groups who favour bigger government.

This is the unspoken political divide behind the climate alarm. The climate scare appeals especially to all those in the sprawling publicly-funded establishment. This includes the largely publicly-funded Western intelligentsia, for whom climate has become a moral cause. In these circles, to criticise or question the climate alarm has become is a breach of social etiquette.

The film includes interviews with a number of very prominent scientists, including Professor Steven Koonin (author of ‘Unsettled’, a former provost and vice-president of Caltech), Professor Dick Lindzen (formerly professor of meteorology at Harvard and MIT), Professor Will Happer (professor of physics at Princeton), Dr John Clauser (winner of the Nobel prize in Physics in 2022), Professor Nir Shaviv (Racah Institute of Physics), professor Ross McKitrick (University of Guelph), Willie Soon and several others.

The film was written and directed by the British filmmaker Martin Durkin and is the sequel of his excellent 2007 documentary The Great Global Warming Swindle. Tom Nelson, a podcaster who has been deeply examining climate debate issues for the better part of two decades, was the producer of the film.

De energietransitie waar Nederland zich recent in gestort heeft, is astronomisch duur, gaat de wereld niet redden en zal afbreuk doen aan onze welvaart, veiligheid en welzijn.

Dat is een van de centrale stellingen van de klimaatkritische wetenschapsjournalist Arnout Jaspers, auteur van De Stikstoffuik. Clintel geeft hem op woensdag 4 september (bij Antropia in Driebergen) voluit de gelegenheid zijn visie te geven op de zin en vooral de onzin van de energietransitie.

Met de bestseller en mythbuster De Stikstoffuik uit 2023 vestigde freelance wetenschapsjournalist Arnout Jaspers definitief zijn naam als criticus van de mainstream-visie op milieu en klimaatbeleid. Jaspers richt zich momenteel op de energietransitie die in Nederland gaande is. Daarover schreef hij recent het boek De Klimaatoptimist.

“Het huidige kabinet zet helaas in grote lijnen de dwalingen van de kabinetten Rutte voort, en neemt niet duidelijk afstand van typische Jetten-obsessies als klimaatkoploper willen zijn, 100% ‘hernieuwbare’ energie en netto-nul in 2050.”

“Met een meer pragmatische, dus optimistische kijk op klimaatverandering, kunnen we ook een veel pragmatischer energietransitie doorvoeren. Daarin levert kernenergie de hoofdmoot van de elektriciteit, samen met wind- en zonne-energie, en blijven zeer moeilijk te decarboniseren sectoren als de luchtvaart op fossiele brandstoffen vliegen. De groene waterstof-economie wordt dan grotendeels overbodig, net als het volstouwen van de Noordzee met windmolens. Het kabinet Schoof moet dan wel nog dit jaar het roer omgooien wat betreft de energietransitie, en dit ook luid en duidelijk kenbaar maken.”

“De paniek over klimaatverandering heeft in het Westen groteske vormen aangenomen, maar in feite is Nederland prima klimaatbestendig te maken, en dat kan relatief heel goedkoop”, stelt Jaspers. “We kunnen in de Lage Landen daarmee nog vele eeuwen vooruit. Een energietransitie zonder groene taboes zorgt ervoor, dat uw kinderen en kleinkinderen ook in 2050 en 2100 nog vlees mogen eten en met het vliegtuig op vakantie kunnen, terwijl we tegelijkertijd ‘veilig en welvarend achter de dijken’ blijven wonen.”

Arnout Jaspers (1958) studeerde natuurkunde in Leiden, publiceerde als wetenschapsjournalist onder meer in NRC Handelsblad en de Volkskrant en is columnist van Wynia’s Week.

Planetary emergency upcoming (interview with Jacob Nordangård at Café Weltschmerz)

Clintel 2024-08-08 | Have you ever heard of the UN Summit of the Future? Probably not. A planetary emergency is proposed to be declared at this Summit in September 2024. This could trigger the set up of an emergency platform to curb the alleged "climate crisis".

Jacob Nordangård visited the Netherlands to speak at the Anniversary Congress of Clintel Foundation on 18 June 2024. The day before the congress he talked to the organizer and chairman of the day of the congress, Evert Doornhof. They spoke about the history leading to the summit and the connections with among others the Rockefeller family, WEF and the Netherlands. You will also hear which actors are behind this proposal, and what the consequences are for our human liberties.

Scientific challenges of the “detection and attribution of global warming” speech by Willie Soon

Clintel 2024-08-05 | Willie Soon was the keynote-speaker at the Clintel Anniversary Congress on 18 June 2024. This is the registration of his speech. Below you find his summary.

In this talk, I discussed major fundamental problems with the “detection and attribution” of global warming by the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) reports that the media doesn’t tell you about. The IPCC’s “detection and attribution” process is the entire basis for why the IPCC concluded (using computer models) that global warming is mostly human-caused. We discovered that the IPCC’s analysis was scientifically flawed because of major problems in (a) the thermometer record and (b) the total solar irradiance databases.

We explained that the current global temperate records adopted by the IPCC report have been contaminated by urbanization biases. When we removed this major flaw, we created a rural-based temperature record that was then adopted for the revisit of attribution problem. We found that IPCC’s approach in attribution was highly selective and rather non-scientific as proven in their recommendation of a single choice of the solar irradiance factor. In contrast, we showed that there were at least two dozen valid estimates of solar irradiance that were conveniently de-selected by IPCC team. However, when one applies some of these solar irradiance estimates, we found that the rural-only temperature records can be explained mostly by the solar forcing factor. This result directly challenges IPCC’s iconic statement that the warming observed since the 1950s were mainly human-caused.

The Greatest Untold Story of the 21st Century by Gregory Wrightstone 18 June 2024

Gregory Wrightstone is a geologist, expert reviewer for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, Executive Director of the CO₂ Coalition and author of the recently published book A Very Convenient Warming.

In this presentation, Wrightstone presents a wealth of information gleaned from his new book. His data show that not only that there is no climate crisis, but rather, Earth’s ecosystems are thriving and prospering and humanity is benefiting from modest warming and more CO₂.

Lezing Marcel Crok 18 juni 2024: Zal het klimaatdebat in de rechtszaal beslecht worden?

Clintel 2024-07-20 | Tijdens het Jubileumcongres van Clintel op 18 juni 2024 hield mede-oprichter Marcel Crok een lezing over klimaatzaken in de rechtszaal. Dit is de registratie van zijn lezing.

Na de uitspraak van de Hoge Raad in de Urgenda-klimaatzaak (Urgenda won van de staat) schoten de klimaatrechtszaken wereldwijd als paddenstoelen uit de grond. Er lopen momenteel wereldwijd naar schatting meer dan 2000 klimaatrechtszaken. De eerste grote overwinning van de klimaatbeweging was de overwinning van Stichting Urgenda in een mitigatiezaak tegen de Nederlandse overheid, die uiteindelijk door de Hoge Raad werd beslist. Een soortgelijke zaak volgde in Duitsland. Op basis van het succes in de Urgenda-zaak heeft Milieudefensie nu de strijd aangebonden met Shell en in eerste aanleg ook gewonnen. Clintel heeft tijdens het hoger beroep verzocht om te interveniëren in de Shell-zaak. Hoewel Clintel ontvankelijk werd verklaard, werd haar verzoek om technische redenen toch afgewezen. Bij een volgende zaak tussen Milieudefensie en ING zal Clintel opnieuw proberen tussen te komen.

Marcel Crok, directeur en mede-oprichter van Clintel, blikt in deze lezing eerst terug op vijf jaar Clintel en houdt aansluitend een pleidooi voor inmenging door Clintel in prominente klimaatrechtszaken als die van Milieudefensie.

Marcel Crok studeerde scheikunde in Amsterdam en Leiden en werd daarna wetenschapsjournalist. In 2005 won hij de Glazen Griffioen voor zijn artikel over de roemruchte hockeystickgrafiek. Crok zegde zijn baan bij Natuurwetenschap & Techniek op om 2,5 jaar aan het boek De Staat van het Klimaat te werken. De Nederlandse overheid vroeg hem het vijfde IPCC-rapport kritisch te reviewen. Ook zette hij samen met het KNMI en het PBL het internationale discussieplatform Climate Dialogue op. In 2019 richtte hij samen met Guus Berkhout stichting Clintel op.

The energy transition: A reality check (Clintel Anniversary Conference 18 June 2024)

Clintel 2024-07-17 | On 18 June 2024, Theo Wolters spoke at Clintel's anniversary conference about a reality check regarding the energy transition. This is the recording of his lecture.

The presentation substantiated that the envisaged energy transition to fossil-free by 2050 is completely unrealistic: the period is far too short, and the system costs of solar and wind are prohibitive. This is true worldwide anyway, but even already for the rich Netherlands. All independent energy experts agree on this, although politicians and the media in The Hague just present zero in 2050 as the indisputable reality.
A transition that makes people poorer every year can never succeed either.

Therefore, we need to go back to pure energy policy: ensuring affordable, clean and reliable energy, for everyone in the world, and especially the poorer countries. To do so, we must especially develop cheaper sources than the current ones, and that will almost certainly end up being a new form of nuclear power.

Theo Wolters concludes by claiming that we will eventually push fossil energy far faster by focusing on developing cheaper forms of energy, which will cause an automatic transition, than by continuing to try to force an unaffordable and unfeasible transition on the population, based on solar and wind.

Versnelt de zeespiegelstijging wel of niet? (Presentatie Clintel congres 18 juni 2024)

Clintel 2024-07-11 | Op 18 juni 2024 sprak Hessel Voortman op het congres van Clintel over de vraag of de zeespiegelstijging wel of niet versnelt. Dit is de registratie van zijn lezing.

Ingenieurs bouwen sluizen, stormvloedkeringen en dijken met de bedoeling dat ze ten minste 100 jaar mee gaan. De zeespiegel stijgt en ingenieurs houden daar rekening mee door “een maatje meer” in hun ontwerpen. Daarvoor worden projecties gebruikt van de (veronderstelde) zeespiegel in de toekomst.

Het is belangrijk dat die projecties realistisch zijn; niet overdreven hoog (want dat kost geld) maar ook niet te laag. Hessel Voortman deed de afgelopen jaren onderzoek naar de gemeten zeespiegel en bedacht een manier om metingen en projecties op een objectieve manier met elkaar te vergelijken.

Op het Clintel-congres presenteerde Hessel zijn nieuwste bevindingen. Die zijn verrassend en geruststellend.

Hessel Voortman is specialist klimaatadaptatie en inmiddels 30 jaar werkzaam als waterbouwkundige. Hij is gepromoveerd aan de TU Delft op waterveiligheid en werkzaam als adviseur en projectmanager sinds 2003. Hessel is eigenaar van eigen adviesbureau (hesselvoortman.nl) sinds 2021 en hij wordt niet bang van 3 meter geprojecteerde zeespiegelstijging.

Clintel 2024-07-08 | Dieser Film entlarvt den Klimaalarm als erfundenen Schrecken ohne wissenschaftliche Grundlage. Es zeigt, dass Mainstream-Studien und offizielle Daten die Behauptung, wir erleben eine Zunahme extremer Wetterereignisse – Hurrikane, Dürren, Hitzewellen, Waldbrände und alles andere – nicht stützen. Es widerspricht nachdrücklich der Behauptung, dass die aktuellen Temperaturen und der CO2-Gehalt in der Atmosphäre ungewöhnlich und besorgniserregend hoch seien. Im Gegenteil: Im Vergleich zur letzten halben Milliarde Jahre der Erdgeschichte sind sowohl die aktuellen Temperaturen als auch der CO2-Gehalt extrem und ungewöhnlich niedrig. Wir befinden uns derzeit in einer Eiszeit. Es zeigt auch, dass es keine Beweise dafür gibt, dass veränderte CO2-Werte (sie haben sich viele Male geändert) in der Vergangenheit jemals den Klimawandel „angetrieben“ haben.

Entonces, ¿por qué se nos dice una y otra vez que el "catastrófico cambio climático provocado por el hombre" es un hecho irrefutable? ¿Por qué se nos dice que no hay pruebas que lo contradigan? ¿Por qué se nos dice que cualquiera que cuestione el "caos climático" es un "terraplanista" y un "negacionista de la ciencia"?

La película explora la naturaleza del consenso en torno al cambio climático. Describe los orígenes de la ola de financiación de la lucha contra el cambio climático y el auge de la industria climática, que mueve un billón de dólares. Describe los cientos de miles de puestos de trabajo que dependen de la crisis climática. Explica la enorme presión que se ejerce sobre los científicos y otras personas para que no cuestionen la alarma climática: retirada de fondos, rechazo de las revistas científicas, ostracismo social.

Pero la alarma climática es mucho más que una cuestión de financiación y empleo. La película explora la política del clima. Desde el principio, la alarma climática fue política. El culpable era el capitalismo industrial de libre mercado. La solución era aumentar los impuestos y la regulación. Desde el principio, la alarma climática atrajo a los grupos partidarios de un gobierno más grande, que la adoptaron y promovieron.

Esta es la división política tácita detrás de la alarma climática. La alarma climática atrae especialmente a todos aquellos que forman parte de la clase dirigente financiada con fondos públicos. Esto incluye a los intelectuales occidentales, en su mayoría financiados con fondos públicos, para quienes el clima se ha convertido en una causa moral. En estos círculos, criticar o cuestionar la alarma climática se ha convertido en una falta de etiqueta social.

La película incluye entrevistas con varios científicos muy destacados, como el profesor Steven Koonin (autor de "Unsettled", antiguo rector y vicepresidente de Caltech), el profesor Dick Lindzen (antiguo profesor de meteorología en Harvard y el MIT), el profesor Will Happer (profesor de física en Princeton), el doctor John Clauser (premio Nobel de Física en 2022), el profesor Nir Shaviv (Instituto de Física Racah), el profesor Ross McKitrick (Universidad de Guelph), Willie Soon y varios otros.

La película ha sido escrita y dirigida por el cineasta británico Martin Durkin y es la continuación de su excelente documental de 2007 La gran estafa del calentamiento global. Tom Nelson, podcaster que lleva más de dos décadas analizando a fondo el debate sobre el clima, ha sido el productor de la película.

Clintel 2024-03-20 | Deze nieuwe documentaire van de Britse filmmaker Martin Durkin toont aan dat klimaatalarm een verzonnen doembeeld is zonder enige wetenschappelijke basis. Het laat zien dat de klimaatwetenschap en officiële metingen de claims niet ondersteunen dat we getuige zijn van een toename van extreme weersomstandigheden - orkanen, droogtes, hittegolven, bosbranden en andere fenomenen.

Het weerlegt nadrukkelijk de bewering dat de huidige temperaturen en niveaus van atmosferische CO2 ongewoon en zorgwekkend hoog zijn. Integendeel, vergeleken met de laatste half miljard jaar in de geschiedenis van de aarde, zijn zowel de huidige temperaturen als de CO2-niveaus extreem en ongewoon laag. We bevinden ons geologisch gezien in een ijstijd. Het laat ook zien dat er geen bewijs is dat veranderende CO2-niveaus (het is vele malen veranderd) in het verleden ooit de klimaatverandering hebben 'veroorzaakt'.

Waarom wordt ons dan keer op keer verteld dat 'catastrofale door de mens veroorzaakte klimaatverandering' een onweerlegbaar feit is? Waarom wordt ons verteld dat er geen bewijs is dat dit tegenspreekt? Waarom wordt ons verteld dat iedereen die vraagtekens zet bij de 'klimaatcrisis' een 'platte-aarde aanhanger' en een 'wetenschapsontkenner' is?

De film onderzoekt de aard van de consensus achter klimaatverandering. Het beschrijft de opkomst van de klimaatindustrie waarin biljoenen dollars omgaan. Het beschrijft de honderdduizenden banen die afhankelijk zijn van de klimaatcrisis. Het verklaart de enorme druk op wetenschappers en anderen om het klimaatalarm niet in twijfel te trekken. De gevolgen voor wetenschappers die dat wel doen kunnen groot zijn: het intrekken van fondsen, afwijzing door wetenschappelijke tijdschriften, sociale uitsluiting.

De film is opgenomen op locatie in de VS, Canada, Israël, Kenia en het Verenigd Koninkrijk. De film bevat interviews met een aantal zeer prominente wetenschappers, waaronder professor Steven Koonin (auteur van 'Unsettled', voormalig provoost en vice-president van Caltech), professor Dick Lindzen (voorheen hoogleraar meteorologie aan Harvard en MIT), professor Will Happer (hoogleraar natuurkunde aan Princeton), Dr. John Clauser (winnaar van de Nobelprijs voor natuurkunde in 2022), Professor Nir Shaviv (Racah Institute of Physics) en anderen.

Martin Durkin heeft honderden uren aan documentaires en tv geproduceerd, geregisseerd en uitvoerend geproduceerd voor omroepen over de hele wereld, waaronder Discovery, National Geographic en vele anderen. Het bedrijf dat hij oprichtte en leidde, was een tijdlang de grootste producent van shows voor Science Channel en Discovery Networks International. Zijn verschillende documentaires hebben vele prijzen gewonnen en hij was lid van de stuurgroep van het World Congress of Science Producers, het Edinburgh Television Festival en jurylid voor de Bafta- en Royal Television Society-awards.

Tom Nelson is de producent van de film. Als podcast-maker verdiept hij zich al bijna twee decennia diepgaand in het klimaatdebat. In de Tom Nelson Podcast sprak Durkin in 2022 de wens uit om een vervolg te maken op "The Great Global Warming Swindle" uit 2007. Veel van de wetenschappers die in Climate: The Movie zijn geïnterviewd, hebben lange interviews gedaan voor de Tom Nelson Podcast en zijn tevens ondertekenaar van de Clintel World Climate Declaration.

Clintel 2023-10-22 | Steven Koonin, author of "Unsetteld, What climate science tells us, what it doesn't and why it matters", visited The Netherlands in September 2023 for the launch of the Dutch edition of his book (Title: Onbeslist). This talk was given in Antropia for a fully packed theatre. Koonin discusses climate science and also the response of society to the assumed climate crisis. Afterwards there is a Q&A moderated by Marcel Crok, science writer and director of the Clintel Foundation.

Clintel 2023-07-10 | H2O belangrijker voor het klimaat dan CO2
Zwijgt het IPCC over het belangrijkste broeikasgas H2O, waterdamp? Deze vraag komt aan de orde in deze video van Stichting Clintel. Wim Röst, een geograaf die zich de laatste tien jaar op het oplossen van het klimaatprobleem heeft gestort doet hier uit de doeken hoe enorm belangrijk het watermolecuul is voor het bepalen van de aardse temperatuur. Je zou
dan ook verwachten dat het IPCC in de speciaal voor politici geschreven ‘Summary for Policymakers’ de rol van dit molecuul uitgebreid zou belichten.

Dat blijkt niet het geval te zijn. Het IPCC zwijgt zelfs over het belangrijkste broeikasgas, H2O, het molecuul dat als geen ander de temperatuur aan het aardoppervlak bepaalt.

Andy May: Are Fossil Fuel CO2 Emissions Good or Bad?

It was organized by Marcel Crok, director of Clintel. Andy examines the 2016 debate between Professor David Karoly, Professor of Atmospheric Science in the school of Earth Sciences at the University of Melbourne (now retired) and Professor William Happer, Cyrus Fogg Brackett Professor of Physics at Princeton University (now retired). This illuminating and wide-ranging debate, hosted by James Barham of TheBestSchools.org, thoroughly explains the issues surrounding climate change. CLINTEL Edictum Scientificum, door Emeritus Hoogleraar Guus Berkhout

Clintel 2020-06-21 | Guus Berkhout, oprichter van CLINTEL, stuurde op 11 juni een open brief naar de president van de KNAW waarin hij aandacht vraagt voor de misstanden in het klimaatdebat. In aanvulling op de brief stelde Berkhout ook een wetenschappelijk manifest (Edictum Scientificum) op waarin hij in tien stellingen verwoord aan welke voorwaarden onafhankelijk onderzoek dient te voldoen. Klimaatonderonderzoek voldoet aan geen van deze voorwaarden, aldus Berkhout.
